We recently stayed overnight at the Hampton Inn in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida. We are honor members (269319926 9121) and we always book our reservations at Hampton Inns. We love the breakfast buffet, the atmosphere, the friendliness of the staff and overall cleanliness. On August 22, 2014, my wife and I stayed for one night at the Hampton Inn in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida. I was very disappointed upon arrival and immediately cancelled my second nights stay. The hallway had a very strong, unpleasant odor - it was overwhelming - repulsive. We had made online reservations which stated that with our AARP membership, we would receive a late 2:00 PM checkout - which we were denied. The clerk (evening shift) said that even though it was stipulated online, she could not honor that without additional charges being applied, as they were privately owned - she was unsympathetic to our request and unfriendly.

When I arrived in the room, I told my wife not to unpack yet (because of the smell, the dirty carpet, and just not what I expected from my previous visits - I actually drove down the beach to look for another room. But I went back and tried to make it a pleasant night - it was her birthday. We went home a day early. We've stayed at the Hampton in Oxford, MS and Pensacola Beach, Florida among other locations in the recent years. I just wanted to express my disappointment with our recent vacation..
