I have been attempting to work with Harris Count Toll Road authority via email on several issues:
1. I have several invoices with over $14 in fees for tolls I have paid already within the time frame and sent them proof of.
2.Their billing in random and 3. they do not allow time to pay within the time they state on the invoices.
4. I look at the invoices I notice most charges, for example are for Mar 2022, but there is one for May of 2021 slipped in there, and it is consistently this way throughout several invoices.

5. I do not and will not have a toll tag again since they charged me tolls (without a pic of my plate) for over $10 in tolls on a day I was in the hospital and no one else was driving my car. They would not refund even when I sent in the hospital paperwork per their request, so I revoked authorization for them to be able to direct bill me and threw away the toll tag.

6. They have gotten worse since they no longer have their toll booths manned.

I thought when they got approved to charge it was only until the road was paid off...that was over 20yrs ago and they have more than paid it off. Why is no one stopping them if this was true and continuing to let them raise prices?

I apparently used the EZ Tag Toll on June 1, 2017. For tolls in the amount of $10.50. (I am from San Antonio and it was probably a mistake that I got on it. I don't remember.)
I was sent a collection letter August 31, 2018 for $85.50. This was the first notification and or invoice after the toll was acquired.
After digging into this I found HCTRA first invoiced me June 13, 2018 after all the fees were assessed on June 1, 2018. One year and 12 days AFTER the toll I was invoiced. They also sent the invoice to an old address that was the vehicle was registered under a year ago!. The mail was never forwarded for it was over a year since I had moved.
I was told their procedures are to invoice me within 30 days. Which they admit they didn't do. HCTRA stated they would drop their fees but I had to deal with the attorneys office for their fee removal.
After speaking with the attorney's office I ended up paying $36.50 on a $10.50 toll to avoid any more hassle and frustration.
This is despicable business practice.

I received a bill from the Harris County toll road authority and a picture of a big trucks license plate that they say is mine. I have never been to Houston and do not own a tractor trailer truck. Have spent a couple of hours trying to get them to understand its not me but they won't listen. In my state there are specialty tags such as antiques, big trucks, etc, sometimes the numbers appear the same on completely different types of tags. This tag number was at one time on a antique car I owned but is still a completely a different type of tag. I'm supposed to take off work and get all this proof from my DMV and fax to them. They will be receiving a bill for my lost time for their mistake. Again Texas I don't own a big rig and have never been to Harris County and for sure will never go to Texas.
