crises averted, disregard the 5/8/15 post

The difference in money has been refunded to my card. I am unsure why it took 3 days to process through (since it doesn't happen that way when I pay at the pump) , and for now on if it doesn't let me pay at the pump, I just won't get gas there.

But thankfully it was only a delayed refund and an over-reaction on my part :-)

If possible, please delete the 5/8/15 post *********** Thank you.

Complaint about employee Over-charging my credit card

On Tuesday 5/5/15 at approximately 9:00 PM I went to the Hess station On Route 44 Raynham, (which I go to at least 1x per month) and normally I just pay at the pump, but for some reason it was saying I had to see the cashier. So i go inside and there are 2 women behind the counter. I'm unsure if the the 2nd woman actually worked there.

So I say to the cashier "I just want to fill it up on pump 6".
The cashier says "okay, we have to put a specific amount" I told her I'm not sure how much it is to fill the tank, and asked in her opinion is it better to over estimate the amount, or under estimate? To which she replied "It's better to charge it for more, and if you pump less than what the card is charged for, it will credit back the difference automatically".
So I say okay. "Um,I guess put it in for $35.00 ?"

The cashier then says " You can come back in after for a receipt for proof". But she said it as if I didn't believe her.
To which I responded "No, that's cool, I trust you", smiled, then left.

I was super friendly even though it was really weird that I've never had to go inside to pay with my card before.

Well, it only took approx $26.70 to fill my 2013 Toyota Corolla. (it was most certainly less than $28.00) BUT I was fully charged $35.00 with no sign of "credit adjustment".

At first it was a pending charge of $35 with two pending $1.00 charges, which means the card was run 2x, (once before I pumped, and once after I pumped). I figured once the payment fully cleared, it would have corrected itself. But it didn't.

Now the $35.00 charge has completely posted through, and I have no receipt to prove it was supposed to be around $26.70 because I was being nice and didn't want the girl to think I didn't trust her. (You know, that whole faith in humanity thing.)

shame on me for not going back inside for a receipt. I'm not looking for a refund, But It's the fact that this probably wasn't a mistake. And I wonder how many other customers have been screwed over (pardon my french.)

My car has a 13.2 gal gas tank. If it was COMPLETELY empty, it would have cost less than $33.96 to fill with a rate of $2.53 (which was the rate in the last 24 hrs, but I believe it was actually less than that on Tuesday May 5th).

complaints about employees

I Have came in to the store in LeesburgFlorida across the street from lake sumter community college on a daily basis. Every time I come in I hear the same employee talking about getting high and how she is drunk. Her name tag says Trisha. I also want to say that the store is the most unorganized hess I have ever been to.For my daughter to hear this lady talking about getting messed up is not right. I've called to tell the manager but she hasn't changed anything.I hope that something changes.

Employees Safety

I wish Hess Corporation would investigate some of the orders managers/regional managers are handing the employees in Massachusetts or wherever else in New England. There is this new promotion that Hess has handed down to its stores that customers recieve a free water for purchasing items in the store. I learned from an employee who insisted on remaining anonymous for fear of being punished by the manager with cut hours or termination that from 3 to 7pm employees are told to stand outside handing out fliers for free water when an item in the store is purchased. These fliers are on the pumps and on the windows, so why have the employees stand outside in the cold? They are going to get sick with colds, the flu that's going around, could get frostbite, all sorts of issues arrive from this inane gimmick to get customers inside of the stores. Plus shouldn't the employees be provided some sort of reflectors so drivers can see them in the parking lot?? Once the sun goes down the temperature drops to under 30 degrees F. This violates OSHA laws does it not? After hearing what I did from the first employee outside, I went inside and talked to another behind the register. This employee stated similar, that the manager threatens them with cut hours or termination if they do not stand outside or argue their rights or safety. This second employee is elderly and is at a higher risk of getting sick. This employee added that the regional manager was to blame for how the promotion was to be carried out. I believe the regional manager's name was Stacey however I am not completely positive since the employee quieted down after the manager had come out front.
This is disgusting risking employees health for a free 16 oz water. There are fliers on the pumps and stickers on the windows. That should be enough advertisement of a promotion.
