2 minute waiting time...or 10% off?

Having searched in vain for someone to help me with a DIY question, I decided to press the large orange button in the centre of the store. Next to which it clearly states that if assistance does not arrive within 2 minutes the customer will receive 10% off their purchase. After the 2 minute countdown ended, a young guy came over and offered to help me, He acknowledged my wait has been longer than the 2 minutes, and immediately pressed a reset button on the side of the counter. Benny was then most helpful, and after taking my goods to the till, I asked for 10% reduction for the reason already explained. The man on the till refused point blank, and said that the 10% off figure only applied if I had been on the far side of the store. This seemed a rather silly point to argue, but he stuck to his guns, and as a point of principle - rather than for the 50 pence I stood to "gain" - I decided to ask to speak to the store's manager. In the meantime, Benny came over and told his colleague on the till that I had indeed waited more than 2 minutes at the buzzer, and so should - in his opinion - recieve 10% off my bill. Some confusion then from the guys on the shop floor -.but surely I thought, the manager would put a stop to this. Well, how wrong could I have been - the manager proceeded to tell me that the buzzer and the 10% off signage was infact a "seasonal device". I listened as he also said that the device could not be turned off. It soon became obvious that the manager was completely unwilling to shift his opinion, and ignored the fact that members of his own staff had presented with differing opinions on the matter - so the policy was not even clear to their own employees. I pointed out that I knew a person who had been given 10% off their purchase in this same store, in an identical scenario to mine today. I spoke to a customer service assistant from Homebase by telephone later that morning, who was completely understanding of my feelings, and without hesitation agreed to send me a voucher for 30% off at the Homebase store.

Paint mixing service

12 hours ago I visited Homebase looking to have 2 pots of paint mixed. I'm still furious! It was 10% off day, and that was what made me decide to go. I had my mother and my 18month old daughter with me. I chose the colours I wanted and waited for the member of staff to finish mixing the paint for another customer. He didn't achknowlege our presence, even after we were stood there with him for at least 10mins with the colour cards in my hand. I then noticed a big button with a sign abouve saying "Were only 2 minutes away, or we'll give you 10% off!" Wishing I'd pressed it sooner, I pushed it anyway. The man waited til a minute worth of lights had been eliminated on the timer, took a side-step, zero'd the counter, and just carried on! He didn't even say hello, I'll be with you as soon as I finish this! I was clearly an irritation to him, so I pressed the button once more after it became clear that he had no intention of being curteous, in disbelief at his reaction. I was hoping for another member of staff to at least ask what I wanted and give me an indication of how much more time I was expected to waste. I could have done some more shopping or changed the baby instead of being treated like an idiot. To my utter amazement, he zero'd the clock again and snapped "There's no use pushing the button...I'M ALREADY HERE!".
Yes, I could see that he was already there...but so were other customers, who pay his wages.
I was not served in 2 minutes. I was not even served at all. After a visit to customer services complaining about my treatment I still feel that man has no place dealing with the general public. Maybe he's better of in the job centre

Paint mixing service

Seems the above comments are Homebase staff. The complaint clearly states he had finished with the customer.
