I travelled from Singapore to Batam for a weekend getaway from the Harbour Front ferry terminal. I was travelling the first time on a ferry and was fumbling with the immigration procedure. There was no one to assist and I was trying to figure out on my own. My bar code on the ticket was being scanned and I was having opening the door. There was this lady who started shouting and was being absolutely brash. She was so rude and insulted me. Are these immigration assistants expected to be a intolerant towards passengers? Are there no room for mistakes? Her behaviour was unruly and was totally uncalled for. She could have come and helped and not treated me like a criminal. This incident turned my trip into a nightmare . I am an overly anxious traveller and tend to do things slow and carefully. To avoid this disturbing incident again, I returned back to the country and was following my husband to get it right. I was so nervous that I'll be screamed at again and was shaking to get my passport scanned. There was this immigration assistant who came and started shouting again. I don't understand, are they supposed to be policing/bullying travellers. They made my journey so difficult and made me think if I deserved to be treated that way. . They seriously need some training and should be sent back to school to learn basic manners. I get the hostility part but why do they threaten/boss over travellers and make their journey so difficult. I hope they are trained properly and acquire some people managing skills. They don't know to assist and are plainly standing there like security guards. They seem like they're doing their job for the heck of it and are really frustrated. So they pass this tension on to the travellers and make their journey a nightmare.
