Last year I exchanged my $ for Indian Rs. about $13,000.00 and had left over Rs about 35,000.00. I wanted to declare it but was told that no requirements. Now I am trying to exchange these old demonitorized bills and I am told that us citizens are not allowed to exchange them for the newer currency? In short the Indian govt is a thief and cheat, it took my $ and gave me worthless paper?. This is a country with the worlds largest GDP and cheats its way and steals from the average people. What kind of impact and message it sends to those of us who have contributed greatly to its economy? I am a senior and remember those days when a stack of Rs could not buy a $; and now we who laid down this foundation for a better India are being kicked as beggars? The world community will take notice of this betrayal of the average people.
