Hand over

In 2015 i applied for an account at Jet stores in King Williams town. It was during the week afternoon when i went Jet stores in King Williams town after receiving an sms notifying me that i qualify for credit at jet.

When i got there one of their staff member assisted me to open an account, i was still an intern back then. After opening this account he then told me that i was given R5000 credit and that i need to spend R1000 right there and then to activate my account. I had to shop there that evening, shop things i dont need just for me activate this account for R1000.

After a month i then went to the store to make my first payment, to my surprise i no longer owe R1000 it was more when i inquired i was told that there were things added, i cancelled some of those things and some they said i cannot cancel some of these things another big blow for me was when i was told that i have opted to pay over 12 months when i made it clear to the gentleman that was assisting me that i want 6 months payment period. I then went to jet stores to change this payment period spent hours on the phone there calling head office that told me that this cannot be changed.

This was the beginning of my death toll. I continued to pay my account the required installment each month aroung R500 or more but i then noticed that this balance is not going down. When i did follow up on this i was told about interest charged on current balance. i did not understand because i pay every month and i pay the required amount. After a year my internship contract was terminated i was then unemployed. I made arrangements of paying atleast R150 a month, the balance got worse it went up every month the difference would be R20 after paying that R150.

Later i was told that my account has been handed over and the balance again when up i ask the lady that i was speaking with why has the balance gone up drastically she told me that legal charges were added, she further explained that no other costs will be added now. We made an arrangement of paying R100 a month i think this was in November last year. I paid November, December and January and i saw the difference i saw my balance going down by that R100 each month and i was happy and satisfied. They sent me a statement end January reflecting my balance as R3900 and i was happy.

February i did not pay because i did not have money i told the lady that phoned me that i was low on funds and that i will pay in March. I kept receiving calls and i kept explaining the same thing over and over. Beginning March i received a phone call from another legal firm not the same one saying that my account has been handed over to them and that my balance was R4500+ i was shocked firstly because this was not same legal firm that called me before and i even shocked by the balance From R3900 to R4500 i told them i was not making any arrangements until my balance is the same balance as the one reflecting on my statement. This was not resolved until this April when they called me saying that the balance is now R4900+ i am very angry i told the lady that i am not making any payment arrangements because i do not agree with the balance. This was last week April 2018

Today 26/04/2018 went to my capitec app to check my credit status i was so shocked and angry at the same time to find out that i am not credit bureau because of this account. I have been paying all my accounts very well this is the only account i had a problem with. I am very mad!!!!!
