False accusation of stealing goods

To whom it may concern

I am appalled by the manner in which I was treated at Jet Mart in Stanger. We have been regular customers ever since it opened its doors and I was shocked at the manner in which I was treated.

On the 24th of November 2019 my husband and I walked into Jet Mart to purchase clothing items. Upon entering the store the security sensors were set off, at which point we noticed that no security guard was at the door.

After completing our shopping we stood in a line and then paid for the selected items. While exiting the store the security sensors were set off again, noting that this happens all the time at the store, we proceeded out however on this particular day the security guard which was not seen upon us entering, popped up from nowhere and decides to do his 'job'. He shouted and demanded that we come back inside because he had to do an investigation because he "knew" that I had stolen something. At this point in time the security had already attracted the attention of all the other customers because of his poor mannerisms and also already insisted that I had stolen something.

Customers in the store then approached the security guard and told him that what he was doing was wrong, I was very very very very embarrassed to say the least, and my husband was angered by his accusations. The security guard then ordered his assistants to take me away and conduct a search, I preceded to do what they said, they took me into a changing room and he screamed to them to check my underwear to, as he believed that I may have may have put things there. The assistants laughed when he said this and he told them, it was not a laughing matter. All this while he stood outside the door while they checked me.

After finishing the investigation, the ladies came out and told him there was nothing that was stolen, he answered by asking if they checked properly( the cheek of this security guard). This in my opinion is really really uncalled for and is a blatant attack on myself for no reason. It makes me angry knowing that this very individual did not even apologize after his false accusation, my husband requested to see a manager after the ordeal but apparently there was no manager on that day! What poor poor management.

This whole situation has changed my opinion of all Jet stores , I was treated like a criminal infront of so many people and I felt so angry and embarrassed through this ordeal.

We have been frequent visitors of this store in particular, I have never seen anyone else been called back in such a rude manner already accusing the customer of being a theif !Usually security gaurds check the packet for a tag that sets of the security sensors.

I also didn't like the fact that this security guard was very sure about his accusations but felt no remorse after being proven wrong, the least he could have done was apologize for putting me through this whole ordeal. To make matters worse there were no managers there to handle the situation and pacify me as acustomer.

I would really like this matter to be dealt with urgency as it has scared me for life and left me traumatized. My husband and I have already agreed that we will not be shopping there again after this terrible ordeal.

I am aware of policies that needs to be adhered by security staff and the manner at which this was addressed was unethical and in all honesty the security guard needs to be repremanded accordingly or removed as I can only imagine how many other customers are being tormented by him and driving customers away by his behaviour.

I expect this to be given the utmost of attention as this is defemation of character and failure to me getting the appropriate feedback I will revert to the consumer obudsman who will assist me in gaining justice for this type of behavior.
