Kenmore Elite Refrigerator 795.73132.410

Our Kenmore Elite (LG) bottom freezer French door frig died on 13th of November. No cooling anywhere, compressor continues to run but no output as far as we could tell. I called my Grandson (a Sears Appliance Tech) and he confirmed that it was most likely the compressor as they have a problem with the Kenmore Elite (LG) compressors. we bought this unit in October of 2017 with a warranty, fortunately. We called for Sears Service and they said they couldn't get out until December 3rd. My wife has to use insulin and this has to be kept cold. So we packed up everything into three coolers and I bought 15 lbs. of ice every day to try to keep everything cool enough.
We fortunately have a chest freezer, my mother gave us when she downsized. This chest freezer has been working since the day we got it about 18 years ago and my mother had it for at least 20 years before that, so 38 years total without a service call.
The Sears Service operator said we could get a local repairman to fix it and they would reimburse us minus any applicable deductible associated with our warranty. We were able to get a repairmen out here today November 20 and paid $1,390 to have the compressor replaced. A new model similar to the one we have is about $2,400. I HOPE the Sears Service Center comes through with the reimbursement, we shall see.

2 1/2 year old compressor failure

I have a Kenmore Elite, model 795.73132.411 refrigerator that is 29 months young and the linear compressor has failed. I purchased it I'm May, 2018, I failed Aug. 9, 2020. I spoke with a few refrigeration repair techs and they all said this is a common failure with Kenmore units that are built by LG. Compressors are prone to fail 2.5 to 3 years of use. All said to stay away from LG, Kenmore and Samsung refrigerators. My unit cost right at $2,000 including tax and set up. The replacement compressor will cost $700. I think I will bite the bullet and get a new, different brand refrigerator.

Stopped working after 18months

I purchased my Kenmore Elite Refrigerator 795.73132.4 in July 2016. Stopped working on January 23, 2018. I had it for 18 months. When I called Sears they told me they could not get anyone out till Feb 26th. I told them that was insane. They also informed me that I would have to pay $89.00 for a diagnostic eval on the fridge. Then there would still be no guarantee that the problem was not my fault. I have read countless complaints in regards to the Elite refrigerator about the compressor going out within 2 years of owning the fridge. I have also read and talked with a repair tech in my area that has warned me that this will be a never ending issue of problems with the refrigerator. I have decided not to get it repaired. I have ordered another refrigerator from another company. I am hoping that a class action lawsuit will go into effect for the refrigerator so I can get reimbursement. I hear there is one that is still being decided on, other than the one from 2005. If anyone can update this with me that would be great.
