Marc Lemon CEO Aurora

As concerned staff members of Kindred Aurora we must bring to the attention of upper management the inaptness of Marc Lemon CEO of Kindred Aurora. Mr. Lemon is an abusive man who runs Kindred Aurora is if he is King and we are his slaves. It has been made clear to us that patient care is secondary to the profitability of this hospital. Staff members are not properly trained before they are allowed to care for patients. It has been made clear to the staff that all that is important to Mr. Lemon is the bottom line and if patient care suffers, so be it. Under Mr. Lemon we are now once again in danger of having the doors to this facility shut by the state of Colorado There is little if any communication with staff or physicians as to what is going on and what is being done to fix the problems. An incident occurred at 3:00 pm on Wednesday February 7, 2018, that has left each and everyone of us who witnessed this embarrassed and shaken to the core. A meeting took place between Mr. Lemon and the Medical Director Dr. Eric Yaeger, the door to Mr. Lemon's office was left wide open which appeared to be intentional on the part of Mr. Lemon (since it was his office). What that meeting was about was not clear, what is clear is that for two hours Mr. Lemon berated, yelled at, putting down Dr. Yaeger, and informing Dr. Yaeger that if he did not like working with Mr. Lemon. Dr. Yaeger could give his 60 days notice. Due to human nature one staff member told another what was happening and soon not only were staff members hanging out in the hall but so were visitors and some patients who could walk the halls. Dr. Yaeger has been part of Kindred for two decades and for him to be treated by Mr. Lemon the way he was in a very public forum is unprofessional, and should be grounds for some type of action to be taken against him. This behavior on the part of Mr. Lemon is not limited to Dr. Yaeger but extends to staff as well and many staff members have quit because of his abusive nature. The same way Dr. Yaeger was told that if he did not like how Mr. Lemon ran the hospital "he could give his sixty days notice" we are also told if we don't like how he does things we can "give our two weeks notice". Mr. Lemon has made it clear to each and every one of us that we can be replaced. and now he has made it clear that the Medical Director can be replaced. For those of us that have been with Kindred for years, this is not the Kindred we started working with years ago, and Mr. Lemon should not be the face of Kindred in Colorado. Sincerely, every staff member that was working from 3-5 on Feb.7,2018

mental and emotional mistreatment

My attorney filed 2 workman comp claims; 1 for refusing to send me to the Industrial Clinic after c/o 10/10 pain in both arms and hands from October to Dec. I was told "You cannot prove its work related." In December I saw my Kaiser MD who stated I needed to go to the clinic, he wrote this in a note, I went back to work and was asked "Do you really need to go to the clinic?" I said yes the MD has stated this. I was sent and told by the MD at the clinic my employer should not of denied me, its up to the clinic not me or them, to decide if work related which they decided it was. I started in Dec. was eventually discharged even though I still had pain in my left arm. The 2nd claim was for the emotional/verbal mistreatment I rec'd. I took my concerns to HR last year who stated they agreed that some of the things going on in my department were not how they ran Kindred. I spoke with HR several times and the day they came in to meet with me to see how things were going and to review their f/u they were 20 mins. late for the meeting, we began then a Corporate rep. came in and said they had to leave and the HR person had 5 minutes to speak with me. She stated she suggested I speak with our ED. I reminded her she was suppose to review my case in depth and work with me on a solution, I asked if she reviewed the items I spoke with her about. Some she said yes to but wouldn't confirm/deny if she agreed with me. So she told me to speak with the person I filed a formal grievance about, told her that wouldn't work that's why I contacted HR and weren't they suppose to help staff members when filing a grievance? Conversation was over and she left. I also sent e-mails to this HR person on how "broken" I felt and wasn't able to function like myself because of the things happenings with my ED. I asked to step down and rec'd an e-mail stating HR would speak with me about my continuing employment. I asked the ED if I could step down which she replied she understood but HR was "handling your case." When I asked "What case?" She said she'd speak with HR. The meeting day came when I was suppose to speak with HR at 1:30 p.m. no one had called me or come in. I paged my ED and called her with no response. The assistant DON took my BP and heart rate and both were very high, I called the Kaiser Triage nurse and was told to go to Urgent Care a.s.a.p. I tried the ED but still no response, got a hold of the Staff Developer who told me she would tell the ED and to go straight to the hospital before I had a heart attack. I let her know I was scared to because my ED would be very upset, she assured me she'd make sure she knew and my health was so much more important. I was not assisted to the hospital or clinic, told to drive myself and once I got to the hospital was admitted over night. Segwick sent me a packet on March 8th to complete (attorney filed in late January), then on the 11th I rec'd a letter stating my claim was denied. How can it be denied when I just got the packet, no health records were sent and no no interviewed me?
I need your assistance and want to go forward with my case. I have been diagnosed by my physicians that my condition is work related and that is on my medical record. I have seen a psychiatrist and go to meetings 3 days a week for 3 hours each day for the strain my body/mind has gone through.
