At 10:30 AM on February 9, 2015 I ordered 2 "Cronuts". Yes, I see them listed as " Croissant Donuts" on the menu. On the other hand, I carefully emphasized the "Cr" part and said it 3 times during the order. I pull out of the drive through get on the road again, only to discover that I have 2 Valentine shaped DONUTS . The so-called brownie one was full of choclate filling and the other one was full of white vanilla filling. This location is at 7446 Metcalf Avenue in Overland Park, KS .

I do not believe that I have ever purchased anything at a Krispy Kreme store before. I had decided that I was going to try a Cronut and drove about 10 miles out of my way to do so. I still have not tried a Cronut, but I will, somewhere else. A note on the quality of the Valenite's Day, heartshaped donuts. They are entirely unremarkable. Anyone can put sprinkles and frosting on a piece of bread and inject some filling. If you go to the trouble of mixing your own dough at a donut specialty shop, I would expect it to be special, out of the ordinary. It is not. It is as mediocre as any grocery store donut ever was. No yeasty, freshly made smell, just pablum. Just vehicle for the sugar. Even if offered I would not take a coupon to go back and give Krispy Kreme a try, again.
