Some guy named Raul Martinez called my work, and I followed up and called back. He said that I owed them 9,000. from a personal loan that I took on 2006. I told him that I'd call back on a later time (to give myself time and investigate on my own. I found that this so call lawyers ran a check on my credit history; they are also affiliated with Presidio Collections which they also ran a check. Never did I receive any notification by mail (P.O. Box) I called back on May 15, 2012 for them to mail me a document showing what they claimed. Martinez said that they did mail something, however I haven't lived in that address for the past 6 yrs., and positively they have my address and P.O. Box when they ran a check on me on 4/19/12, 10/11/11 by Presidio and 4/25/12 by the so call Law Offices of Curtis O. Barnes. Apparently the guy Martinez didn't know what to say, and without my knowledge this woman who didn't state her name took the phone and she threat me with garnishment, how much she was going to enjoy my payback, that people like me have to be educated and asking, "What are you a teacher?" She harassed, threatened, and bullied me to the end. I've never been treated so disrespectful in my life. After all, I didn't get into this situation borrowing money with the intentions of not paying. My life was on hold for the past 10 years taking care of my parents, both with Alzheimer's and living with me so my finances were very limited. These people are out for blood; they don't want to hear any type of arrangements, and needless to say Curtis O. Barnes probably purchased the loan .5 to .10 cents to a dollar. I did consult an attorney, and she advised me to demand documentation of the purchase (return receipt), to complain to the FTC & FDCPA, and to report the threats to the Anaheim PD. I followed up on it today. These inhumane people need to be stopped, they are worse than maggots.
