Porting Phone number

I couldn't get my magic jack to work so I canceled my account the day after I tried to set it up and asked them not to port my phone number from my phone current carrier because i'm going to stay with them. My account was canceled on the 16th and on the 20th of that same month they took my phone number. Now I can't get my phone number back from magic jack and they told me I never canceled. I asked them to please cancel it again and they told me all I had to do to cancel was to stop using it, I never used it, it was never in service. I don't even own a magic jack anymore. Do not use magic jack. You can't speak to anyone on the phone, you have to chat on the computer and they take forever to say anything and they don't actually answer your questions, they say the same thing over and over agin. It's like they don't even read what you type.

Porting Phone number

I have had Magic Jack working for about 6 months. Submitted a request to port my phone number about 6 months ago; nothing has happened . Today I went on line to check my account; no record of any porting request. Submitted another porting request. This time Magic Jack wanted a $20 fee to do it. Gave them credit card no. and submitted request. Email from them said they could not port my phone number because my provider BellSouth said a porting request is already in process. I guess I am out $20. I wonder if anyone has ever had their number ported to MagicJack or is this a hoax?
BTW; after initially setting up MagicJack in Florida with no problems(Emachine with Windows 7, Brighthouse cable for ISP), I moved to another location with different computer and router and experienced call dropping. Had to change router to cure this problem. Magic Jack is now successfully running on XP and VISTA. The problem router was a 10 year old Linksys WRT54GS with latest firmware. I changed firmware from Linksys over to DD-wrt and problem of dropped calls was cured.

Ripped Off & Terrible Customer Service

I've been trying to get my number ported for two months from my carrier, who isn't on their list... 3 "chats" with people that are completely clueless. They keep telling me to contact my carrier. I keep telling them that the FCC describes the process clearly and that they have to initiate the port. They promise to follow up and do nothing. I'm am so sorry I paid them money. I could have just burned it for the same result. I don't know what to do or where to go. They simply don't care.

Ripped Off & Terrible Customer Service

I was charged Jul 2, 2010 for a Magic Jack and never received it. In August I phoned several times and talked some of their 'top' people and one supervisor who promised they would refund my money. I have never seen it now five months later. Why can companies not be respectful of the public potential customers? Why do they have to rip people off? I am getting to hate dealing with companies online now. It is such a pain to to be treated so rudely. There is no place to go it seems to be an advocate for ripped off customers. Magic Jack has been one of the worst for me.

I would not recomend this to my worse enemy. I had to pay up front because of debit card. The syatem didn't work and now I am having a lot of problems getting my money back.

Scam Does NOT work

I was to "TRY" out Magic Jack for thirty (30 ) days FREE!!! After three days dealing with several of there "top ten percent" of problem solvers. (Does that mean there are a LOT of problems )? Or a lot of ten percenters ?? I returned the Item at MY expense. A check of my credit card bill showed charges of $.33 and $48.32 to Magic Jack !!!. Their information in the ADD was tht NO CHARGES would be made until AFTER the thirty day test period. The must have had a different math teacher than I had in school.!!! How can you charge after three days but PROMISE not to charge until after a thirty day "trial" period. I sent this back at my expense so I would have PROOF that the company received the Magic Jack. This seems to be a SCAM!!!

They really have no consumer "help" department they (service reps) just keep transfering you to another one of their "tope ten percent" problem solvers.

THEY SAY YOU CAN USE THE + MODEL WITHOUT A COMPUTER. THAT MAY BE TRUE BUT YOU DO NEED TO BE CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET THROUGH A MODEM.

Stay away from this fraudulent company

Be careful I ordered majicjack on the phone paid 3.99 extra for 3-4 day delivery, it has been over 9 days and they dont give you a 800# to call to talk to a live person or any way of asking. they dont tell you that if you have a pre-paid debit that they want the money before your 30 day trial, so I have paid on nov.14 for it and also for the 3-4 day delivery, it is nov.22 and I cant find out anything.Darlene, Tx.

Does not work with wireless on laptop!

i have read a lot of in-favors and not so in-favors. I have had 90% of my problems with magic jack is with the customer service. There are no real people to speak to; it takes way to long to try and get a problem diagnosed; the customer service people do not for the most part understand what you are trying to explain. I resent the fact that there is no human contact with this company. I have had magic jack for a long time, years, and there were a lot of disconnect problems when an upgrade popped up or something else of that nature on my computer, or the static was there many times. So i decided to get the Plus version. It was still cheaper than going back to a land line. As the ad said i connected it to my modem and went to check the phone number and it gave me a new number which i did not want. Upstairs to the computer, contacted them and it took them 2 hours to figure out that the new plus needs to be plugged into your computer before it works with just the modem. Would have been nice if the directions had told me that. My computer son and I reviewed the instructions on the package and there was no mention of this instruction to connect to computer first to register the product. After hours of frustration, the interruptions are gone, the phone line is in perfect use, and i do not have to have my computer on to use the phone. I am now a happy customer. I just hope i never have to contact their customer service again.

Does not work with wireless on laptop!

I have the magic jack now and so does my dad. His phone works pretty well but mine is crap! I have it hooked up to my laptop on wireless. Whenever I pick up the phone, it is choppy and breaks up worse than a cell phone. In order to make it sound half-way decent, I have to hook directly to my modem which does nothing for me because I have a router for a reason. Now I have to get a real home phone for service because this one is very crappy! Unless you plan on using directly with the modem, I don't recommend it.

I called magic jack in they said they weren't going to charge my card until the 30 days were up they lied in charged my account 2 times for 1 magic jack in that's not right I don't have no money to give away I have kids, and I'm pissed i want my fucking money back they took $95 dollars for 1 magic jack where they do that at. Thats false advertising anyway because they said wouldn't charge your card until 30 days but soon as I hung up they took my money. Scam, scam, scam.

Cancelled my account

The owner and Inventor of this company is Dan Borislow and he lives in Palm Beach Florida. He also has a Facebook page. I think it is time to get the federal government involved with his fruad. There is an articular in the newspaper in Palm Beach paper. It seem he has other problems.
May be if enough people contact him he will return all the money he owes. He is a real scam artist.

Cancelled my account

Had MagicJack just over a year and it worked...okay. One month after I renewed the subscription for two years I returned home from 3 days away to find they had deactivated my account. I contacted them through their 'live chat' and was told it was deactivated for over use. No one had even been at the house during that time frame, no one could have used the phone. I lost two years subscription, the phone number, and have a box full of business cards that are useless now (because of the phone number). I explained to them no one could have used the phone, they said there was nothing they could do about it. My new goal in life is to disuade everyone I can from using their 'services'. With new competitive products on the market now who actually have customer service I see a steep decline in Magicjack sales coming...

I had hoped this would solve my problem of a land phone, well, at first it worked for a couple of days and then it was down hill for the rest of the days I have had it, when it works it is very clear sound. Right now I cannot make a call out and I have worked with their tech people for a hour or two at a time, I guess I will return to Walmart for a exchange hoping for one that works right. anyone who can help, please let me know.

Scam and cheating

Hello, Magic Jack. I know you exist because you withdrew the money out of my account 30 days early. I 'm sending this mess back it doesn't work. At least not in our territory.
I was willing to conrinue to wait for some one to contact me but time is runnung out on my thirty day agreement.
I pray that your agreement is better than your product. Please refund all of my money.

This product, service and customer service is the worst

I purchase this jack it work well but customer service is sooo bad, I was billed 3 times for over $250 dollars for a purchase of $82.00.They keep billing me every week so I had to cancel my credit card to stop this nonsense. I will never see this money again and they can't tell me why I am being billed non stop like that. They have no phone number only chat ??? hello they are selling a telephone jack for god sake. I think their payment site is not secure at all, and I keep receiving email to tell me that I did not pay for the jack and to enter my credit card number .Some scammer got hold of their web site and they can get all the information they need to billed you every day if you dont happen to look at your statement . So be aware of that

This product, service and customer service is the worst

Bad performance – worse customer support. Had the MagicJack for several months now. The audio stopped working on most of the calls placed and received. Can’t hear incoming calls and can’t hear outgoing calls. This renders the MJ useless. Spent several hours with customer support. They are unable to resolve and unable to escalate and unable to do anything now. Now when I ‘chat’ with customer service they are unwilling to help. They tell me I am out of options. They will not refund me for the 5 years of service I purchased and they do not participate in number portability so I can’t take my number to another provider. I really am out of options. I bought it now can’t use it several months later because it is broken. This product, service and customer service is the worst.

Classic bait and switch tactics

I just tried magic jack . They bait you in by saying they won't charge anything if you're not satisfied. It echoed so bad, I couldn't even use it to check my phone messages. I had to pay to return it, and they kept $10 even though I hadn't made 6 minutes in calls, and returned it the day I received it.

Warning: Must plug into usb Port

I have tried and tried to work with tech support, first they just cut me off. then when i went back in they wouldn't give me a live agent. I am very upset. I have been trying to get this fixed for two weeks.
