MAVIS ROUTE 10 NJ

Bought a tire, it blew within first hour of use. Called road side service, Mavis never put spare back in my car, My Wife left work and drove 25 minutes to get spare tire from Mavis, Raz from Mavis gave spare tire, Not mine. We drive 25 minutes back. Wait for Road side. Spare is not good,(Leaks) Now I need a tow.(Raz does not know a good tire from a bad one? he sells them?) I mention to RAZ about missing spare. He tells me I am using this missing spare as trying to manipulate him to sell me a tire for a cheaper price for the one damaged. (Defective tire?) And he is not going to give me the deal he was going to.(?) I just wanted my tire back, I could care less about a DEAL. He also said he has nothing to do with the spare missing and go somewhere else or complain to main office. This man knows NOTHING about tires, RAZ also told me they NEVER ever used tubes in tires. Not only is he not a professional, he is not to bright. This person cost me and wife a days pay, 50 dollar tow, and much aggravation. If I was a manipulator, I would have used this, but never mentioned it. Because I'm a professional and stuck to the topic.(TIRES) I went to this place since it opened and was never treated this way. I will advise everybody in my town of east Hanover and my city coworkers by email (Hundreds Thousands) not to go to Mavis due to ONE MANS obnoxious incompetence.

Day wasted for two tires & oil change

My son took his car to Shrewsbury, NJ store on a scheduled appointment to have two tires replaced and an oil change. As he waited he was told he needed four tires, not two, and a complete brake replacement.

After declining the additional work, he did not see anyone again. Three hours later he was still waiting. When told his work was completed, he complained about the lack of communication and three hour wait time on a scheduled appointment.

The owner was unapologetic, even goading him go ahead and leave negative feedback as "there are thousands of feedback and it won't matter." Clearly, his refusal on the additional work had resulted in his poor treatment.
Avoid Mavis, their prices are really not as great as you might think either!

Mavis faulty repair - damage to vehicle

Incompetence or unethical practice
Took vehicle in for oil change, manager suggested brake and power steering fluid change, I authorized.
12 days later started having trouble with steering. Returned to shop, I was told there is air in the system they said they fixed the air in the system and there was some fluid or buildup and they could not tell if there was a leak, but bring it back in a week or so for them to look at.
I drove 170 miles, difficulty with steering and within a day I was at another repair shop, there was no power steering fluid in the system, the underside of the vehicle and the driver’s side wheel was saturated with fluid and the PS rack needed to be replaced.
The vehicle never had any PS issue prior to the fluid change, there was no mention of build up or fluid at the time the fluid was changed. So, what happened to the PS system happened during and after the fluid change. Mavis claims there is nothing that they could have done during the fluid change that would have caused this issue with the power steering system or power steering fluid leak. The repair and rental car cost $750.00 and Mavis is refusing to reimburse

While I was waiting to get the 'air in the system' fixed another customer had come and said he had been in about 2 weeks ago for oil change and now his vehicle engine was making horrible noise, he had it recorded on his cell.

Service

I went to the store to have my front brakes serviced and when I arrived for my appointment I wasn’t assisted for almost 30 minutes. The person at the service desk was very nice and accommodating. He came to tell me that my brakes would be fixed and it would cost approximately $250.00, which was fine. I then proceeded to wait for almost 3 hours while other vehicles came and left having had much more work done than I was having. I noticed the man Alfredo who was working on my car seemed to be taking a lot of breaks. My agitation must have shown because all of a sudden there seemed to be a flurry to assist me. Alfredo comes out to tell me I am all set, I say are you sure because I am going away for the weekend on a long ride and he says oh yes you are ok. He then says to me that as a courtesy he removed my back brakes to check on them and noticed a large amount of rust but told me just to let it work it’s way out. I said that seems odd but he said no it is normal, so since he is the expert I will listen. I leave with my car making noises and I have an understanding from Alfredo that I bring the car back in a week if it doesn’t stop. This noise continues on for days and it is now the 4th of July holiday weekend and I can’t bring my car in as they are closed. On Sunday the 6th of July I decide to bring my car back for service and plan to leave it overnight. As I go to drive out of my parking lot, my foot literally slams off the brake pedal thrusting toward my face and my car completely stops moving. Now my car (my only form of transportation) becomes disabled I have to have it taken to another repair shop to be fixed and when the mechanic takes off the tire to inspect the brake work which was supposedly looked at, my rear brakes fall to the ground in pieces. The mechanic informs me that if the mechanic from Mavis had even looked at my rear brakes he would have seen this. Also due to the fact it took a lot of time and effort to remove the cover for the tire/brakes it showed it hadn’t been removed in a long time so no way had it been removed just a week ago. Also there was no rust whatsoever on my brakes and seeing as my car isn’t that old and has only 50, 000 miles I wasn’t surprised to see that. The mechanic actually took me in the shop to show me.
I then had to have my brakes repaired again but the mechanic took pity on me and gave me some financial assistance.
I was without a car though for 4 days which caused me to seek alternate transportation to work at a cost to me.When I did reach someone at the Mavis “customer service” line – Joel to be exact he was extremely argumentative and told me that if his technician said he looked at my car he did and when I questioned him about the mechanics finding that there indeed was no rust whatsoever he said that is because as his technician pointed out the rust worked its way out which the mechanic said is impossible since there was no rust to begin with. I tried to explain this to him but he wasn’t interested in hearing my point.

Service

I went to mavis in rome ny because i had a flat tire. They serviced my car in a hour and the manager was nice.Come to find out they took the drivers side tire off, when the flat was on the passengers side and they put a old used tire in replace of my brand new tire on the drivers side.they did'nt fix the passenger side tire, and i ended up buying a new one.All four tires matched and you can tell that the drivers side is not the original. Scammed in rome ny.
