Allowed someone to use my money on the card
Recieved a MasterCard gift card in the amount of $100. When I went to use the card for the first time, I discovered the balance was $5. I called and was told my card had been "hacked". Someone used it at a Starbucks, spending $95. How can they when I have the card? Evidently, you can ask Starbucks to run 6 numbers and see if there is any money on it (for a $1 fee). Then use it without the card in hand. And I am out the $95 they spent. Being a MasterCard does not offer any protection, I was told by the company I should give cash instead of a prepaid gift card as Christmas gifts. What a rip off. I blame Starbucks also for allowing this to continue.
