This company will stop at nothing to try and trip you up. You can pay on time, in advance, in excess etc.. and they still have their own agenda. We basically refinanced almost a year ago on our home that we have an excessive amount of equity in, to a lower interest rate. We pay in advance. We pay an additional $500 per month. We were not required to escrow because of the excessive equity. We received a notice that NStar did an analysis and that flood insurance is required (fyi we've had flood insurance for years and have been paying it directly to the insurance agency) We called and spoke to someone who had such a heavy accent that I could barely understand them, however she assured me that she didn't show escrow and to disregard the notice. I have dealt with N/Star for years and before that Flagstar so of course I know better..... even though we closed and our closing documents state "no escrow" I received another letter last week that they were going to escrow the flood insurance. I called and spoke to another rep who said she would put in a cancellation request and it would go in effect in a few weeks. Again, I know NStar and I am very familiar with their practices, so I send an email which prompts a response that they would do an investigation and get back to me in 7 days. I call again and was told a whole other story and then asked to speak to a supervisor who barely could speak intelligible English... she is stated now that Flood insurance is required the first year of a loan(even though we've never escrowed this) and I could call and cancel after a year... my flood isn't due to the end of the year and by August it will have been a year. Did I mention that the only reason I had to refi is because this company refused to drop my pmi even though we had massive amounts of equity so we had to refinance just to get this dropped, sorry if I don't believe that a simple request to not escrow flood insurance is going to happen. It's just insane how they do business even with customers that are attempting to do everything right. I cannot wait until this loan is finished and will go through my credit union next time to avoid having to deal with these people or have other banks sell my loan to them....
