Illegal billing
I phoned NetOne international to cancel my services with them in October of 2016. The person I spoke to said that my account is cancelled. The reason for my cancelling was that they held my line so that I could not make any long distance calls overseas and my father-in-law was ill with heart trouble. They held the line because I was two weeks late to pay fro a bill that amounted to $16.00 or thereabouts. I called them repeatedly and payed the bill. They said the line would be released but they never released the line and I was not able to make any long distance calls for two months. In January, I started receiving collection calls for outstanding bill amounts. I told the gentleman who called that I cancelled the line in october and that I have not been able to use the phone for long distance since they did not release the line. He said that they cannot cancel until I pay the outstanding amount. I did not bother because I should not have been charged any amount for a line that was not going through anyway. FInally, I got fed up of the calls and I called them on March 9th, 2017. I was told that I now had a bill of $242.91! They cannot cancel my account until the payment is received. I screamed at the lady at this point. I was going to send them a cheque so I could be done with them, and obtain a record of cancellation on my accounts. Then, I thought, why am I paying for services I haven't used???? Where did they come up with that number? I called back and asked for someone togive me a detailed breakdown of each month's bill from October to February 2017. I started investigating their track record as a company as well. They were imposed with a 1.6 million dollar charge for "cramming" customers. - incorrectly billing them after they had cancelled their services. I am planning to seek legal advice. DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY.
