To many who are complaining about NYCHA, or its self service portal, please remember that NYCHA is the most corrupt agency in NYC. If everything was working as you expected, do you know how many millions of people would overload as it is decrepit system designed to serve union workers feeding off people needing housing.

NYCHA Self-Service Portal

Today I received my annual recertification reminder in the mail, and as someone who prefers the convience of online transactions I was excited about completing my paperwork from home. What was supposed to be a quick process took almost 45 minutes. This is probably one of thee most non-user friendly portals I have ever dealt with. It took forever for me to log in due to the site claiming I had entered the wrong password. I even tried on my phone, no such luck.

Finding the actual link that takes you to the recertification page was like searching for a needle in a haystack. It's extremely frustrating.

No Water at all

Hi,
My name is Sibil, resident of 414 Baltic St. Brooklyn, NY 11217.
I have reported at 8:50 pm that the whole apartment don't have water. I thing this is an emergency. They said that they will fix the problem immediately. I waited for them to fix the problem for more than 14 hours, still no result been made. We are dying here with no water. Than I called again to remind them that we have placed a service call last night. And they answered rudely, very unprofessional, said that they know we placed a service call but they still don't know the problem yet and they will send someone to investigate the problem. They just kept talking without giving me a chance to explain how long that I been waited and how serious living without water for more than 14 hours.

Why do they always ignore every-time I place a call service and very late to respond to fix any problem.

Self SERVICE Portal

The self service portal is awful. The coding must have been done by children! I have been trying to log on to pay my mothers rent and it is so frustrating. We've changed user names and passwords over and over to no avail! Ironically, you need your username and password to work in order to click on the tech support button!!! I've never written a complaint on a public site like this but am so annoyed that I can not resist to warn others to avoid the NYCHA site!

credit to my rent

All I know is my daughter keeps getting the runaround from Ms. Williams and Mr. Laguda at Morris Houses. They are not professional or efficient in doing their job. If I worked the way they work and NOT WORK, I would be fired at my job. It is unbelievable how they have treated my daughter as if she is a jerk, poor and uneducated dummy, who doesn't need to be respected or attended to. 1373 Washington Ave., BX, NY. Yes, That is where those two #$! work if you can call it work because they do nothing. Not even answer the telephone. Does housing just unplug their phones in order not to take calls? Are they always out on the FIELD? It is truly a joke what NYC Housing Authority is.

so many complaints

bathroom ceiling is almost down but I'm told it is fine yet water keeps leaking, no hot water, no heat, mold all over the bathroom, rodents and cockroaches, credit due on rent for more than a month and still trying to get credited, rude nycha workers, managers, assistants, omg! how the poor are treated is unbelievable. I cannot understand how these workers are so rude and don't do their jobs but continue to keep their jobs and nobody hears the tenants. if I did the things they do at my job, I would be fired immediately, but they work for the city so they are protected? where is justice? where is accountability? where is the compassion?

I had signed up qith nycha in 09 it finally gotten a interview for the nice program in 2014 and gotten certified June 2014. At that time my son was only turning 4 at the end of the year so I understood the reason for the one bedroom. I never gotten called to view an apartment it is now the ending of 2017. When my son turned 6 in 2016 I told nycha I will be needing a two bedroom they said well tell the development. I told the development secretary she said just wait until you get called for a one bedroom. I never got calles since 2014 now it was 2016 i needed a 2 bedroom and still haveny been called sonow in 2017 I ask to be placed on another development. Now I am on the other waiting list for nostrand house now my old waiting list development called me Taylor at the I told them my son was turning 7 she told me I would had been turned around anyway because I don't qualify for a one bedroom. When my son turn six they should had up me nycha didn't they said that the development suppose to the lady said no honey that is not true. Now my new development I look at the portal it still say one bedroom I called nycha nycha again for this development as well to tell call and tell the development I called the nostrand houses and they said no you have to do it from nycha I called nycha and told them. A female had me on the line for over 15 min and said she put the request in. I go to the nycha portal everyday since then this is week 3 and still it says one bedroom. None of my other documents they said they needed was ever looked at everything just seems to be a mess. I have ptsd and my environment now is not good for me. I need some kind of help it's going on four year with no apartment to view

No hot water

Robert. Fulton Houses in Chelsea New York City in 420 west 19 street has been giving limited hot water. Right now and most of the day again 10th floor does not have hot water, at least the F line. The bathroom water is now frozen. This has been going on for awhile.

living conditions

i have been living in nycha for 6 years and it has been nothing but a nightmare my kitchen cabinets are falling of the wall and to paint and plaster are crumbling due to water damage . my fridge which i do not use leakes and is full of roaches due to them not fixing the gasket correctly the leak has also made the the tiles in the kitchen tiles come up and mold under i have had 6 floods which have left me and my 8 yr old without furniture due to water damage and mold and we had to use cholthes and bed sheets to sop up the water i have been asking for a transfer since my daughter turned 5 .still nothing they told me it is under the discretion of the housing manager weather or not i get a transfer my daughter and i are always sick since we moved in i need help

not able to get a transfer

I have mold very badly in bathroom thy came n cleaned it yet it keeps coming back..my wall needed plastering, they came out and made problem worser.i have mouse nests in my kitchen I called for exterminator they only came with 2 glue pads and said that's all they can give. I would like to know with having 5 girls and 1 son why am I not allowed to get a transfer and my HA says I'm only in title to a 3 bedroom. .the ages are 26 yr 12yr 8yr 10 yr and 5yr old females and 18yr old male including myself. Thanks for your time and patience. I hope to hear from you soon.

HI my Name is Morton Perry i live in the Lincoln housing at 1960 Park Ave 2d I have a bed bound wife and she is on a special diet i do not have any cabinets or counter tops to place the machines on to blend the food and process other foods Housing told me that i would have to wait until September the 28 before anything can be done. This is a 504 apartment work order no.36828562 the removal was done on the 17 of august.The cabinets which were left are in the middle of my kitchen stacked this is dangerous we are Handicap,i called the number of the planning unit and they said that only if the manager instructed them to finish the work they would do so other wise i have to wait until September 28 I pay my rent and ask for very little but for my family of four including my self to live with dignity my email is [email protected]. 1960 Park Ave 2D NY NY Lincoln Houses Manhattan.

No Water/no Heat

I don't know what kind of people NYCHA has working for them these days. I live in.Soundview Hiuses.
There's always a problem with either no heat no hot water this morning 3/7/14 to no water at all. There seems to be a lot
of laziness, incompetency or just plain unconcern among management and the workers. Calling the Bronx
district office does not matter. You get transferred to a voice mail leave a message and you never get a call
back.. I have made several attempts to ask for reasons why these problems are not being addressed and resolved.
only to be told there are problems with the boiler. How many years does it take for NYCHA to get qualified licensed
plumbers electricians and maintenance workers who can do the job? The people in the management only are
concerned about the rent everything else is secondary. It is very frustrating and unhealthy to sleep in an apartment with no heat
all week or weekend to go from the cold house to a cold street. Sometimes it's colder in my apartment then it is in the street.
sometimes these workers come to your apartment feeling the pipes checking the water temperature and still nothing sometimes they come three days after the complaint has been called even though there is supposed to be a 24 hr turn around in response.

Repair problems

I live in Fulton Houses 17th STREET in 9th AVE this is the worst development i have ever lived in. I have my mold in my bathroom due to not having windows, who ever the asinine designer was who decided that the bathroom didnt need a window where we hang clothes and take showers naw the steam doesn't need to travel no let it just sit and create mold ok broken floor tiles, dirty laundry water backing up in my kitchen sink from my lovely neighbors, paint chipping, an exposed socket, a door barely hanging on the hinges due to being old and never changed. I'm venting becauce this board isn't ment to help the tenants but for the top workers to read and laugh about seeing they get paid to do nothing and they dont have to live like this. The elevators are always broken or people are getting stuck in them and we have three, the fire department comes hours after hearing the darn disstress bell yet everyday its the same situation. We constantly have no hot water or they are cutting the water off all together, garbage piled high in the stair well, human and dog urine in the elevator and in the stair well, as well as human and dog feces. I'm apart of the working families who live in housing and this is a joke; you have to dish out money every first of the month or be threatened with an eviction yet you never get your repairs when needed and its like living in the shelter that you have to pay for. The workers are asinines they get paid to do nothing the manager makes and receives personal phone calls all day long they sit with paper work on their desk as if they do work when all they talk about is peoples apartments and what they're eating for lunch lol. The area in which the development is located is sweet but a dark cloud hangs over these houses "literally". Oh and let me not forget that the ground workers fraternize sexually with the tenants here i thought that you where here to due a job but lazy non supervised low life people will get in where they fit in so so sad. Instead of tickets getting taken care of they close them out claiming they where there with no answer when they're doing other things. Why and how is it that tickets are allowed to be closed out with no signature??? You can send in a complaint as i did it wont help, housing court will just keep having you come back like a chicken with head and acting a fool will definitely get you no where my advise take pictures of everything and record all conversations, there is no greater power than evidence that speaks for it self and can't be disputed. If i could i would love to live in a condo or brownstone cause aleast your money speaks for it self and you pay for what you get. I pay to receive feces i am so depressed i have a therapist over this and am taking depression pills im waiting for a transfer out of here yet it seems it may never happen since i gotta wait until someone becomes deceased before i can maybe move in depending on what number i am on the list. Housing makes rules they never abide by they have people living in non sized apartemnts I.E. my grandmother lives in HARLEM RIVER in a two bedroom by her self and i have a nine year old son and lives in a one bedroom waiting for a death to occur or and eviction to happen so that i can live in the appropriate sized apartment. May God bless me with HELP ASAP!!!

Repair problems

As landlord I often wonders why HPD only respond to tenants and not to the landlord. One of my tenants call HPD about no heat before calling me. HPD came out an issue a violation. When HPD contacted me I immediately call the pluming company, who told me that the problem was not the heat was an electrical problem. I immediately call the service man and restore the heat to the apartment. HPD is now taking me to court for not providing heat to the tenants. I find this is very unfair. HPD should first asked the tenants if they contacted the landlord. They also have to give time to get the service man to the building. I also posted the name of my service man on the board in my building, stating in case of an emergency, they should call the service man. I never heard anything from them again. When I tried to call some of them I do not get any answer. I always got in touch with one tenant and always asked if there are any problems and she sometimes call when there is a problem. On March 14, 2012, one tenant called me and tell me that their apartment is too hot I need to turn the heat down. I told her I am going to call the service man, who turn the heat down that day and turn it back up during the night. On March 24, I got a letter stating that I failed to provide heat. The tenants call HPD stating that I did not give heat. I have the tenant in court for non-payment of rent and she is facing an eviction so she is looking for reasons for not paying the rent. I think HPD should contact the landlord and find out what is happening before issuing violations. These tenant often damage the apartments, and then call HPD. They bring added people in the housing to live for free while taxpayers foot the bills. HPD should try to fix the loop holes in the system instead, they issue violations, and respond to every calls that tenants make without consulting with the landlords. That is the reason why some of these tenants think that their life is a free ride, they can damage your building, pay no rent, and HPD will protect them.

Repair problems

I would like to know why HPD only respond to tenants and not to landlords. I have tenants who call HPD about heat before they let me know that the heat is not coming up. Tenants call me in March 2012 stating their apartment is too hot and ask me to turn down the heat and then they call HPD stating that they have no heat. Tenants owed rent and when you take them to court for nonpayment of rent they destroy the apartment and then call HPD. When the landlords try to call HPD no one picks up the phone. HPD does not wants to here what the landlord has to say they just issue violations and give a time to get them fix. It seems as if the tenants have the right to destroy your property, and pay no rent because HPD will support them. Tenants have her daughter and 2 children move into the housing and they are not on the least, she destroy the apartment and then call housing. HPD goes after landlords but not after the loop holes in the system because tax payers are picking up the cost.

Repair problems

I live in 41-02 12 Street Long Island Apts, and the lady on the first floor smokes cigarettes every day at the lobby door. The wind from outside blows the smoke in the building. Every time I go downstairs, she is there. I have asthma and a high rate of heartbeat because of this. I feel she is killing me with her second hand smoke. Is there anything the city can do to make her stop?

Rude and unprofessional workers

I have two girls 2 months old and a 8 year old and a boy age 2 years old and my housing assisstant denied me for three bedrooms my rooms are small my manager look at my application for a second and denied quick.
