Weird Taste in occasional cigarette

I have smoked Pall Mall Red and blue 100's and shorts for over ten years. For some odd reason there is the occasional cigarette in a pack that has a weird taste. Something akin to thyme or sage. I know it has nothing to do with my taste buds because I can put out the weird tasting cigarette and immediately light another and the new cigarette does not have the weird taste. Is there an ingredient or perhaps improper mixing that causes this?
