I am not sure how far this website will get me - but I have to try to reach someone if they are considering using Platium Builders to construct their custom home in New Braunfels, Texas. Frank Johnson and Steve Smith have been building my home for 1 full calendar year (Feb 2017-Feb 2018) during this time they have grossly mismanaged the budget without my knowledge, not only leaving me to ask the bank for $100,000 above the original amount (approved for $216 at the beginning and ended up in FHA for $314) but forcing me to pay thousands of dollars into an interim loan during construction. I can only assume they have inflated quite a bit of the building costs. They never had any subcontractors at the construction site! It took a year! I signed the closing documents 3 days ago even though there are open wire outlets, holes in the foundation in the laundry room, light switches that do absolutely nothing, etc. I can seriously go on and on - and I haven’t heard a peep from them about what they are planning on doing to remedy any of this. They also filed a lien on the house for an addition $10,000 only further delaying closing. During the mid point of construction, they hired a subcontractor Lance Mickey to do tile work, painting, etc. He was given $13,500 without work rendered. This subcontractor took off with the cash and I was left to foot the bill, even though Platium Builders were the ones writing the checks. Given the situation, I have decided to enter into a law suit - and because of this decision, I have to be very careful what I chose to make public and to make sure that everything I am stating is true. Please do not use this company, it is too bad that this experience can not reach more people.
