My husband kept getting excessive calls off his phone from a company asking for me. I called the number since they claim they were threatening to come to my job and serve me papers! First of all, if you are going to serve someone, you are not going to call and let the person know, you are going to just do it. So I call and find out that these folks are calling on behalf of a Providian Bank and they said it was either a Chase account or something to that effect (no pertinent information at all) and stated I owed $790 from back in 2003! First of all, I never banked with either of those banks and I have since cleaned my credit report a year ago to purchase a home. I have NEVER seen anything on my report about that, and I politely went off on them stating I do threats and unless there is some correspondence that has been sent, I don't owe and WONT pay a dime. The man insists to tell me about coming to my job. I wish they would. They would be politely escorted off the premises. I am consulting with my attorney on this, because I know for a FACT that after 18 years of not hearing a peep from these so-called folks, I am more than sure that this is a FRAUD!
