Extremely loud Testing unable to test
I was finally was ready to take the CCDS exam. The CCDS testing site had changed to a PSI site. The building was right next to a major highway near downtown Cincinnati, OH. The noise of the traffic was so loud, I could hear the trucks breaking loudly and skidding to slow down, and cars passing and COULD NOT concentrate immediately upon the start of my exam! I asked for earplugs, I could still hear it loud and clear. I tried their headphones too but it was still extremely loud. I even pressed the headphones against my ears and it still was still too loud. I was only 7 minutes into the test. I was very upset when the proctor did not seem to know what to do as the time was ticking away. She said all that could be done was to fill out an interruption form? So I called the testing center, because they would not, (later I was told they should have) and they said they had to file a complaint that took 24-48 hours for results and they could not tell me that I could reschedule or what to do with the current test? I was completely stressed out because I had been waiting for 30 min at that point on the phone without a resolution, and still on the clock without knowing if I should try again with the noise and now less time? So then I called the company I tested for and spoke with a Rep. She was nice but said I needed to speak with a certain person. She told me an incident form needed to be filled out by the proctor and sent to a certain person. I asked if the proctor had that information but she did not seem informed. The only option they gave me was to have me check mark a page that stated that I would reschedule. I was not able to fill out any other information nor do I know if it was correctly sent and communicated. I called the PSI center back again after to ensure I had done the right thing and taken the correct steps and spoke with a rep. She said I did the right thing if the noise pollution was too distracting to take the exam, which it definitely was. I mentioned my concern about the lack of policy and procedure, as well as the need for re-evaluation of the site for appropriateness for testing. The proctor at the center said people complain about the noise and the highway noise was one of the first things the proctor mentioned when she offered ear plugs and headphones. The drive was an hour away as well and I was told the next closest site is Richmond, IN? It's about 1.5-2 hours away. Something needs to be done! This is an inappropriate site for testing and unprofessional with lack of protocol!
