cancellation of membership

Trying to cancel my membership at Retro fitness. I can'st get a response from them regarding this matter.I received a letter from a collection agency stating that I owed money when membership was cancelled back in April, 2017. Tried to get a copy of application to check the cancellation policy and was told they had none at the facility.
