I currently have a mortgage on my house with Specialized Loan Servicing. My account was sold multiple times over the past years and I am trying to refinance and save my property. I fell behind on my mortgage payments starting back in 2009 due to cancer and being unemployed for 10 months. SLS would not accept partial payments and returned any payments I sent to them if it was not the exact amount. I have also been remarried with a new legal name and they refuse to change my name, keeping my exhusband on the loan even though the divorce papers state he no longer has any tie to the property. The next downfall for me was 2 1/2 years ago, my husband was diagnosed with cancer. His last treatment was one year ago. The medical bills have piled up between the both of us. Then, one year ago, he was permanently laid off from his job. We had tried to refinance with SLS, jumping through all of their hoops. Finally, after 2 months of filling out forms for them, they accepted us in a trial period of 3 months. We were able to make the first 2 payments of almost $1,500 each month, but because my husband had not found a job yet, we were not able to make the 3rd payment in full. I tried to make 2 partial payments equal to the 3rd payment, but they refused that also. We were then denied the refinance and they forclosed on my property. I have just found this out and that my house is listed for a Sheriff's Auction on March 13, 2018. I do not want to lose this property. I have been trying to work with them and they refuse to do anything, refuse to accept any payments, even though they state they are a bill collector. I cannot speak with anyone live as I always get an automated system. Then, I find out that the $3000 that I paid in Jan. and Feb. of 2017 are not even applied towards the mortgage. I am desperate to get out from under SLS, but no one will even give us a chance. We want to be able to pay for the house, but SLS is preventing us from doing so. This land was given to me by my parents and the house was built on the 14 acres. The house is the only thing tied to the mortgage since the land was a gift. I do not know what to do. Is there any help out there for me?
