Hacked Account Charges
I recently received an email notification that someone was trying to login to my StubHub account - thanks to two factor authentication. I quickly contacted StubHub Customer Support. In this time, whoever had gained access to my StubHub account also must have had access to my email, because they did gain access to my StubHub account and tickets were posted and sold for an event. In talking to the representative, I let them know this occurred and that I did not post the tickets. I also said I would be changing my email password and locking my PayPal account as to make sure I did not receive any money or that the payout method was changed and someone else ended up receiving money. I also wondered if they would let the buyer of the tickets know and/or check the authenticity of the tickets, because they could very well be fraudulent - it all seemed suspicious. I was assured they would and I was thanked for reporting this, told my StubHub account would be locked, and I would receive a follow up shortly.
Fast forward two weeks, having not heard anything, and I receive an email saying that StubHub could not prove that my account was hacked, that the tickets sold were in fact fraudulent, and that I am responsible for a $1,000+ charge. In talking with the fraud officer they were not able to provide any reason as to why they determined it was not fraud, even though I immediately reported it. I questioned and questioned how or why it would make sense for me to post fake tickets, report it as fraud, and not receive any money. It simply does not. I cannot understand why I am being charged, other than that this occurred on my account - which I reported as being compromised.
There must be something I can do to fight these charges. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
