I absolutely love Hallmark. Mostly due to it's wholesome content in the shows that I have watched, which seems to match my own moral character.

Recently, I noticed while watching the Good Witch that I have only seen one African American character playing a very minor part. I believe she was judging a Halloween baking contest. I then thought about my other two favorite shows, "Chesapeake Shores" and the "When Calls the Heart"

This begs the question... "Why is there such a beacon light pointing out this lack of inclusion for an entire race of people in 2021?"

Unfortunately, I am forced to stop supporting the Hallmark brand, (which really breaks my heart) until I see a measurable change.

I love The Good Witch! It has all my values wrapped into one show. But I can’t get my friends interested due to the lack of diversity. Whenever a Black, Asian or other minority appears on screen, it is usually as an extra or a one time actor with one line.

I really want more of my friends to get into the show, but I understand their point as they don’t feel represented.

I feel like Hallmark could do more to diversify their casts. The couple times a black actor was featured, they have a very Caucasian look. Megan Markle, who is gorgeous, is also half White. Jessica Szhor has blue eyes. I haven’t seen a main or even supporting character that is Asian, Latina or anything other than White.

Hallmark has stated they take diversity seriously. But there hasn’t been much effort to prove it.

Being a White woman myself, I too would like to see mores diversity.

I think it’s also in Hallmark’s interest to diversify as it would help build their brand and appeal to more audiences.

It just makes sense.
