I am also a victim. I have cancelled my credit card account that I had with and had the charges labeled as fraudulent. I got billed twice in one month by Sunset Publications and once by Family Readers. I had a magazine subscription back in March of 2011 but had it cancelled. Out of the blue I get a call from one of these "companies" saying that I needed to confirm my account information with them. I told them that I would not do that over the phone and that if was important that they could send me a notice in the mail. I then started asking questions and they got very angry and were very rude. I didn't give them any information and as a result, I got frequent phone calls. One day they called me 4-5 times in a row, trying to harass me into it. Despite these efforts, I got charged anyways, and began getting magazines again. I called and asked to cancel they said that it was impossible. These people are lying, sneaky, and unethical. I am going to gather dates and send it a report to the BBB. I am afraid that this will ruin my credit. I am a student and I don't have the money to pay if they send me to collections, or if a lawyer is needed. I hope these thieves get locked up for what they are doing to people.

The experience written by omgcammers is almost exactly how things have played out for me. I never got confirmation of my cancellation. However, I was told they record everything, so I told them the found my original "sales" recording, they should be able to find the cancel calling. The "customer service rep." then "clarified" that only the "sales" calls are recorded, others are "documented" and implied human error was never a possibility with the documentation of such calls. I have filed complaints today with the Attorney Generals in both CA and FL as well as filing a complaint with the Central Florida BBB. I have requested of all 3 an investigation into the business practices with disciplinary action if wrong-doing is proven. It is only by complaining about such abusive companies that we will be rid of them.
OMGCAMMERS: Please file a complaint with the FL Attorney General's office (it is easy and on-line) and the Central Florida BBB (who gives them - Sunset Publications - a GRADE of "F". I think that is the lowest you can go.
