We took the "In Search of Northern Lights" Viking cruise in February of this year. Half way through the cruise, the Captain told us that there " was a hurricane coming across the Atlantic that could affect us so the boat "hid" in Tromso harbor for three days necessitating the cancellation of three excursions that we had signed up for (they did give us our money back for these excursions). Once the boat exited the protection of the inner passage,, we had to proceed so slowly that our stop in Amsterdam was cancelled and we headed to London directly. We arrived so many days late there that we missed our extension to go to Iceland for three days. In effect, our two week cruise was spent on the cruise for one week and then one week trapped on the boat. We understand that weather is God's realm and not Viking's, but, we thought that it would be professional of Viking and good for their future business if they would have offered us a discount on a future cruise for what we endured. We were offered a $200.00 deduction if we cruised again for our inconvenience on this $19,000.00 cruise!!! Viking, the last of the big time spenders!!!
