Booked one night hotel in Kailua, Hawaii via Vrbo. More than half of the total cost is fees and taxes. Canceled the reservation two weeks in advanced. Refused to refund anything not even the fees for the reservation that I never used. Will never use Vrbo again.

We did everything asked for on the check list when we left and, as suggested, left everything else to them. We left the condo in pristine condition. We were given low ratings (based on the housekeepers report, not witnessed by the one who gave us ratings. Perhaps they wanted more money from them for cleaning! I don’t know their motivation but we know we left this apartment in perfect condition. We were also dinged for poor communications, yet if you follow the communication thread in the property listing, yiu will see we communicated in a kind and friendly manner. We were dinged for not following rules. By whose judgement? We interfaced with no one and so we don’t know what that meant.
If you look at my history, you will see that I have been given top ratings by all others. We absolutely would like to change our own ratings of this place based on being misjudged by someone who never met us or personally checked how we left their condo. They have a lot of properties.
We are very disappointed with this experience and are considering not using HomeAway in the future. Someone should be able to substantiate their claims. We were not given ANY specifics on any of the items we were judged on.
