False Advertising - Not Fully Disclosing

The property manager failed to disclose on the advertised website regarding how treacherous it was driving on very curvy, single one way road to get to the cabin we rented. If another automobile either going down the treacherous road or coming up, someone had to back up to allow the descending auto to get to the bottom of Hidden Lake Dr. One side of the road was a rock wall, the other side was a 500 foot or more ravine. We met another car on Saturday after arriving and we tried to back up (Ram truck no 4 wheel drive) and we spun sideways on the small road almost hitting the rock wall and I was starring down the 500 foot ravine on my side of the truck. The other oncoming car was able to back down so that we could get to the main road. Our vacation was cut short and was not enjoyable at all because of the driving conditions we had to incur in getting to the cabin. We were severely restricted the 4 days we stayed there (left on Wednesday Morning June 12, 2019), we always had to ensure that we were back long before dark to avoid stress driving back to the cabin. Also, compounded with the dry road driving conditions, it rained most of the time we were there from Saturday, leaving on Wednesday. This made the driving more treacherous that it was. We should not have had any stress on our vacation. This is a time to relax and enjoy. The morning we left we met 5 cars that were coming up as we were going down. It took us an additional 45 minutes to drive the distance from 940 Hidden Lake Dr, Cherry Log Ga because of this. Had this been disclosed in the beginning, my husband and I would never have rented this cabin. Basically we felt like our vacation was destroyed because of the property manager Holly not disclosing these treacherous driving conditions. We should be told everything about this cabin and allowed to make the choice after having a full disclosure. This decision was taken out of our hands by the property manager. Also, the housekeeper, Jessica is one of the rudest people that I have ever come across. Her attitude basically voided the cleanliness of the cabin. I am asking for a full refund of our fees 929.46. I will also be posting other reviews regarding this cabin so that other potential renters will not be blindsided like my husband & I were.

First let me say that this oceanfront beach vacation was booked through VRBO on 7/26/18, paid in full on 7/29/18.. The rental was from 8/28/18 through 9/4/18. My daughter and her family just moved to St. Augustine due to her husband's job transfer and they had to rent a small townhouse while their house was being built in St. Johns county. We had lived next to each other for almost 20 years here in Coral Springs, Florida so even though their move was supposed to be a happy one, it was also bittersweet for all of us including my grandchildren. My husband and I decided after a month to rent a house in the St. Augustine area on the beach so that we could all spend labor day weekend together to ease a lot of our pain being separated. Since we used VRBO before, we decided to call them and we found a beach front rental in crescent beach florida which accommodated both families. I had specified to the VRBO agent that my husband and I had a 15 and a half year old soft coated wheaten dog so we needed a ground floor, walk on the beach house. I called my daughter to tell her the good news on 7/26/18. My grandchildren were ecstatic and called me or texted me every day with a countdown of how many more days we had left. On 8/27/18, the day before we were ready to leave, VRBO called and said the house we were renting had electrical problems which occurred before with this house and that we could not rent it! Besides being in shock!, we had rented a van for the bags and bags of groceries, chairs clothes etc. we had packed and everything was ready to go! VBRO said they had nothing oceanfront in a house on the beach but they were looking into condos! That was unacceptable since I would have had to carry my dog up and down 2 or 3 flights of stairs and the condo itself was too small! I asked the rental agent if they had any houses along any of the beaches close to St. Augustine and she said no. I was beside myself! I had to get off the phone and take a breath and asked her to call us right back with a solution. I waited over a half hour and still no call back. Time was running out as we had rented a van and would be penalized if we did not call early enough to cancel. When I called back, I was told nothing was available and they would return our money. Big deal!! Shame on your VRBO!! It wasn't about the money! It was about family! Everything is sitting in our living room and dining room ready to go and no thanks to you, our beautiful week was ruined. You did not only affect one family, you affected two!! Because of this, neither my husband or I or my daughter and her family will ever book another house with you again! I think what bothers me most about all of this is that I know in my heart you could care less and that is the real tragedy in all of this!

refundable deposit

I had a difficult time with the owner of a condo in Mexico. She still owes me about $90 from the $200 refundable deposit I gave at time of booking. I believe VRBO should intervene . I tried contacting them twice...to no avail.

I had great difficulty with the owner of a condo I stayed at in Mexico. She still owes me $90 and never paid. I tried contacting VRBO but to no avail. No return email. I do believe they should intervene when these matters happen.

Annoying ADDS constantly

I am soooo sick of your advertisements popping up in three different sections on my web pages. You can't close them, they are a memory hogs and slow down my viewing of what I am ACTUALLY trying to look at. Your prices have become ridiculous with all your "fees" for this "fees" for that! We used to use your service until you became greedy and in-affordable. STOP with the annoying ADDS or I'll report it.

Horrible experience dealing with this property manager. I had dates to stay here scheduled may 27-30 with my wedding guests for my destination wedding. The property manager sent a request for the full payment after initially paying them the deposit via vrbo after 45 days after booking reservation. only problem was, instead of requesting a full payment via vrbo, he requested a money order of cashiers check to an address in Canada. I informed him that I felt more comfortable using the website I initially used following with "if possible" (meaning is that the only option). He immediately cancelled without even answering my question and there was still 11 days due until the final amount was due. I pleaded with him that that really put a damper on my wedding plans and that I never asked for a cancellation, he replied that the owners wanted to stay on that night, therefore the reason for my cancellation. Do not book with these shady people because if the owners decide last minute that they want to come in town and stay, your plans are ruined. There are thousands of more homes to choose from. Do yourself a favor and choose elsewhere. Company is also on flipkey and others of the like. Property manager's name is Iverson Liu. Beware!!!

Owner Cancelled

I booked this VRBO about 3 months ago. My granddaughter is graduating from SLO and I wanted to be able to attend. The owner had a 5 day minimum, although I only wanted 3 days, the prices were escalated due to graduation week - I agreed to all of this. This morning I received an email stating they need the house themselves and are refunding my deposit.

Now, at this late date, there is absolutely nothing available in the entire area, from SLO, Avila Beach to beyond Pismo Beach. She suggested a property manager, who has nothing available. How disappointing.

Unjustified Cancellation

I started dealing with this property (Resort Rentals of St. Augustine; Paul Kieman) in December of 2014 for reservation in October 2015.
I signed and returned the rental agreement on December 22, 2014.
It was returned to me the following month with their concurrence.

The lease agreement specifically said that the 'TOTAL DUE AT CHECK-IN (INCLUDES TAX AND HOUSEKEEPING) $1,925 + $ 250 SECURITY DEPOSIT BY CHECK"
A copy of this is available upon request.

On June 16, 2015, almost six months after the agreement, I received a signed receipt request letter stating that our reservation had been cancelled for non-receipt of security deposit.
If he would have at least called me to discuss this, I would have immediately sent him the deposit and full payment.

I called Mr. Kieman to discuss this. He did not want to speak with me. In fact, he yelled, I do not want to rent to you and hung up.

Needless to say, at this late hour, we will not be vacationing in October.

We vacation 3 to 4 times a year using VRBO and I have never cancelled a contract or had a late payment.

Why I was cancelled, I guess I will never know.

If anyone wants to vacation in St. Augustine, I highly suggest you stay away from this company. THEY ARE NOT RELIABLE OR TRUSTWORTHY

Rental property cancelled

Rented a property over a month ago. My stay is in less than a week. I rec'd an email this morning that my reservation is cancelled. Trying to find an accommodation for 4 people in the same price range last minute will end up costing me more money. VRBO did NOTHING to help me. I will use AIRBNB or FLIPKEY from now on. NO WAY IN HELL will I use VRBO again.

Not as describted

We recently rented a home in Bodega Bay VRBO #587690. This home is outdated and neglected!!! The light over the garage is dangling and rusted, the front door is difficult to open and locks upon closing. All the outside light do not work, 6 total. Light switch in the entry does not work, missing blubs from the old style canned track lights. None of the outlets in the bedrooms work, none of the 5 TV's work, all old style no flat screen. The carpets are stained and dirty, the paint is peeling, window blinds broken and don't close, knobs off furniture, broken shutter door in kitchen. The kitchen appliances are old and dirty the ice maker does not work and is rusted. The laminate countertops are warped and cracked, the kitchen window will not open. The only condiment in the kitchen is salt. the sink leaks with a bowl under the counter to catch the leaks. So many missing light bulbs, no wood for the fireplace, the pool table is a mess with broken pool cues. No smoke detectors at all, no instruction what to do upon arrival or departure. This house is totally overpriced and dirty and dated. Please inspect this home it's a disgrace to the VRBO!!!

Bad Review being removed

I researched a condo in Hanalei Bay Resort to stay for a vacation in July 2014. We chose Hanalei Bay Resort condo #8102. There were several good reviews posted on VRBO and great pictures. Our condo definitely had problems and I would not recommend anyone else for a stay. After returning from our vacation I sat down and wrote out all of my reviews for all of the different places we visited. The review of the condo was not kind but respectful. My review was posted on VRBO approximately one week after I sent it in. I looked today to see if anyone else posted reviews this summer. My post was removed! The only thing on the condo's review was "there are no reviews on the property. You could be the first to review this property". Who has the right to remove the post? It was respectful and honest. I will never trust VRBO reviews again!

Vrbo #601319 puts inaccurate prices on the website. When you go to rent it, it is much higher.

agreement not received

I requested a rental and paid the 1/2 pmt by book it now. It stated the owner had 3 days to reply to my inquiry. I received nothing. I got a phone call from the owner today 1 month after I initially requested rental inquiring if we were coming or not as they had not received the rest of the payment. I said I never received anything. He had my email address WRONG. Said I filled it out wrong.... if I did, when there is a non existent email address, don't you get a bounce back? I do I tried it and got one with my "bogus" email. Why did he not call me then, instead of waiting a month? Now he says I have cost him rental income and he will not refund my payment unless he rents it. What can I do? Any help is greatly appreciated in how to deal with this.
