Fraud, Excessive Loans and Delays in Program
I would like to join the lawsuit again Walden University. I too suffered multiple delays and have been told by school districts and universities that the degree I earned from Walden is the equivalent to those of Corinth Colleges and not worth the paper written on. After my first semester there, I started asking questions about the program, why the delays, etc. and then I was told that my emails would be deleted on a regular basis. I was even "referred" to an APA editor because finding one on our own was not allowed. There were multiple delays in completing my program from "forgetting to be assigned" to my URR, committee members, even changing my dissertation an excessive amount of times flip flopping it back and forth more than 30 times to the same information. I was told that under the program I was completing, and due to the high needs areas in education, along with the types of schools I was teaching at (low-income, high numbers of low SES, 85% or more Hispanic, all receiving Title I, V, VII, IX and XI funds) that as long as I finished the program, Walden would cancel my loans accumulated from the program. They even told me that they would cancel my $4,000 left from my Masters program. I even tried using their employment services and was told after the third time that I had used all the time Walden allotted for employment assistance. I tried employment with Walden. Nothing. I now cannot find any employment in education and 16 years of my educational career has come to a complete stop. The high expectations Walden told me that would come from completing this program has been just the opposite. When I contacted the financial aid office, I was told that I would have to contact The US Dept. of Education to have all of my loans cancelled or just call the President of the United States. Needless to say, the US Dept. of Education told me that Walden took out multiple, separate and single loans from Sallie Mae instead of one, continuous billing process. This enabled them to bill at higher rates than the one I was told. The US Dept. of Education has told me that they are seeing many complaints like mine as Walden has not fulfilled the promises that were given. My dissertation was approved (after additional semesters) in December 2013 before the semester was over. I was still required to attend an additional semester with no program, no coursework, no nothing because they would not release my degree until April. Walden billed Sallie Mae for it. There was one time that I did think of withdrawing because of all of the delays and issues, but several times people from Walden called and made it very clear that if I did not finish the program, I would have to pay all the money back immediately and I did not have that kind of money. They made it very clear that if I withdrew, Walden would not surrender or cancel what had been borrowed. I had no choice but to finish the roller coaster ride. I have completed their Walden Alumni surveys, but it is clear that no one reads them or takes them seriously. I have left the same information on their surveys.
