Pain medication

Walgreens Pharmacy
6301 York Rd, Baltimore, MD 21212

I am a combat veteran who's been receiving pain management since 2014. Since Tricare switched from CVS to Walgreens (crossing my fingers they switch back), I've had prescriptions filled at Walgreens for a very low dose of Oxcodone for a couple of years. On Friday June 6th, after work around 6pm I took my prescription to be filled at the Walgreens pharmacy on 6301 York Road, Baltimore as it is walking distance from my house. The pharmacist told me, "we have to verify your prescription with your doctor," I said, "it is Friday at 6pm, of course the office is closed." She stated, "come back on Monday." I work 10 hour days--I will not be at that particular Walgreens during my doctors office hours. I said I've never had to have a Walgreens pharmacist call and verify my prescription. The pharmacist stated, "we have to verify ALL prescriptions for Oxycodone." That is not true! Especially in my case: I asked, "do you have a history of me filling this prescription at Walgreens?" She said, "yes." I said, "do you have a history of this prescription written by the same doctor for years?" She stated, "yes." Then why would you have to verify the prescription?? After doing research online, I found out that "calling the doctor" is optional, mostly in cases where the patient is new, the prescribing doctor is new. That was certainly not the case for me. Then I realized, of course...this is Baltimore...I am a non-white woman, so of course I am immediately seen as an addict, med seeker. I wish I did not have to be on pain medication, but right now, that is all the doctors have to offer me for relief of pain due to my service connected injuries. I use the medication so that I can function--I work full-time and want to be an active mother in my daughter's life. Shame on you Walgreens!

From now on, I will drive 35 plus miles to get my prescription filled at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center where I am treated with respect--A retired US Army Major, Medical Service Corp.

Medicine

September 6th I took a 5 prescriptions to Walgreens to be filled, I was told it would take 2 hours, I returned 2 hours later sat in the drive thru for 30 minutes before I was the next customer and then sat there another 15 minutes before I was serviced. Once I got home I realized a prescription hadn't been filled, when I called the pharmacy I was told that there was a problem with the dosage on the prescription and they'd have to contact the doctor the next day because at this time it's after 8pm and the doctors office is closed, I was told to call the pharmacy after 11am...Went to the pharmacy at approximately 2pm and spoke with the Pharmacist named Bah whom I found to be rude, discourteous and very nonchalant about the whole situation...No, my medicine still was not ready at the time..If he's what I have to deal with at Walgreens Pharmacy I will certainly take my service back to Rite Aid.
