Bad tour operator

I booked a trip with Yamany Tours in February along with my wife for our honey moon. From the very beginning of the trip the tour director Mr. Hany Samuel backtracked on several things that he had promised for the trip before hand in the agreement.

1. Mobile phone and local sim card : At first he totally denied that he had agreed to providing us with a mobile and sim forcing us to run up a huge bill calling up back home to assure family and relatives that we had arrived safely. later on after a huge argument he grudgingly provided two sims.

2. Visit to solarboat at the pyramids : while visiting the pyramids the tour director denied that he had agreed to us visiting to see the solar boat from inside the building where it is housed (although in the schedule) and said that we could view it from the outside or pay extra.

3. On the first day of our schedule we wasted time at the perfume, jewelery and paintings store that the tour guide insisted on taking us. As a result we missed our last stop on the schedule i.e Memphis. This couldn't have been a problem however the tour director then insisted it was actually our fault as unbelieveably we had wasted a lot of time taking photos.

4. On the nile cruise in Luxor the room given to us was situated right next to the engine room of the boat despite my repeated notes to the tour director that it should not be the case. As a result we spent most of the next three nights constantly awake listening to the engine noise. After complaining me and my wife were told that it was "not their problem".The tour director also forgot to mention that the entire boat was catered towards german tourists with everything including the food and prices targeted towards them.

5. When part of our trip was cancelled due to the problems starting in Cairo, and we were heading back to the airport to catch a flight back to our home country, no help was forwarded from the tour director and company stating that they had problems reaching the airport, although when we arrived there we could see new arrivals coming and going.

6. When i finally asked for a refund for the lost part of my trip Yamany tours then decided to keep me hanging for a few months and then offered a meager sum if my local travel agent would provide them with a new group for egypt.

I would sincerely recommend to avoid Yamany tours as they are highly unprofessional and create a highly stressful atmosphere for their clients.

Dear Mr. Hany Samuel

it is so nice to hear from you, considering that you have been mostly silent on the topic of my refund despite my repeated mails. It is enlightening to know that the guilty conscious of your Company has been awakened by my article on the mistreatment that you and your Company have meted out to me and my wife during our honey moon. I also have a reply to your so called comments:

1. "no one gives a Mobil where each client to attend its mobile device .. Despite this, the client was given two lines instead of one line".

Ans: When i am paying a tour company for a tour package in which i have specified a mobile sim and phone is required and you have agreed then I dont care whether no one gives a mobile as per usual practices. The understanding as per written agreement with Yamany tours was that the clients would be given a mobile phone and a sim. You failed to provide this when i arrived in Cairo despite repeated inquiries. It was only after i called my travel agent and complained about your Company and a repeated inquiry that you gave me a choice, either i could have a mobile or a sim or two sims, i chose the latter. And bytheway good tour companies for e.g Memphis tours do offer a mobile sim and phone for temporary use to their clients, and this is not unique to egypt the practice does exist in other countries as well among the better class of tour companies.

2. Beginning of the trip was on 23/1/2011 and tour program scheduled in 24/1/2011 by tour in Cairo for 2 days … first day for Pyramids area which had lasted a long time to take photo in several places [spent there long time more than big group] and the effect on the time your visit to the rest of area, in spite of the alert tourist guide accompanying you … Nevertheless, we promised you visit missing places when you return again to Cairo after your cruise trip [Luxor/Aswan]..

Ans. Let me correct you on this as well, you said that we could easily make all the travel sights starting at 9 in the morning, when the ideal time as informed by your guide later was at 7 or at most 8 in the morning to have an ideal tour. You should also mention that your guide insisted that we visit the perfume, jewellery and other shops (in order to earn her commission) despite my stating that we have no interest in them. Why was there no mention of time being wasted at that point ??. Your guide gave no indication that memphis would be closed when we visited and was highly surprised. Later on when we contacted you, you angrily exclaimed that it was actually our fault for taking "so many pictures". I think your Company's idea of time management is highly messed up or non existent, perhaps you should have called up to check how the guide was conducting the tour instead of accusing me and my wife later for missing an important site due to taking "too many pictures". You did not promise that we would complete the trip later you only hinted that you might be able to oblige if possible and only after a huge argument.

3. Your tour guide did not force you to visit something do not like it from shops and act on your request to place of a visit next, but the result of what has been described in the previous point you cannot catch up with deadline for the visit. We accept to complete the missing places as a gift from us not as mistake, but circumstances prevented that.

Ans. It is the guides job and yours might i add to make sure that the clients get to see all the sites mentioned on the travel schedule, not waste their time earning a commission by insisting on taking them to various odd tourist traps and accusing clients of taking "too many pictures" when things go bad.By the way since it was yout tour guides fault that we missed the schedule it is your obligation to provide recompense and not a gift to us.


4. Revolution in Egypt on 25/1/2011 .. There were many problems in communication, although we were in touch with you and the administrator of the implementation of your program .. And we managed to make changes as a result of conditions experienced by Egypt and followed your movements,

Ans. I Suppose the not providing clients with appropriate communication part, the not taking them to the solar boat inside, despite prior agreement part, the not providing them with a proper room on the nile cruise part, not informing us that the whole boat was geared towards germans including food and everything else part, and last of all not refunding the money of the clients all of these were caused by the revolution as well ?? I have a feeling they were actually caused by the a high degree of ineptness on the part of Yamany Tours for not having the decency to take proper care of their clients, after taking the money in advance.

5. Delay to reply to you as a result of irregular work due to the circumstances of the revolution and after we have received a report on your trip from our office in Upper Egypt ... We did calculations to your trip and our offer and we sent you on it ... Please note that the value of the whole booking and transportation were paid in advance, but we tried our best to collect the best value for the amount.. Have we promised you that we render this an appropriate way when you visit again to Egypt.

Ans. Correction you did not send me the offer, you sent my travel agent the offer on the condition that she provided you with another tour group to Egypt. Maybe the concept of ethics has eluded you but I think it is normal practice to pay back the money for services not used or not given especially when paid in advance. And bytheway the amount you offered was not meeting even half the amount that I again had given in advance and which was lost due to the events cancelled by the revolution. You took more that five months to calculate a proper amount to pay me back with and then offered a pitiful amount with the proviso that either I or another travel group arranged by my a travel agent would visit Egypt with your Company. Why on earth would i subject myself or anyone else for that matter to the same experience again ?

I think that there have been a very lucky twenty five years for your Company, or that your standards have really degraded. I predict that if you continue to operate in this way you wont have many customers for too long. As for the money keep it ( as you have no intention of paying me back anyway), I much rather spend my time in continuing to post reviews about your Company in every available medium so that the same horrible experience can be avoided in the future.
