YMT has refused to refund $500 I paid in 2020 to secure a place on a tour to Peru. I did not pay the final installment because COVID was shutting everything down in June/July 2020 and people were stuck in Peru and had to get government aid in returning to the states. I was told at the time that my $500 couldn't be refunded, but I could use it to book another trip in 2021. In February or March of 2021, I contacted the California office to explain that I was at high risk for COVID and that I was definitely not going to travel in 2021. I got no response. I called the Washington State office a couple of months ago and again asked for my $500 refund, as I really needed the money back. I was told no because I had not contacted the office prior to the 2021 date prior to travel to cancel. But I had. I suppose my only recourse now is a law suit. Anyone else encountered this bad business practice? (I went to Ireland with VMT tours and had a great time! That is why I booked the Peru trip through them. I would have gone had it not been for COVID. I really want my $500 back. I'm not planning any travel until after COVID is under some kind of control.
