They refuse to give me refund

I just got off the phone with them because they hung up on me when I asked to hear the audio for the sales person talking to me about what I thought I was buying. Is there anyone that can help me with getting a refund? I thought I was getting a $250 cash card and another card that would save me money at many of the store I shop at. I thought the magazines were just an added benefit. The first person I spoke with was Randy Baker who said she was a supervisor after I asked to speak to one. She played parts of some audio I remember saying because I was told exactly what to say beforehand I kept asking her to play the audio of me with the sales person to show what I thought I was buying but she kept giving me the run around. Eventually I told her I either wanted to speak with her supervisor or I wanted a full refund and she told me there was nothing she could do for me that she couldn’t do herself. So I again asked for a refund and was refused. Which lead me to adamantly request her supervisor get on the line. Her supervisor told me she was new and didn’t know how to play the recordings but she would get right on it. So I thanked her and an audio file played for about 5 seconds before it went blank. I waited for another couple minutes asking hello and hoping for a response and then the line was disconnected. Once I was cut off I looked up there company online and saw I couldn’t even find their website because of all the complaints and negative write ups that were online. I immediately called them back and told them I wanted to be refunded the money they took from me thus far because I do not do business with these types of companies. The women said I should have looked this up before I gave them my credit card information. I told her I was canceling my card and she told me she was going to ruin my credit and one way or another they were going to get paid. Can you please help me? My name is Jesse Boeglin Thank you!

Fraud

I hate this company. They are nothing but scam artists. I wish I would have read about them here before even getting involved with them. I asked how can I stop this whole subscription and he said that I can't. He said the only way I could get out is if I paid them 901.00. If there is anyone that can help me. Great American Readers

I have been scam into giving this company my credit card number for some books that I have not received. They want me to pay$49.90 a month and said that I now owe them over $900. I have not gotten a letter in the mail or no sort of info about the books or bill. Now they keeps calling me saying that if I don't pay them, then it will go to collection agency. I had my card canceled and my number blocked but I still get a voicemail from them. Help !!!! I want it stopped. They said that it is to late to cancel and that it can't be canceled... Nothing but a scam.

Being taken advantage of

I received a phone call from great American readers to receive five magazines of my choice for the cost of 49.90. Nothing was sent to me to make my selection of magazines the only info I received was a letter with the titles they chose for me and that I had 20 additional payments of 49.90 there is no way I would agree to such total amount they had my credit card info so I contacted MasterCard to let them know this was a scam and to close my account. When I called GAR to cancel this subscription they said it was too late and that I still owed this 998.00 amount if I did not pay this it would go to collection and it would effect my credit score. So I'm contacting the 3 credit score companies Experian Equifax & Transunion also the BBB of Minnesota about this fraud scam by Great American Readers.
To whom it may concern do not become a victim of this company.

Never Ordered Anything

I recently received a notice from a collection agency indicating I had not paid my bill for magazines ordered through American Readers Source. I have never ordered any magazines from this company! I was told if I did not take care of this bill it would go on my credit report. How can I clear something up I have no record of, no account number nothing.

Being Scamed

I want to cancel my Great America Readers subscription. A representative said that I have to pay $900 plus first before I can do that. How is this possible if I want to cancela magazine subscription. I am not going to pay them.
Other magazines that I cancel never ask for such fees.

What should I do?

We have recieved no magazines, and keep recieving phone calls.

My husband and I are both getting phone calls that go directly to voice-mail from GAR. We have called several time and asked them to stop and cancel everything. They said we would receive paperwork to cancel and we could do it only a week after with the paperwork. We never received the paperwork now we are being sent letters for us to pay them. Anytime we called them or they call us there are only two people that actually answer a man or a woman. This is a scam the latest letter is them saying we are being sent to a debt collector. We have no intention of paying them. we have received nothing as far a magazine. I keep returning there letters the ones my husband doesn't open by accident. We have canceled all debt and credit cards they have on file for us, so that we wont get charged.

FRAUD

If it will help anyone, please read these reviews prior to dealing with this company. I had signed up some time back and was told that I would be charged 39.99 for the magazine subscription. They told me the magazines would take 8-10 weeks to arrive. My account was charged soon after and it was now way past that amount of time and I never received anything. When I called, I spoke to someone who was extremely rude and wasn't trying to address the issue because he knew he was wrong. I told him, I was charged and received nothing, so I either need to be reimbursed or receive my magazines. He kept telling me that I can't because I cancelled the subscription since. However, my account was already charged the 39.99, so you're either going to give me what I paid for or give me my money back. He was rude as hell and unprofessional. I will be calling again in a week if my money is not refunded. Again, DON'T TRUST THESE PEOPLE!

Great American Readers

My sister had a massive stroke several years ago and a few months back she was contacted by this company and they say she agreed to several magazines. They have her paying $50 a month with no end in sight. She has a hard time speaking and is hard to understand. I do not believe she actually agreed to this. She is on a fixed income and cannot afford to continue paying but they tell her she is stuck and will not stop the magazines. She has been taken advantage of and I would like to know how to stop them.

Monthly Charges for magazines not ordered

I have been told that I have 30 months of $49.90/month. I am on disability and do not have that kind of money and cannot pay it. I never ordered any of them even though they said they had a recording of me ordering. I asked to hear it and was asked "why?" I wanted proof but of course never got it. How can I get them to go away and stop sending any magazines? The Publisher's Clearing House started it all I think and now I can't end it. Please help.

Great American Readers

I was contacted in January, 2014, by GAR and scammed 100%. I received the package from the detailing the information they needed in order to fill my preferences for magazines. Today is May 1, 2014 and I have received on ONE of the magazines I requested. I have tried to cancel this by calling the company as they are responsible for seeing that the magazines requested are those that are mailed to our address. I was contacted April 29 by a person who would not let me explain why the payment was turned back that was sent as a debit to my account, only told that I never intended to pay anyway, so I hung up. I have called this AM, 5/1/2014, to speak with a direct rep of GAR, spoke with a woman who told me they had no website and that she was not a direct rep, but could help me. When I began telling her what was happening and my frustration with GAR and the need to cancel this, she became as frustrated as I am and the conversation ended when I told her to go ahead and say what she had to say, she stated that she would not and that the conversation was being recorded. I really don't care.

This will not be paid by me any longer as I will put a stop payment on the draft from my account. This company is not a reputable company at all and needs to be shut down and put out of business. This is nothing more than a scam.
