Unfair sale cancellation fee

I recently posted and sold tickets on StubHub to the college national championship game in Tampa, FL. Upon entering my ticket section I entered section number and was not prompted for any clarification. I completed the posting successfully and my tickets sold. Within a few minutes aI received a cancellation notice of the sale due to incorrect posting. Not noticing anything else at the time I posted the tickets again and then was asked for section clarification when entering the ticket section number (this did not happen on the first posting). The tickets sold at the same price as previously posted without issue. The problem is a month later when I received my credit card statement I had a $796 StubHub charge. After contacting SH I was told a 40% sale cancellation fee had been applied to my account and ultimately charged to my credit card. The reason they gave was I had incorrectly posted the section of my tickets. When I asked why the SH system didn't prompt for any difference in section I was told I had entered them incorrectly and would be charged the fee based on the legal disclaimer they require every account holder to electronically agree to before buying or selling with them. I was told the fee was charged so SH could assist the initial buyer in obtaining equivalent tickets to the event. When I asked for proof of the assistance given to the initial buyer I was told that was not possible. If a company decides to have such an unscrupulous policy, you would think they would at least be required to contact the seller and provide proof of the need for such a large fee. This policy goes past even the amount of money loyal customers are being charged, it is a matter of unfair and immoral business practice SH is being allowed to carryout. If there is anyone already planning to take legal action against SH I would be glad to be part of the claim.

StubHub Unfair Fees

Sold a pair of sports tickets in November. Due to a website glitch, the StubHub site DUPLICATED the listing, making it appear I had TWO SETS of tickets for sale. I sold the set I had, shipped them, and was paid. A couple of days later, I got an email saying my "second set" had sold! Until that moment, I didn't even realize a duplicate listing had happened. I IMMEDIATELY called StubHub to resolve the issue ... and after weeks of calls and emails, they still insisted on slapping my account with an $80 fee for "cancelling the sale". Total crap service ... DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH StubHub EVER.

StubHub

I also had a similar bad experience as a seller. I listed tickets from TicketMaster and they sold before the PDF tickets were released. When I got the PDF and uploaded it said "obstructed view" on there (no mention anywhere else about it). The buyer refused the tickets and StubHub let them choose replacement tickets so of course they picked the $600 tickets then StubHub charged me 40% of the cost. So now I'm literally out more money than I was trying to sell the tickets for. I contacted their support and forwarded the emails from TicketMaster that say nothing about an obstructed view. They said they'd knock $60 off the fees. Incredible. I'm going to dispute the charges with the credit card company.

I would recommend you never selling tickets through StubHub.

unfair application of policy/fees

After I had unexpectedly received significantly improved seats (4) that impacted 5 listings I immediately contacted Stubhub. The events (college football games) in question were scheduled to take place 1 month to 2.5 months from the date of initial call. I contacted the buyers same day via the Stubhub portal, which did not have a means to convey how much improved the new seat locations were.

All sales were cancelled within 24 hours and I was charged with a 20% replacement fee to the total of approximately $1400. After repeated calls to StubHub to their customer service, whereby I had to always state my case re: seemingly unfair application of their policy. I always was told "can't reverse" charges, "there is nothing I can do". After reaching someone at a "higher level", I was able to have 2 of the 9 fees reversed, for ~$300, or a 20% reduction of the total amount.

I informed StubHub I planned to re-list the tickets in question in a good faith effort to continue to partner with them given that I had believe their business what beneficial for buyers/sellers alike, and hoped they would reconsider their charges going forward.

12 of 20 tickets sold within a week of re-listing, 16 of 20 tickets sold within 1 month of listing. I called back, stating my feelings that the initial charges seemed unfair given multiple variables, including their portal to communicate to seller as I was unable to clearly share information with the buyer re: the change in seat location. I was told "the decision has been made. It's final. There's nothing I can do." I asked that a written letter be drafted from StubHub to my attention stating their rationale, but this was refused. I asked as to how I could share feedback as a customer/seller to someone in the managerial level, any person with a first and last name (I was never able to get a full name from anyone in my dealings with StubHub via email or phone contacts) -- I was told to use to online customer service portal (which seemed to be of low yield so I decided to publish this account).

Regardless, StubHub refused to consider revisiting the remaining fees, even though two "supervisors" felt that their company's stance seem unfair from their perspective.

Unfairly charged penalty

Beware of Stubhub! I was another loyal Stubhub seller of Eagle's season tickets for years and now have a debt collector going after me for $99. The reason? Stubhub uploaded two sets of the same game and then sold both. I explained this to the customer rep at the time and he seemed quite understanding but said he couldn't do anything until the $99 charge hit my account. That took many months and now I am disputing the charge with a debt collector. Does Stubhub realize they will lose many times the $99 in fees because I am now using a competitor instead? Not too smart on their part to alienate your loyal suppliers of easy to sell tickets

BS Charges

I sold 4 tickets on StubHub and the buyer ended up cancelling the order and StubHub charged me a $144 fee.
The reason giving for the cancellation was the tickets were not the ones advertised.
Prior to posting the tickets for sale I called StubHub and spoke to an agent in order to determine the correct way to post my tickets.
I had 4 tickets which were all consecutive seats but one of the tickets had a different section number than the other three.
This was do to the layout of the venue(L.A. coliseum) two different section blend together but all the seats are together, there is nothing separating the 4 seats. When I spoke to the agent I told them about the different sections and asked them how to post the tickets since the website did not allow you to list multiple sections on one listing. I did not want to post 2 different listings because it would appear as one of the tickets was not with the other three and no one would want to buy just one ticket.
The agent instructed me to list them all together and check a box in the comment section which states " Tickets may have different numbers and non-consecutive seat numbers, but seats will be consecutive".
I listed them as the StubHub agent instructed but the buyer rejected them because he thought they were not all together which is false.
I disputed the charge with StubHub but was still charged. I pulled all my other season tickets off the site and would advise anyone else not to use this site because they will not take accountability for there mistakes and untrained agents.

Blame me for fraud. They could have prevented.

Had a problem with a password being hacked. First problem I had was my Netflix account had me locked out and my email had been changed. Called Netflix they fixed it.
Realizing a problem...I it everywhere I could remember having a account changing passwords everywhere. Hours trying to be sure I had not forgot anything important.

Three weeks later stubhub emails me a confirmation. I didn't even remember using or having a account. (Seems in 2009 I used it and had linked PayPal to it...dumb yes. It was 2009 tho. Most reputable vendors websites let the token expire way before that! I had not logged in since 2009!) since I work in my email a lot I received the email as soon as it happened.
Over thousand dollars for tickets ordered in a state 2000 miles from me. I tried to log in with he user name and password that I knew had been hacked and it worked. Crap! I did have a stubhub account. While logging in I was calling them. Within minutes of it happening I contacted them. I say get loss prevention quick! They say..we will message them and get back with you in three days. I said seriously? I called them again after the police and bank and PayPal and again...get back with you in a few days. Eventually they emailed me blaming me stating they "think" it is someone I know. Perhaps a friend or family member and that I should find out who it is and work it out with them. They never spoke to me about it...only the girls who answer the phone!!! It is been the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. Not to mention negligent condescending and insulting!!
Indeed a shady organization. Scary shady.

Exhorbitant Seller Penalties

Similar to a previous poster sing accidentally listed Adele tickets for the wrong venue and upon realising my mistake tried to cancel my listings(within 5 minutes) and even called them. However, I couldn't get through to them(recording told me to call back as all line were busy). During this time 6 tickets sold and again I reported immediately on line and over the phone about this simply mistake.

Then 3 days later I get an email from Stubhub indicating I was being penalized $3900US for not fulfilling the orders and my credit card charged accordingly. I couldnt believe it and tried for a resolution but was told by Stubhub the decision was final and I'm outta luck. My credit card company even told me they can't control what a vendor charges my card.

So, they are ruthless jerks when it comes down to it. A simple mistake I tried to correct immediately and Im out $3900US. It just isn't reasonable or fair. When I calculated the cost of replacing the tickets it came out to $1200US per ticket given the buyer had paid $500 each on my incorrect listings. I'm sure Stunhub collected on all their fees on these transactions. Its amazing what thy can get away with.

AVOID STUBHUB - THEY RIP OFF SELLERS!!!

I purchased Adele tickets and unfortunately in the hype of rushing to buy the tickets on AXS I did not see that I was only allowed to purchase 4 tickets in total and presumed this was 4 tickets on each concert date. I sold 8 tickets on Stubhub and sold them within a day, but AXS contacted me shortly afterwards and said that because I purchased more than the permitted tickets that they had been cancelled and refunded. As soon as I received the e-mail from AXS I contacted Stubhub immediately to advise them of my mistake. The next day Stubhub sent and email to say that they had replaced 4 of the tickets at a costs of £2150 and took the difference of £950 out of my account. I called them about the other 4 and was basically told that they can charge me whatever amount they like to replace the tickets, and I asked if there was a limit to my liability and they said no. The current selling price of these tickets are now nearly £1000 each and there are 4 more tickets to replace so in total I could lose around £3000 for this mistake! No help from Stubhub whatsoever just showed empathy on the phone which means nothing!!!!

Check out their terms and conditions and basically you are SCREWED... no limit on your liability to the cost of replacement tickets!!! How can that be?

OVER PRICED

Will never use StubHub again. Purchased tickets for a show and wanted to cancel an hour later when i saw that they were WAY over priced with all the fees added.
Called Stubhub with no luck... sorry sir you can not cancel.

Transaction didn't even go through with my credit card company yet but still could not cancel for a show thats one week away.
Try showing the real value of the ticket being sold instead of just showing the asking price.

Keep your Bs apology!

Unfair Trade Practice

I purchased 3 tickets to the Edmonton Eskimos game in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, tomorrow, July 31, 2015. In confirming my purchase I noted a Service Fee of $21.60 per ticket. I was surprised by the fee but agreed to pay it. The total order came to $312.30.

I was shocked to learn that this transaction ran through another organization in the United States, and not VIP Tickets "Canada".

These $240 Canadian worth of tickets have now escalated to $$415.21 Canadian through an exchange rate and additional fees.

As I was dealing with a Canadian company for a local Canadian Football game I did not have any reason to suspect there would be any additional costs beyond what I had agreed to. I feel that this misdirection can be identified as an unfair trade practice and is quite concerning.

I am cancelling Order Number 18147488 forthwith and am asking that you provide me provide me with full and complete refund in the amount of $415.21 Canadian.

I trust you are willing to accommodate me given the nature of the situation. It would be unfortunate if this matter needed to be escalated.

Thank you for your prompt attention, I look forward to hearing back from you.

Time is of the essence.

Markup

Stub Hub is way out of line in the fees they charge. They start out upping the price of the ticket by a floating percentage. I found the markup on $200 to be 18.75% then when the tickets are sold a 10% service charge is added. Here's the result of tickets I was going to list. $200 ticket value then lists for $237.50 and when it sells they send me $180. That means out of the $237.50 selling price they make $57.50 which works out to 24% (of $237.50). They can say they separate the fees into buyer/seller but in the end it's the seller who foots the entire fee. That's because there is a limit as to what people pay so added fees force sellers to lower the price to be able to make a sale. This means for me to get back the face value of a $200 ticket the listing has to show as $263 (not very attractive to buyers). These kind of fees make selling a losing proposition unless it's a ticket that's so high demand you can charge a ridiculous price. Even if or when that occurs because of the exorbitant fees what's left for the seller is diminished significantly. Total fees of 10% is fair for all parties 15% is excessive but Stub Hubs 24% is outrageous

Increase in ticket price

When checking the listing of my tickets for sale for San Diego -Oakland football game in San Diego, I found the sale price per ticket went up overnight in excess of $10 per ticket. When I called StubHub I was informed that StubHub raised its fees because the game changed popularity. This increase may make it more difficult for me to sell my tickets and I may have to lower my price to make the tickets more attractive to the buyer.
In my opinion StubHub is unscrupulous, unethical, greedy, and has no consideration for the seller or buyer.

Printer printed the same ticket twice

I bought 2 tickets plus a parking ticket to the upcoming Atlanta Braves/ Wash. Nationals game on Aug 8, 2014. My printer printed out the same ticket twice and I thought I had been scammed somehow.
I called customer service and they resolved this issue satisfactorily for me.
I guess my printer malfunctioned but they sent the parking pass and 2 tickets to me again.
The Stubhub rep's number is 4083167.
She did very good and waited on the phone until the email got to me and I checked it.
Thanks, Robert

Stubhub tickets arrived after the show

We purchased Rob Thomas tickets which was in Atlanta 4/23/14, THREE months ago. We were promised that tickets will arrive before the concert. We spoke to a representative on Monday 4/21/14 & she said since tickets has yet to arrive to NC, she would have them delivered to our hotel in Atlanta, GA no later than the morning of the concert date which was set for Wednesday 4/23/14. We drove to Atlanta on Tuesday to make sure that we would receive the tickets in the event that they got there a day early.
We paid for hotel rooms for Tuesday night and Wednesday night. This was a rare occasion, one in which we both have not had in 20 yrs. It was a celebration hence we took off work and spent hotel fees and $600 on the tickets.
NO TICKETS ON THE DAY OF THE CONCERT!!!

On Monday, 4/21/14, the conversation with the rep insuring that we would get our tickets was recorded, the supervisor listened to it & after a lengthy discussion, she agreed to refund our $ but have no clue or the sensitivity that a special event was ruined and lots of $ was spent for this occasion. Money loss due to 3 days off work, hotel and gas ($300). But most of all, the event in which we both were looking forward to seeing which was 7 hrs away from home DID NOT HAPPEN!

We chose the Atlanta venue because of the good seats (expensive) that we were able to buy vs. the venue in Raleigh, NC.

Rob Thomas show in Raleigh, NC on May 1st, 2014. Stubhub could & should provide us with tickets for this venue since it's only an hour and 30 min. from where we live.

There are still time and opportunity for Stubhub to illustrate to this forum that they are honest and genuine in their business practice. We still would like to see Rob Thomas and there are still time for StubHub to give us tickets for the disappointment and money spent in Atlanta.

We hope to hear a positive outcome from Stubhub.

Stubhub nightmare - invalid tix beware!

For a company such as stubhub which boasts "It's simple: We back every order so you can buy and sell tickets with 100% confidence" this could not be further from the truth from what I found out one fateful evening.
I purchased 4 tickets for a band in concert that I had been looking forward to seeing for years. When we arrived at Barclays center just before showtime we were denied entry only to be told the tickets were already scanned to someone else. How can this happen? They were apparently sold twice. I called Stubhub customer service and after being put on hold several times, 20 minutes later the supervisor said if we purchased new tickets we would be "refunded and credited for the new tickets" since they (Stubhub) did not have any others to sell. At that point the box office at Barclays Center said they didn't have any extra tickets to sell. They had to get their manager who somehow miraculously saved the day and found 4 extra tickets they were holding to sell. The manager at Barclays Center also said "this happens every night" and "not to buy from Stubhub". Also the people next to us on line were having the same problem.
After missing a third of the concert I had been looking forward to seeing and getting worse seats than we had originally purchased, I pursued my refund through Stubhub. It turns out they were only willing to refund me the original ticket price I paid, but offered only a credit through Stubhub for the new tickets I had to buy that evening. When they said "credit" to my account over the phone I assumed they meant to my credit card, not to some stubhub account. I spoke with another supervisor today who said under their policy they are not even obligated to offer a credit to my account and I was denied a refund to my credit card. They also claim this is extremely rare. Well, the manager of Barclays Center disagreed with that statement and we observed this for ourselves with another couple standing next to us experiencing the same frustration. If Stubhub had decent customer service and satisfaction guarantee, they would have issued a full refund to my credit card for all of the expenses AND offered something additional for the stress it caused and to make me want to come back. Buyers beware of Stubhub, everyone should know they are at risk of buying invalid seats and not having it resolved properly.

Stub Hub Cancels My Tickets

To Whom It May Concern,

Once again another terrible experience with Stub Hub!

On August 19, 2012, I ordered college football tickets from StubHub. The price for the tickets were extremely inexpensive. After purchasing the tickets, I took it upon myself to call StubHub to verify the authenticity/validity of the tickets the same night I purchased them. I spoke to a customer care specialist named "Hope". I explained my concerns to "Hope" who assured me the tickets were perfectly fine, and that she researched the seller, and confirmed that this seller sells alot of tickets on StubHub and it's quite frequent that they sell tickets well below face value. Once again "Hope" assured me that if there was a problem with the purchase of these tickets, StubHub would purchase replacement tickets at no additional cost to me, no matter what the tickets would cost, and they would be in a comparable seating area at the stadium.

On Sunday, August 26, 2012, I received a telephone call from a StubHub customer care specialist "Matt" who told me they were cancelling my recently purchased tickets, and would be refunding me my money. "Matt" went on to say that the seller accidentally priced the tickets at the wrong price, and that since there was such a large different in price from what I paid, compared to what the prices of tickets selling the the general area where I purchased the tickets, they could not replace them they would only refund me my money! I explained to "Matt" that I had already giving four of the tickets to friends, who reserved hotel rooms, and airline flights, and that if there was something that could be done at least for the four tickets that people had already made travel arrangements, "Matt" said No!

I then spoke to "Matt's" supervisor, who was "Scott". Scott basically said the same exact routine that was previously told to me by "Matt". It's quite obvious the Fan Fair Guarantee that StubHub promotes, only works for their "High Selling Customers, Who Spend Big Bucks With StubHub". I then asked "Scott" for his supervisor's name and he told me he was not allowed to reveal that information to me. I then asked "Scott" for the contact information for the administrative / corporate offices, and he told me he doesn't have that information.

So now I have four friends, who have purchased non-refundable airline tickets, and reserved hotel rooms at the Hard Rock Hotel in Fort Lauderdale for a weekend of college football, that just got cancelled.

StubHub has not done one thing to try to resolve this matter, or help recouping the expenses that have been spent after StubHub's employees assured me that the tickets were good, and that the Fan Fair guarantee would be in place to replace these tickets if something was to go wrong!

I would respectfully request replacement tickets located within the same seating area as the tickets I purchased or better. Your guarantee states that StubHub will purchased and replace the tickets no matter what the price difference is!

Stub Hub Cancels My Tickets

Purchased College footbal tickets at a extremely low price. The night I purchased them, I personally called Stub Hub to verify that this was the actual price and was correct.

The Stub Hub employee told me that YES indeed these tickets were sold at this reduced price, and everything is fine.

One week later, after receiving the tickets, and having guest make hotel & travel arrangements, Stub Hub calls me, and tells me, the seller priced them wrong, and that Stub Hub was cancelling the tickets I received.

Stub Hub also stated, that their Fan insurance program could help me, because the tickets were purchased so much cheaper than they could buy me replacement tickets for.

Stub Hub You SUCK!

Exorbitant charges to seller

I purchased four tickets for a concert and wound up using two and selling the other two on Stubhub. I inadvertently printed off the wrong tickets when I went to the show- I printed the tickets that I had sold. When all of us showed up at the venue for the same seats, the venue said they were going to accommodate the couple who bought my tickets. The show wasn't sold out and there were good seats available. A couple of days later stubhub contacted me to say the buyers were denied admission to the show. I wound up being charged back for the price of the tickets plus $150 for "compensation". Compensation to who? I am disputing the charges. Thir customer service rep treated me like a criminal. I'll never do with this company again- not buying through them and definitly not selling throughthem. Don't they realize that sellers are customers too? When they run off all their sellers because of their rip- off practices there won't be anything to buy.

Honest loyal seller screwed by Stubhub

Stubhub does not care about their sellers or how long they have been selling. I have probably sold over 1000 tickets on stubhub, and still get screwed for something that is not my fault.
Stubhub handled the situation INCORRECTLY when customers complained their tickets were invalid and bought them new tickets right away, I was not contacted, the tickets were not event tried to be scanned at the venue!!!

It is unbelievable, I have tried multiple times to talk to someone on the phone and nobody will ever reach out to me.
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

I will be taking my business elsewhere to sell my tickets because obviously stubhub does not care about their longtime loyal sellers and they will screw them over out of $600 when I make them that much in profits every month....

And don't respond to this asking me to email you more info about my case because I already have and never receive any phone call or anything so I can try to explain the situation.

It is order number 50216776 If you would like to look it up and reach out to me via telephone that would be very surprising.

TRY TO AVOID USING STUBHUB. THERE ARE PLENTY OF OTHER GREAT SITES OUT THERE THAT CAN HELP YOU SELL TICKETS
