Accused plagerism

I was accused of plagerism 5 months after I graduated. I received my diploma and transcript. 5 months later they accused me of plagerism, told me they would call to discuss, never got a call and now they have changed my grade on my transcript to an F. Has anyone else had this problem?

Online Classes & Worthless Degree

I told online classes from Ashford Univresity for 2 years with the intend to gain my B.A. degree in English to teach high school English. I was lead to believe I would step into the world after graduation and gain a job right away. My many different couselors also signed me up for classes that I really did not need putting my faith in them. They also tried to push me into gaining my Masters which I did not. Now I am left with a huge financial bill of over $10,000.00 and only can find a job in a school working part-time not even doing what I went to school for and cannot pay my student loan bill. They should be made to pay all the students back that were lead to believe this was a good idea.

Worthless Degree and Financial fraud

I started with Ashford in 2009working on my BA in Social Svcience, this was supposed to be the best degree for me to go into teaching English lit. What a joke after finishing my BA I started their Masters program up to this point I was niavely happy, in the middle of the third class I was accused of plagerism by my instructor three different times needless to say she failed me when I went to take the course again I requested that they put me in a different class because apparently there was a problem with this instructor. They put me back in her class and I was failed again and dropped from the program, I of course ad no clue at the time it I quickly learned when I tried to get into a Master's program else where that my degree was glorified toilet paper in a frame and in order to get a Master's degree I would have to start over, 90k later I have still not started my Masters degree and now I can not find a job with my useless degree. I would love to sue

I got tricked into debt

I started at Ashford and told my Admissions Counselor that I had to drop in week 2. He called me day and night telling me "post" "post anything, even just "hi." so I would be counted as attended. I said I wanted to drop and he got all over me about me going into debt and not getting some chump change stipend. I posted a word on the discussion thread and next thing Ii know I am on the hook for the cost of the whole class. This is BS!
I saw one of their former executives is suing them for making shit up about their financials. What a scam of a school!

Ashford University

I attended Ashford University in 2010-2012 majoring in Criminal Justice when I decided to ask for a week off for medical reasons. In 2012, i spoke with the upper staff to discuss time of as well as a plan to keep my classes active and on track. I was in the 3rd week of the class when I was pulled and was told that I could retake the class upon return and that all else was in order. They told me to take the week off and feel better and they would have my next class set up for me and ready upon my return. I had financial aid, so my classes were covered and i'd discussed with my case manager that upon my return, would my classes be covered? She assured me that it would.

When I returned, i completed my 5 week class, and was getting ready for the next class when I was pulled and locked out of the back office. It stated that I owed roughly $2300 for the 5 week class that I had just completed. So, I contacted my case manager to ask her what was going on, she explained that she forgot to tell me that I would have to pay out of pocket for the last class completed before I could move on and I had 2 weeks before it would go into collections. I said to her "why wasn't this information expressed to me before I took the week off?", she replied I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but we will need a payment upfront in order for you to continue! I was livid and felt bamboozled, so I contacted the board of ed where I was told I'd recieve a call back, 2/3 days later I received that call from a young man who obviously had a bad day, and wasn't of any assistance at all.

The end result is that they sent this charge to collections, they have my credits on hold, and have charged me over $20,000 in student loan debt with no way to move forward. No good paying job in sight, a mountain of debt, and many lies from the day they talked me into taking courses at this college.. then sucking me dry then kicking me to the curb over a error on their behalf. I feel so angry that I ever attended this school, and pray that a class action suit is brought against them so that they may repay my loans for the crappy deal the sold me then betrayed my trust. If there is a petition out there, please post it so that I may sign it!.

Ashford The Ripoff University

I am a former student of Ashford University. I started there in 2011 for my teaching degree. Everything was going great until something happen with my financial aid (which I am still confused about to this day). I was never told that I was out of financial aid and was on cash pay. I ended up taking 6 more classes under the assumption that I was still getting financial aid. Because of this, I ended up with a $6,000 bill that went to their 3rd party collector. They tacked on another $3,000 in fees and the final bill was over $9,000 which they wanted asap. I was unable to pay this so they withheld all 55 credits that I had completed towards my 120 credits I needed to graduate. The biggest problem I have with this is that in their own literature under the "Cash Pay" section, it talks about how students are not allowed to take another class until their prior balance is paid in full. So why did they keep signing me up for classes if they new my loans ran out and I was now a cash pay student? I have already put in many formal complaints with this ripoff of a school with no resolution!! It is 2016 now!!! Since then, I have had to start over with my schooling through a different school and have two more years until I graduate (should of graduated in 2014). Now instead of having $40,000 in student debt, I will have about $70,000 to pay back after I finish my schooling!! I am so disappointed!!

Ashford University

I believe this school is all fraud. I am very upset that I was misinformed on my education and it was a waste of time and money. I am now hit with $27000 in student loans as well as $2000+ sent to collections. I was on a "payment plan" with the school to at least pay my balance but they decided to stop my payments and send it to collections. I am slowly being drained because of this school and I'm not only very upset, but extremely stressed. Does anyone know of something that will help?!

Ashford says I owe them 11,000

I attended Ashford online in 2013-14. Now Ashford says I owe THEM 11,000. I had student loans and grants to pay for my education, I don't believe I actually owe them that much. How can I find out exactly what I owe them for vs. what my student loans paid for?

Ashford and faulty financial procedures

I am a former student of Ashford that is stuck with $27,000 in student loans and $2400.00 to Ashford. Everything was going good until family illnesses pulled me from school. So i attempted to follow the rules and regulation for their drop procedures including notes from Physicians stating to the fact. But only to be informed the time in which it took for the dr to complete the form was to timely to be processed so I was denied the drop which accounts for the first $1200.00. And yes this dumby still returned because I wanted my degree. That was until december and my wonderful laptop decided to die, and again I contacted the instrutor and advisors to inform them of my need to drop my class no avail other than the instructor confirming my in ability to complete the course work. So now I am sinking in debt with no degree and way to complete because until I pay Ashfird they will not release my grades.

Ashford University did not help me get a job.

I have recently graduated from Ashford University January 20th 2014. I have my degree in Early Childhood Development. I have applied to numerous of jobs, but was not able to get it from not having accreditation. I was refused many postion, because of the the lack of the college being known alone with the suspicion of it not be a real college. Plus, in order to work with young children I would need more certification to even work in a child care environment. I feel for all the money I was charge was not worth it. I am in majority debt, but can't even get a decent job to even pay off anything.

Ashford University

Type of Case:
Consumer Class Action
.

We are lead counsel in a consumer class action case on behalf of current and former students of Ashford University, which is owned and operated by Bridgepoint. The case seeks to represent students who attended Ashford University at any time between March 1, 2005 and the present. A copy of the complaint and the Court's order denying defendants' motion to dismiss is attached below.
By Order dated March 26, 2015, the Court denied Plaintiffs' motion for class certification. This means that the Court denied our request to seek redress on behalf of all Ashford University students and held that only the named Plaintiff's claims could be litigated in the lawsuit. We filed a request with the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals to appeal that decision, which request was denied. We have not yet determined whether to appeal the order denying class certification after the conclusion of the case.
As a result, if you were an Ashford University student during the relevant time period (March 1, 2005 to the present), we do not represent you in the case and you should retain your own lawyer and file an individual claim if you want to pursue a claim against Ashford University and/or its parent company, Bridgepoint Education.

if anyone wants to go after this school, please contact your own lawyer because this wasn't enough for to become a class action lawsuite, but if we can find a lawyer that is willing to go after this school by itself will be better, lets start some noise about this, facebook, twitter, cnn, tvs news, newspaper, this school needs to go down

Ashford University Fraud

I have been an Ashford student for over a year. Everything was going fine until my account was suddenly put on hold. I called and they say that I owe them $1680 for class because they enrolled me after my financial aid ran out. I was never informed of this by phone, email or mail. When I called they said I owed them the money after they enrolled me in a class after my financial aid was exhausted. I told them that they should have informed me of this before the class and that I did not authorize them to do that. They said that there was nothing that they could do and that I owed them the money. I can't transfer or get away from them because they will not release my transcripts. This school is a racket and just takes money from people that cannot afford it. I have no money to pay them and am stuck. I told them at the beginning that I had no money to pay out of pocket and if my financial aid ever ran out, I would have to wait until I had more to continue. They said that would be no problem. They have lied to me and others and they need to be stopped. How do we start a class action suit against them so they cannot do this to anyone else?

Financial Aid

In 2012 I enrolled at Ashford. I took one class, Psych 2. When I realized they expected me to re-take all my previous classes, I withdrew. That was within two weeks after my 2nd class started. They received my financial aid which totaled around 15,000. They say I owe an additional $500 and have placed that amount as a collection on my credit report. For six months after dropping out, I called, emailed and left messages requesting information. None of my calls were returned.

I recently found copies of the numerous emailed requests for information. I am interested in filing a class action lawsuit and I am currently researching to see what other steps can be taken.

Does anyone have any information on what steps can be taken to get this resolved. I am so disgusted at this point, I am ready to consult an attorney. Any help/suggestions would definitely be appreciated.

Thanks

collections ...

My name is Katina I have been informed that Ashford University had a debt in the amount of $1,116 in my name. Please advise how this is possible as I did not attend the university. I did request information regarding enrollment but did not pursue it. I contacted them asking for info on classes for moms to go back to school and about full covered grants. I was told to check out the portal for 2wk (no charge ) I did and cancelled after 12 days. I called the number and left 2 messages. Thinking I have ADHD I just couldn't understand the ways on online classes. This all happened back in August & Sept of 2009. I never followed up after that because I went and moved out October 2009 divorced. I know the sales person had to signed me up only to get the commission.

Ashford Univerity's Financial Aid Fraud

I would like nothing better than to be a part of that class action law suit. Like 95% of the other complaints Ashford University also charged me various non-refundable fees, charged and re-charged me multiple times for the same classes and when I completed my masters degree they told me that I owe for my final class.

My student advisor tried to get me to submit a request of absence when I alerted him to the fact that they drop me from a class, even though he admitted in an email that the fault was definitely made at Ashford. Then they promptly retaliated by withholding my financial aid and refuse to return my inquiries.

One great thing I did was to screenshot every single page of my accounts information and every other piece of date they have on the student portal. Let them try to change anything now because screenshots do not lie and when authorities check my computer's port data they will see the truth.

Ashford Financial aide fraud

After attending Ashford for my bachelors in business administration, I am three years in, one year away from receiving my degree and I am being told that I have ran out of financial aide money! When I was being recruited by the enrollment person they assured me that my financial aide would cover the entire cost of my program because I was leery in joining them because of the cost. So now I have a debt of $55,000 and nothing to show for it! This college is playing with peoples lively-hoods and future! How are they constantly able to get away with this? I have a 3.52 G.P.A so I have worked hard, I feel that this is just utterly despicable that I am basically just stuck! One more year left is all I have, all my hard work gone down the drain because of their false representation and scamming ways? If anyone has any suggestions on who I should tell my full story too, or how to join the class action law suit please email me [email protected]

Ashford University Worthless Degree(s)?

Is there a class action lawsuit for fraud against Ashford University? I'm halfway through the MBA program at Ashford. I've recently discovered that my degree(s) obtained from Ashford will not be recognized by employers? If you are charged for something that is not what you were told it would be or the purchased product does not do what it was purchased to do, the transaction gets cancelled and a refund of any money charged issued immediately. Why is this not true for college educations?

I carry a current 3.8+ GPA. I have worked very hard for my associate, bachelor's and now master's degrees in business and I've been a consistent honors student. I can't describe how I feel when I realize my MBA will not be taken seriously by prospective employees. Also, my for-profit university told me many lies when becoming a student, such as Ashford having the lowest cost college classes, to find out later the absolute inaccuracy level of everything they said they were makes me feel ill. The 98% job placement rates do not exist for Ashford U. and student graduation rates are so low, when they said otherwise UNTIL they get you on their books as a student and before you find out what a scam they are, but you don't want to quit because then all is wasted so far to not get a graduate degree. I was also charged a technology fee of $999 back in late 2008. Why do they have to charge so much for online classes? The cost are much more than the community colleges (discovered this 3+ years into my student loans) and the for profit online schools charge much more per credit. Why is this so? They don't have to maintain campus grounds or dormitories or anything other than the online classrooms and instructor salaries. Are they truly in it only to collect the financial aid funding? What do I do if my for profit college MBA degree is going to be useless and I will not be able to get a position worthy of my MBA to make enough to pay the student loan debt that is so much higher than it truly should be.

Just like when I make a bad purchase, I should be able to return my college grad. education for a refund. I truly want to 'return' my degrees to the school and receive a refund for my student loans because my for profit college MBA degree (also 2 undergrad. degrees) will be worthless to me in finding the level of employment and salary an MBA is 'supposed' to make possible for me. Legal advice and/or direction would be appreciated. Please advise.

Thank you. T. ~ MBA in OhiO

unfair evaluation of credit acceptance

After inquiring about returning to finish my degree last week and was made aware that they no longer have that BA in Social Science with a Concentration in Education program for students who want to be teachers anymore, and that I would have to pursue either a different education program or a liberal arts degree. I was ok with that , but then they said that they would not want to accept more than 80 of my 152 credits. 36 of which I completed at Ashford online. They want me to redo general ed classes in a new education program; even though I was basically an A student. When I entered Ashford they admitted me with 80 transfer credits. Now they want to act like I am a new student just because they don’t offer that program anymore? Or is it because they want to make another 2 years of money off of me… out of these credits all I want recognized is the original 80 they accepted in 2010 when I was enrolled, and the work (36 credits) that I did in Ashford that applies to the education program. Especially the general ed classes. I see no respectful reason to have to do them again.

I told them I just do not see how that is fair, I spent many hours of study and research writing those papers, that was time that I could have spent somewhere else (earning either valuable credits or money) instead I am still paying the tuition with compounded interest on what I call nothing but (virtual credits) if they can’t be used toward a degree. What good is marking it on paper if they do not honor it? It’s just not right! Please let me know if you can help. I know you are out of state. Maybe you can refer me to someone or somewhere that I can make a complaint? I would appreciate it.

Sincerely, Melinda McDonald
