Tech entered home with no adult present!!!!

My teenaged daughter was home (under 18) with her younger sister-
I scheduled a 4-8pm appointment so I would be there when the service tech arrived...
He showed up at 1:30, my daughter told him- my mother isn't here yet-
He said that's ok, and let himself in to fix the tv. I was LIVID when my daughter told me he got there, entered, fixed the tv and left.
Thankfully he fixed the tv only, and left immediately, my girls are fine- but I am furious that a tech would enter a home with minors. They are "trained" or so they say, to know never to enter a home with an adult not around.
Getting any resolution to this is proving very difficult!! Has anyone else had this issue? And what sorts of things did they do to "fix" their error with you? (Not that it can be fixed- but to make whatever amends they can muster after pissing off the mom)....

Adult Sex Toy Infomercials

FYI since my complaint to Direct TV the Head of the Consumer Advocate Dept has called 3 times. Apparently, parental controls were not functioning in the area where our vacation home is and where we have Direct TV. They were very apologetic and offered refund, free service. . According to Direct TV, all my parental controls were properly set up by us. This I was told was a Direct TV system failure.

My 8 yr old kid was traumatized by the 2 young women holding up the glass blown dildo explaining in detail all the ways you can use it. She is freaked out so why wouldn't I take her to a therapist in order to help discuss something she is upset over seeing and having a hard time talking about? This is my one kid that still doesn't want to know the details regarding reproduction and sex. I want my kids to grow up feeling good about their bodies and their sexuality. Each child needs information at different times, emotionally, intellectually, physically they are all different. Each child deserves his/her development to be respected. Direct TV had no right to allow exposure of this nature when parental controls had been set up. Comcast controls prevent the sex infomercials from available viewing. Comcast controls also prevent ordering porn without a code entry. I have no problem with sex, sex toys, porn. Whatever a couple decide is good for them is good for them. But what is good for a adult does not mean it is good for an 8 year old child. Would you please get off your "bible beater, attender of church filled with mentally disturbed brain washed idiots" I am Jewish but have never been to temple (the equivalent of church). One of my kids has goes to a Christian Church, I believe each person should decide on their own what faith, church, or spiritual life they desire. It isn't a parents role to choose what church a child will attend. I also do not believe that "faith" is something that you can impart to anyone else. You either believe and have faith or you don't. it is an individual journey that each decides on his/her own. But I don't go to church, temple or any religious place so just get off that one. I never said anything about the morality of sex toys or language used to describe them. Neither did I make any moral judgement about pornography. I think whatever 2 consenting adults want to do together is great... wonderful...one of the great things about being an adult... great fun amazing sex that hopefully, just keeps getting better. The more toys or whatever that helps keep the fire burning strong the better.
My issue: I set up parental controls on Direct TV just like I did on Comcast. The controls worked on Comcast but failed on Direct TV. The result of Direct TVs system failure caused trauma to my child she now associates a penis with the glass blown dildo and is afraid of growing up and getting married because she thinks she will have to do those "things" they talked about on the TV. This is the end of the story and my comments on this subject... Direct TV is responsible. They advertised parental controls yet failed to maintain their systems. . . Do you get it yet?????? Chad, please don't actually respond. I hope you get it. If not then you don't have the mental capacity to do so, I am finished have much more important thinks to do with my time.

Adult Sex Toy Infomercials

And back to he original point. Not a direct tv problem. And yes "regular" everyday stations like usa network and spike tv have adult infommercials. Sex sells. And nothing is morally wrong with toys and the language they use or even stuff to help lovelives in all mariages. You want to complain, then complain, again, to the networks themselves. They control all programming. Go to your church and get all the mentally disturbed brain washed idiots to complain as well. They might change it. But dtv has no claim to this at all... this is not their responsibility.

You're going to a child councelor? Seriously? Hey don't get me wrong, Direct TV has zero ethics, they lie, they completly suck, ...they are a monster. But you are so out of touch with the real world that you are making a problem out of something that you should have been able to handle and turning it into a serious problem that will have your child messed up for years. Your child doesn't need counciling, but you obviously do.

Pull yourself up by your boot straps and deal with it

OMG ia signed up with Direct TV and have had nothing but problems and I have only had it 7 days. I tried to call on 5 different occasions only to be hung up on by their customer service people. I just sent several email out and have called the people who sold me this from Sam's club. What a rotten terrible company. I have never in my life been hung up on by a company because they did not have the answers. Now I am afraid I will end up having to pay the entire fee. I told them take me to court go ahead. Here is South Dakota we don't treat people like that. I agreed to pay for a service I did not get my service so I should not have to pay. This company needs to fire half the customer service staff and start over. Direct TV has been the worst experience of my life. I would rather pay more and get great customer service then to pay somone to treat me like shit like Direct TV does. If they ever come up to you and tell you they have a great deal for you RUN, RUN AWAY FAST!!!

Lawsuit against them

Just a quick note to the poster who said "if they are not wrong why are there over 23 class action law suits...", just because there are lawsuits out there, does not make a company or individual innocent or guilty. That's why we have trials. Also, a settlement is not an admission of guilt. Its a money saving tactic to keep pices lower for true loyal customers. And the one person supporting dtv, is right. When you sign up online disclosures are there, a tech installs and you sign "he was there" that was acceptance. Ohh yea, the contract never expires, but the length of time with the company to avoid a etf lowers. This is available at the website www.directtv.com for all to see. I'm not employee nor custmer, just against complaining before facts.

Stay away - Direct TV sucks!

Direct TV sucks and they lie. They raised my rate and told me that in my contract it states that they can raise it anytime they want, yet if you cancel, they can charge you $250.00. They are scam artists and should be sued!!

Adult Sex Toy Infomercials

By the way... if you think "regular" stations carry adult sex toy commercials then you are even more concerning than I had originally suggested. Your childhood must have been a pretty horrible one if the channels you grew up watching carried sex toy infomercials thinking this was normal. Really, it is adult subject matter. We don't watch much television, most of our kids time is spent outside, water and snow skiing, surfing, biking ... the list goes on. The only time our kids want to watch TV is when the weather is so crappy they can't play outside. Even then they will usually opt for a good book. You are truly messed up and my heart goes out to you...

Directv steals one last $40

Back in September of 2011 I got tired of paying over $70 a month for Directv. Since the shows I like are primarily on MSNBC, and they stream the programs I like a day after broadcast. I saw no need to pay over $70 a month for what Directv was offering. So I cancelled my subscription, and learned that I was enrolled in a contract. I paid my outstanding balance, $84.76 for the service up to the day they discontinued providing the service. I returned the two receivers and remote controls, and Directv acknowledged receipt of the receivers and remotes. But $84.76 wasn't enough for Directv. No, they went ahead and charged my card for an additional $40.00!

This morning I called Directv, and requested the $40.00 back, But no, according to Directv, it is "not possible" for them to refund the $40.00 which I did not authorize them to take, they just took it from my bank account.

So the next time you wonder what these young people are protesting out on the streets at the moment, try television that costs over $70 a month for a basic, non-premium package.Try a big corporation, even though I paid my balance in full, and returned their equipment, stealing one last $40 from me. "Stealing?" Well, is there a different word for your money being taken without your permission?

Steal customers money

I agree with longfaces... they are tired of being ripped off so in the begining of service they ask for a card to put a hold on. This hold leaves the card open to be charged remaining balances. Its a mutual agreement until the free stuff goes away 100% of the time.

Adult Sex Toy Infomercials

I'm pretty sure from the sounds of you, that you are a bible beater corrupting her mind. And adult content is x rated and above, you should set channel locks or make favorite lists. Dtv has no control what comes on regular stations. I would take that up with the station carrying the infomercials.

Adult Sex Toy Infomercials

I have Direct TV. I signed up for online controls of the account. Under parental controls I pushed the option for no adult content. Unfortunly, they carry a number of adult informercial channels that sell adult sex toys. Even though I set up the option of having no adult content on Direct TV, that does not carry over to the ADULT SEX TOY INFOMERCIAL CHANNELS. My nine year old little girl, was going over the online guide saw a channel for "toys" and started to watch it. I was not prepared to address adult issues like "sex toys" with my child and had believed by selecting Direct TV hide adult content that all was okay... now we are headed for an appointment with a child counselor the help explain. It makes me sick I was paying 65/month for a service that has corrupted my little girls mind.

Early termination fee!

I became a direct tv customer in Nov 2011 under the American Airlines, 12, 500 pkg. I have been fighting with them since Feb to get my miles. At the moment I have spent over 15+ hours on the ph and can never seem to resolve it. I am on hold right now while the person who can not speak fluent English tries to resolve my issue. Direct TV is HORRIBLE on customer service and their channel service is also TERRIBLE. I'm paying for a pkg that is mostly NOTHING in the way of viewing options but I don't dare order other channels! I can't wait to end my 2 yr contract with them!!! Sick and tired of these companies that go overseas for their customer service reps!!! Looking for a class action lawsuit against Direct TV...is anyone aware of one being filed? I will file a complaint with the FCC.

Early termination fee!

Most unreasonable company I have ever been involved with. Have been customer for less than one year and FOUR dvr receivers have failed to operate properly. After waiting a week for the replacement equipment to arrive on FOUR separate occasions I canceled my service. Now they want their early termination fee. I have filed a complaint with the BBB but that's a waste of time. They just send your letter over to Direct tv and Direct tv says "The charges are valid" You never get the opportunity to speak with anyone except a csr that barely speaks English and has no authority to do a thing. Very POOR POOR SERVICE. Highly recommend going elsewhere.

I have a huge complaint about the Refer-A-Friend program...
I signed up for DirectTV a year ago. Love it! My neighbor has been interested in signing up with DirecTV ever since. I gave her my bill so we could EACH receive the $100 rebate...which is actually $10 off each of our bills for the next 10 months. Anyway, she signed up with a gentleman outside of Walmart. He had his little booth and charming attitude along with a pocket full of lies.He said she didn't need my account number and signed her up right then and there. He told her that he only needed my name and address in order for us to receive our $100s. The 2-year contract was signed and the little liar was all smiles and fallacies. The installer put her equipment in and she commenced to watching TV. Six weeks later, I called to see where our $100s were and poop hit the fan...Lord, bless their stone cold hearts. The first young lady put me on hold for several minutes but soon thereafter confirmed that neither my neighbor nor I were linked to a Refer-A-Friend discount. But, alas, it was "no problem to get this straighted out!" She patched me through to Stacy. Stacy is a mean-hearted woman, who I am sure has a hard time making friends. She explained that because my neighbor never gave the representative my account number, we were not privy to the discount. I explained that the lying poop shoveler told us that he would "take care of the details and not to worry". My next inquiry was to her supervisor (the guy at the next desk?) Paul said it was too late to establish this discount because the equipment was installed 3 weeks ago. What? He was sure that I understood because I was the kind of person that followed the rules and the RULES said that when my neighbor signed up, she had to have my account number right then. So because a representative of the company needed to meet his quota, my friend and I are out of our $100s. What a disappointment. I hope that lying representative has a tough time sleeping at night! And, as far as the supervisor is concerned...kiss my lilly white tulips for not helping two little old ladies.

Lawsuit against them

It would appear, few people contact an attorney, and few people, file lawsuits against
Dish Network, and DirecTV the few things, and few resolutions will be applied. It
appears these 'big' companies only understand legalese, and legal mumbo jumbo!! I
say, get organized, get with other fellow Satellite Sufferers to unite, and file a multi-county, multi-state, and multi-platform lawsuit! Pool all of those who are going through the EXACT same thing or worse like you. My advise if you and others can afford it, is have enough on YOUR side, to show of force. I always read the fine print, on some things, and I don't have to have their service. I simply cant afford it, but enough ambulance chasing, hungry, starving attorneys, that 'claim' "no fee till we win" may be the best option. But companies don't want to listen to you, they WILL listen to say a bunch of lawyers going public, getting CNN, and Fox to report these issues. Remember, the Microsoft lawsuit? Lot of people got upset, got organized and now Microsoft and Windows appear to behave themselves. But then again, its your money.

Lawsuit against them

I have also had money taken out of my account today. I was signed up for auto pay bill but when the bank changed the card to a chip card it also changed the expiration date. Well, I got that straight, signed up for auto bill pay in Jan 2012, I didn't understand why they did take the monies out of my account, so I e-mailed them, they told me to pay it. I did, next thing I know, I am getting a disconnection notice stating that my service was going to be disconnected on 03/20/12, so I paid for February 2012. I spent 4 hours talking to every rep there was while they gave me their excuse of why they did not take the monies out of my account when I was signed up for auto bill pay. Then here come the automated collection calls, so I found the corporate telephone number called them and they had them stopped. Well, I cancelled auto bill pay on 03/08/12 since they kept on telling me to pay it. Well, today I come home and find out that they took out $68.57 when my bill was not due until the 25th of this month. Back on the phone again another 2 hours talking to reps and supervisors about the unauthorized payment they took out of my account after I had cancelled the auto bill pay. Their reason being, I owe them money, but the sad thing is it was due on the 25th and not the 21st. I contacted my bank, I will be filing a dispute with the bank and disconnecting my service and also filing a complaint with the BBB. I work hard for my money and no company will take it from my account when they want it.

prepaid visa card promotion

direct tv offers a rebate package that includes a lower monthly cost for 12 months and a $100.00 visa card. the conditions for receiving this card, require the subscriber to have their monthly bill automatically paid by credit card or debit card. after ordering direct tv service and having the first monthly bill deducted from my bank account i find that the visa card offer is only valid if service was ordered from an approved direct tv dealer. i'am sure that this false advertising and misleading at best. as for direct tv being a truthful and honest company to deal with, i think not.b67

Directv President & CEO contact info:

I had run into financial problem back in Dec. of 2011 and could not pay my bill to Direct TV when my services were disconnected. Recently we were able to afford the service again and had the service turned back on with minimal payment and a small reconnect fee, which was fine. I have three seperate boxes and while the two rooms worked, the bedroom did not. I called the service deprtment where the technician (Ha) told me there was a 3"x5" box that needed to be reset. I new there was no box, but she insisted and I began looking for this box while she held to the line, as I craweled through the attic on my quest for this box. I could not hold the phone while I craweled thropugh the insolation of my attic and told the tech I would call back when I found the box.
The box was not there, as I new it wasn't, and I called back getting another technician. The tech had me open the corner of the box reciever and give him the number, he asked me to wait and connected the reciever from his location. We watched programming until we turned the box off that night.
The next morning the box would not work again. I called Tech Service and attemted to get the tech to reset the box as the previous day. She said that it was not possible to do so. The Tech person said that an appointment would be made to check the lines and it would cost me $59 bucks for the in-house service..."Rediculous!" I said. I hung up and tried a different Tech, hoping I would get one that new how to solve the problem.
This Tech had me checking all the connections and I ended back up in the attic checking multiple couplers, splices and foot upon foot of unsecured lines. None of the splices were tight or secured and coils of wire left dangerously in the opening of my attic entrance.
I tightend the "hand tight" connectors and the service to the reciever came on as I could hear it from the attic space. As I craweled from the attic servicing the poorly assembled cables, I was hung in the line and fell backwards down the later hitting my side to the door opening, scraping my schin and hitting my head loosing work for days and crippling my, already fused back..
I was to pay for a service that was not installed properly, was not secured and was hand tightened. I craweled for hours looking for a box that doesn't exist and was sent to several technicians that I have doubts of their experience level. Then ended up hurt and crippled because a installer was to lazy to put the cable in correctly and had no one to answer to for his installation...codes for example.
Any way, I am pissed and sending notification to corporate Direct TV with pictures of the installation and my injuries.

Steal customers money

Oh, and Dish requires the same. These companies are tired of getting ripped off by deadbeats who leave final bills. If you dislike the policies do not use their service. Go to the website and READ the terms. I bet your credit report is tore up from all the bad debts that you have not paid. And you call them thieves.
