FRAUD

DON'T GIVE THIS ORGANIZATION ANY CREDIT CARD NUMBERS, DEBIT CARD NUMBERS OR ANY!!! INFORMATION ABOUT YOURSELF.
getaroom.com Texas HACKED INTO MY BANK ACCOUNT FOR $1 AND THEN PROCEEDED TO MAKE SEVERAL PURCHASES AT DIFFERENT HOTELS ALONG THE WEST COAST.
WHEN I CALLED THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER THEY REFUSED TO ANSWER ANY OF MY QUESTIONS AS TO WHY THEY WOULD ALLOW A $1 TAP.
EACH TIME I ASKED TO BE TRANSFERRED TO THEIR FRAUD DEPT THEY HUNG UP ON ME.

NYC Hotel Booking

Total scam of a company!! Do not use this company EVER!!
Booked the Pearl Hotel in NYC back in Oct 2013 for a 7 night stay during Jan 2014.
They offered what I thought to be a fantastic rate for that hotel.
A few days before my visit, I called the hotel direct to check that my booking was confirmed.
I was not booked in and the hotel had no knowledge of my booking!!
Called Hotel-Rates.com customer service number ( same company as getaroom.com ) only to be given a total run around!
Despite having an email confirming my booking with a booking reference number, they tried to convince me that I had booked a different hotel!!
It took me several calls ( from the UK ) before they eventually confirmed that they had made an error and booked the wrong hotel.
I can accept that people make errors, but the service I got after that was simply unacceptable.
As I was not due to travel for several days, I simply asked them to honour the booking and correct their error.
They refused point blank to do this, saying that the Pearl Hotel could not be booked for the price I had been charged when I initially made the booking?
When I pointed out that it was their web site had offered that price and ( in my opinion ) their confirmation email was a binding contract they simply blanked me completely.
I was forced to cancel my booking and rebook the Pearl Hotel using Expedia.
This new booking cost me an extra $573.
I was eventually refunded my initial charge of $1318, but as I live in the UK, I lost out to the sum of £93 GBP due to differing currency exchange rates.
I approached the company again, asking for compensation and after several emails they agreed to repay me the $20.99 booking fee they charge, plus a $100 "gesture" payment.
However this money has never been refunded and the company has stopped responding to my emails! I now realise that I am never going to see any further payment.
As I live in the UK, it is virtually impossible to sue a US company, so will have to give up on this really bad experience.
Had I lived in the USA, then I would definitely have sought legal advice in order to recover all my financial losses.
Keep away! You have been warned.

Don't do business with this company

I booked and prepaid for a room through this site and received both a receipt and confirmation email. When I arrived at the hotel they had no record of my reservation. They called the company and were disconnected (after many transfers) four times! The website had booked me at another hotel and tried to play it off as my error even though I had a print out of my confirmation with me! They were rude, no even remotely helpful and told me to just pay for another room at the hotel I wanted to stay at and then send in my emails for review. They wouldn't give their last names and no supervisors were available to come to the phone. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!

Don't do business with this company

I would never use this company. I received a voicemail stating an IT glitch with my booking and that the system had booked a different hotel. The options they gave me were to either keep the booking with the different hotel or cancel the whole booking. Several pointless calls to Customer Service of which all would simply respond with the same canned response. Even though they totally accepted the issue was with there IT system, if I wanted my original hotel I would have to book again which just happened to be of a higher cost. They could not honour my initial booking as it was not on there "inventory" - ????

I had booked this room nearly two months prior to the trip and they informed me of the so called IT glitch a week before my trip. I had the an email confirmation of my booking - so no IT glitch in my view. In my opinion this is a total scam and I would not recommend using this company. There customer service was simply dismal and rude. There was no one was willing to help and after several attempts to speak to a supervisor where they put me on silent hold and no one would speak to me again - simply awful.

I would not use this company, I personally believe they are a scam. Use someone else!

Getaroom.com is horrible

Getaroom.com is nothing more than a credit card phishing site that should not exist. That site has web crawlers on all trusted hotel booking sites that redirect consumers to their "site" with the promise of low unpublished rates that people on tight budgets can't seem to resist. I work at a hotel and in the past month have seen an increase in people showing up thinking they had confirmed reservations from getaroom.com when they clearly did not. Calls to Getaroom lead the customer nowhere and in all instances the standard response was they use another party to book the room. They will apologize profusely and say there was a mix up and the reservation was never made. Fact is getaroom.com extracts payment knowing the consumer won't discover the deception until they attempt to check into the hotel they think they've booked at. The consumer is then charged a cancellation fee when they call getaroom to complain.

To remedy this if this happens to you contact your state Consumer Affairs office, your State Representative, contact your bank if you used a debit card and have them stop payment or call your credit card company and dispute the getaroom charges. Keep all email correspondence and print it out. While the documentation will be useless for reservation purposes, it is most excellent evidence in court.

Last but not least, know this, all hotels have published and unpublished rates available by calling the hotel directly, by calling the brands 800 reservation line or by using 3rd party vendors such as Expedia, Priceline, Travelweb, Hotels.com and the like. Unpublished rates cannot be lower than 30% off the hotel rack rate based on current occupancy at any given time. It's your money, spend it wisely. Don't spend it foolishly on a website no one has ever heard of.

Akilmane, I hope you come back and read my advice and follow through to get your money back from getaroom.com.

GETAROOM.COM ROCKS!! Great deals. Huge selection. Awesome travel agents when calling their 800 number!
Plus they have this thing called "unpublished rates"... which is even a lower price than the online!

Misleading advertising

I booked what getaroom.com (getaroom) describes as an ocean view room at the Gansevoort Miami Beach. The room has ocean glimpses, at best, but in all probability what are more accurately described as views of the building next door, or 'partial ocean view' rooms - which is what the hotel's website calls them.

On checking in and finding out my room did not have the view getaroom's website described when I booked, I spoke with both reception and getaroom.com and were told nothing could be done (some suggestions they 'may be able to move me to a better room next week' were made - no guarantees). I prepaid the accommodation charge, so am being held over a barrel to accept what I've received, which is not what was provided, or forego the money I have prepaid and go somewhere else. Not all the features guaranteed on getaroom's website are in my room (e.g. a coffee maker). I was told by getaroom that I should follow this up with the hotel direct.

Further, Gansevoort has an advertised offer of a complimentary upgrade subject to availability. On checking in they said as they have 'limited inventory' left, that I could indeed have the room up rage, but would have to pay an extra $100 per night to get what they had said, one day prior, would be a complimentary upgrade if rooms were available.

Getaroom.com is horrible

As I stood at the registration desk and told that my PAID, CONFIRMED, room was not available and that getaroom.com never confirmed the room, I was apoplectic. I wrote management at getaroom the following email - they are terrible:

Your service is horrible. How can it be that I make a reservation with you, get a confirming email, and then show up at the hotel's check in desk to be told the reservation does not exist, spend 45(!) minutes waiting for someone on your 800 number to pick up the phone (after getting disconnected 3 times), only to tell me that the reservation was not 'accepted' by the hotel, That's the first outrageous thing. The second is that when I ask about getting an immediate refund your rep tells me that you can't process this immediately (you sure processed the initial charge immediately!) and tells me not to worry about it (like I trust you after you screwed me on the room). And then has no compassion about the fact that I am standing on a saturday night in a hotel lobby WITHOUT a room and with every hotel oversold. What was the rep thinking - I was just going to get something on my own. I had to go back to the airport, re rent a car, drive an hour back to a friend's house, and stay the night there, wasting $60 in rental and gas and taking an extra 2 hours out of my life, all because your service CONFIRMS a reservation and bills its customers whether the room is available or not. You are the not the kind of service I want to do business with - and I'll post this every place I can on the internet review sites so everyone else knows it to. You guys are horrible. Very disappointed.
