Global Discovery Vacations - Scam

My husband and I brought into this about 5 years ago. We used it one time for vacation in Las Vegas. Since, every time we try to book anything at a resort they never have anything available at the times we are trying to go. They never have any spots in any good resorts. This is a waste of money. I would not recommend buying into this.

Global Discover is a Scam

I pray you read the posts on this web site before you even agree to waste your time listening to this God-aweful pitch. It's a scam; pure and simple and I can't believe that some sorry individuals would actually do this to another human being. My wife and I got sucked into this ruse in 2013. We used the service 1 time...1 time and had to get a refund (8 weeks later) because it was cheaper to go outright. Yet, we have been repeatedly charged a renewal fee. It was removed in 2015 only after I threatened action via the TX Attorney General. So...err uh umm...guess what? They charged me again in 2016! Dates are not available. Places are dives. The terms are lies. They will say anything to get you to sign and send them a monthly payment while they pile on fees and pour out pitiful excuses why you can't use their 'stars' 90% of the year. There is a burning caldron in hell for whoever thought this up. Run...don't walk...RUN from this group or you will be filled with the same sense of profound disappointment I have.

Global is a scam

Spent hours at their office in Palm Harbor and after agreeing to the 1900 package they upsold me like an idiot for 4 gateway vacations and upping it to 2900. I've been paying without any vacations in a year. Haven't been able to find any I like in places I want to go to! Horrible. THey have nothing on beaches! I got suckered into the whole $179 a week and I kept telling them my vacations are always on high times as I am a teacher so it's very hard. I've been paying and I am not happy. Oh, to get the free vacation was a hassle and then when I saw what I had to pay for my FREE vacation and it wasn't taxes only, I never took that either. And I was told I was never going to pay the membership fee if I didn't use it, That was another good thing they sold me on, I feel so dumb, so cheated and I had my 3 kids with me the whole time, and to take advantage was just so wrong.. and the lady selling it to me was a teacher!
I WILL BE APART OF ANY CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT.

No Complaint

The only complaint I have is all the dumb complaints on this web site about Global! We purchased into Global 7 years ago and we absolutely love it! There has been 2 years that we didn't travel (due to health reasons) and we were not hassled to pay our yearly fee and it doesn't hurt your credit like not paying for your time share. We have only had 1 place that was just so-so all the other condos have been amazing! We are so glad we signed up for this travel club, we actually purchased another 8 week package so we have 14 weeks of vacationing fun.

scammed by global

We got sucked into this scam and cannot get out. Our "consultant' is some slap Ryan Murphy who doesn't return calls and his boss Jim Hall? is as sleazy as a used car salesman. Everyplace that I have looked at I double check with reviews on Trip Adivsor. Most are filled with horrible reviews. Blurry pictures, the lack of pictures are just part of the nonsense with these guys.

Have not use the "Free Trip" because upon checking these places online you see the crap holes they are. We bought this thinking we could book trips and then give them away. NO WAY. SCAM ALL THE WAY

Global Discovery Vacations VERY MISLEADING SALES REPS

I WILL BE MUCH IN FAVOR OF LEGAL ACTION AGAINST THEM ALSO!

We have never made snap decisions when purchasing anything during 41 years of marriage. I am very disappointed in my self and acutually embarassed to admit I fell for their sales pitch! Looking back if i would have just taped our conversation not for a lawsuit but for my piece of mind!
That will be my suggestion to have undercover customers go to the presentation and gather enough information that legally can be used in court and stop the company from being dishonest and misleading! Those of us that were suckers and fell far the buy in will never see any of our money back except though the court system. We tried to get out also but did not make the three day money back! Not all of the reps are dishonnest or misleading!
Everyone needs to start a journal each time you contact them! You need dates and times, reason for calling customer service or rep and you need their name and company number and direct telephone extension. You can tape the conversation but must inform them that the conversation maybe taped!
If by writing this review and I can prevent one family from making the same mistake allowing this company to get their money I will feel a little better!

Renewal fee scam

Purchases membership in 2012 unfortunately the renewal fee will be added continuously every year as long as you have a loan on this account regardless if you use it or not they still charge you the renewal fee every year when I called to complain about it they told me my current contract stated as long as I owed money that they would continuously charge me after reviewing my contract it's not true and I'm in the process of getting two years refunded back to my account which you make the balance zero at this time I think this would be a good time for a class action lawsuit for all the people that been charged over the years when they haven't been using their membership

Bad accommodations, no security

My family arrived at the 'Legacy Vacation Club' in Orlando on 3/18/16 planning a great week between DIsneyworld and Universal Studios. The ONLY thing good about it was the location. When we checked in, the receptionist told us that someone is at the front desk until 11pm, after that, there are security guards available and a phone number to reach them if necessary. The accommodations were below average. When we entered the condo, there is a welcome book stating amenities and rules, etc. One prominent thing mentioned was 'quiet hours' after 10 p.m. as a courtesy to other customers who might be resting----no loud TV, music etc. After a long 10 hour drive to get there, we all went to bed around 11:15p.m. At 12:15 a.m. the family adjacent to us came 'home' and started shouting at each other LOUDLY as well as turning up the volume of their TV. They had several children who were also shouting, singing, running around, slamming doors LOUDLY. This continued until 3 a.m. At 1 a.m., they decided to start cooking and obviously by the disgusting smell, burning food---setting the smoke alarm off THREE times between the hours of 1a.m. and 3 a.m. We tried to call the security guards at number provided to us FIVE times with NO ANSWER. The yahoos in the condo next to us could have started the place on fire and there is no security team to contact. We checked out in the morning after telling the receptionist what happened during the night and subsequently had to find other last minute accommodations at in Disneyworld for the week to the tune of $3900. The only thing we got from Global Discovery was ' sorry--we'll look in to the matter". This was our first experience with Global Vacations and was well beyond disappointing.

Global Discovery Vacations is a SCAM!!!

Global Discovery Vacations is a scam. They promised me a free week in a resort, 2 round trip airline tickets, a $50 dinner card to sign on to their vacation program. They gave me a brochure to choose a vacation destination. I chose one and what they offered me was a 2 hour drive away and I couldn't use the airline tickets with it. The airline tickets is a joke. You have mail a form with the names of travelers, wait for a response, which took months, choose 2 major airports and 3 destinations. The first choice is 60 days from the request and the next 2 choices 30 days apart...what???. Of course, Global Discovery Vacations can't help with any of the airline stuff because it's a different company and they have no control over it. The dinner card isn't $50 at all. You register on line and choose a bunch of different restaurants for 5-15% off each. They even told me they have the best possible rates you can get on hotels because they buy in bulk. My AAA got me a better rate. Everything they told me is a lie and there's more than what I wrote above. I found 45 complaints with the BBB just under one of their names, including an attorney general. I would love to file a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. Any interest? I'm not sure how to go about doing that though.

MISLEAD

My husband and I have been members of Global Discovery Vacations for three years now and do we regret it, YES! We joined in 2013 and like many others, the presentation was very misleading. If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. We should have known better and we so regret spending this money on a vacation package that we really can't use. We enjoy vacationing several times a year, and although we don't expect 5 stars resorts, the vacation spots offered through GDV are truly 2 star resorts. We are constantly on the site searching for a vacation spot but nothing is ever where you want to go or offered during the time you want.
The only good thing we are so relieved about is that we only bought into the $3,000 offer. However, we did know there is also a $159 processing fee that they fail to mention and if you don't use your vacation week, your $375 activity fee is nonrefundable.
We really are going to look into some type of class action suit against GDV. Not fair that they are taking our hard earned money for something they promised but not owning up to. Here we are now, trying to book a vacation (have been for the last 6 months) and can't find nothing. And we are not going to stay in any old dump!

Global Discovery Vacations

We too got mislead. But the great news is this: You have 3 days to serve them to cancel and you will get your money back. No need to send it in the mail as it will take too long and it will not make it in the 3 days.

Solution we found is to call John at Volusia Process & Courier (386) 677-6565

He will have you email him your cancellation letter, and he will hand deliver your cancellation to them and supply you an Affidavit that it was delivered to them. His fee is very low, at the time he charged us only $30.00.

Please Cancel my Account

Please help me as well, I have joined Global Connection for almost 3 years as well paying every month. My ex-wife wanted it so bad because she wanted us to go for vacations. We recently got divorced and the court ordered maintenance and child support that is about 80% of my salary every month. Living became very difficult and I lost my house. I couldn't continue with the payment and I called the company letting them know I need to cancel and they told me I can not cancel and the woman I spoke to "BONNIE"(Account rep) and she said - "even if you die now we will still get our money from you". I was very angry and asked to talk to someone above her. I also found out that they have a lot of hidden fees that keeps bringing the total amount to be paid up. This mean you will never get to finish the payment.
They do not tell the customer they have no cancelation policy or hidden fees.
Please help me appeal to Global Connections to cancel my account. I can not continue to make the payment in this situation.

Global Connections Inc 'Scam now in Tampa Bay area

This account was procured by fraud. They offered 2 free airline tickets for visiting with them. When I called, I was told it was to introduce us to them as a new travel agency and we would just be taking a tour of their office. When we arrived, the name on the door was different than the name on the invitation. Instead of a tour, we endured over 3 hours of high pressure sales tactics in a freezing cold room and I got sick, developed a fever and had to go outside several times. We were told there were plenty of pet friendly accomodations on the beach in Florida near to us since that is really what we like to do in the summers. They named some nice chain hotels like Hyatt and also said there were condominiums on the beach. We were quoted a price and it kept going down until we were told that was the lowest price and that we could make payments. They presented us a payment schedule represented to be equal to the price quoted. We signed up and one of the papers they showed us the back of had the 3 day cancellation policy. It also was a finance agreement that included interest and they wanted a credit card to deduct the payments for. We gave it to them and finally left around 8:00 pm. The next day we investigated what was available through this vacation club and also looked at some of the complaints online - they sounded like our experience. There was only one local beach accommodation available and it was in September and was not pet friendly. Once we realized this was a scam, we cancelled in writing within the 3 day time period. Our credit card company reversed the charges and credited us but Global Vacation keeps trying to collect even after though they have reported the account as closed and a write off to the credit bureau. They also have reported this as a line of credit that was used 100% which tanked our credit scores. . They operate under various aliases including Global Vacation Network, Affordable Vacations, Access Aliance, Global Discovery Vacations and Global Connections, Inc. Also, the free airline tickets promised as an incentive to tour their" travel agency" were not free. It was a voucher to mail in within 30 days with a service fee in order to obtain the tickets.
When my wife finally reached a person listed with an email ([email protected]) she was told they would cancel if we let them keep the down payment and 2 months payment and sign a nondisclosure agreement We refused to do this because we are reporting this to the Attorney General and BBB. In summary, the tour of the travel agency was solely a high pressure sales encounter to join their vacation club. Then they bait and switch from the price quoted to a payment plan and they do not disclose it is a line of credit with interest to be applied. They bury that in the paperwork you sign and simply point out you have 3 days to cancel. When you cancel, they will not honor the cancellation request. In summary, Also, the airline tickets promised were not given - only a voucher that you had to send in with money within 30 days to supposedly get the tickets.

Wild price variables

Haven't used it yet...three? years ago we went to the presentation...but as I was VERY resistant and threatening to get up and walk out ( I smelled scam from the moment my gullible partner told me about this vacation club), the price to join went from 9000.00 to around 1000.00. Trying to collect the "free" notebook gift took weeks of phone calls. We have not yet used the "free" cruise, which was another gift for signing up. Are going to attempt a trip this summer. Will keep this board posted.

Total Scam

We went to hear a presentation by GDV on Saturday, Jan 31. We did not know anything about this company. Now we know it is a scam. We listened for an hour about how we could go to all these resorts. Rudy, the presenter, told us many many time about the huge number of resorts that we might not see on the website, but that if we called, we could get them. We have limited means for travel. We love to golf, and Rudy assured us that we would get affordable access to many golf resorts. He confirmed for my husband that we definitely wouldn't have a problem staying at Hilton Head resort in South Carolina or the Greenbrier in West Virginia. No problem at all. We signed a lot of papers. My husband went on a business trip the next morning. When he came back we looked at the offer again and realized that we can't really use any of the options. I called to cancel. It is NOT CANCELABLE. We are stuck with this crap for life. They stole our money and refuse to return it. There are no golf resorts in our future. They took our money knowing very well that golf resorts are not an option. It was difficult for us to go on vacation before, but now they stole what little opportunity we had.

Total Scam Avoided by Skin of Our Teeth

I responded to sincere-sounding mailings promising absolutely no high pressure sales tactics for an unnamed travel agency that was not selling timeshares and there would be absolutely no monies exchanged. The only qualifiers were if we agreed to sit through a 90-minute presentation, were married, lived together, were between 25-72 years old, and had a credit card. We were guaranteed at a minimum a set of free airline tickets and also a $50 dining card since we came from over 25 miles away. After 30 minutes in a room where each couple is at a table with an assigned agent to "get to know us and find out about our travel dreams" we were all herded into a larger presentation room, still with our assigned agent seated next to us, where we finally learn the company is Global Discovery Vacations. The agents also helped with canned laughter throughout the "entertaining" presentation in an atmosphere where you are waiting for the "Oh, by the way" shoe to drop...which did happen when the "Today's Charter Member Discount" was revealed, so instead of $16K you could become a member for $13K, but hey, at luxury lodgings for $159/week the payback is overwhelming, right?. They then lead you back out, with of course your assigned agent in tow, to the previous "get to know you" table tops for more conversation only interrupted by other agents regularly announcing their couple had just signed up for a destination TBD. Unbelievably, after several reasons they gave for doing so, including my wife being a teacher, we signed up for a discounted $6K program and after signing all paperwork, using "that credit card for qualifying purposes", and got us registered as online members we were out the door over 3 hours later! But as we were leaving they looked forward to us starting to use services in 4 days after paperwork has cleared. We thought about that last tidbit on the way home thinking "Hmmm, like maybe there's a 3-day cancellation clause they didn't mention?" Now that we knew their name we looked online for reviews and then went online to their website. After specifically saying we've travelled domestically over the years and were now looking forward exploring most of Europe and the Caribbean we saw they have virtually nothing in those areas and that most locations are indeed in the USA. This is because they rely on available condos (unused timeshares maybe??) instead of hotels. Found 3-day cancellation clause on back of contract so sent overnight letter immediately so $6K posting to card was finally dropped after 5 days. I've been around the block but, in spite of my wife's concerns, fell for it. STAY AWAY!!!!!!

Poor Service et al

My wife & I joined GDV 5-6 years ago. We have gone on several trips..Scottsdale, AZ., Cape Cod, & our son used a week in France. We have not used GDV every year only because it seems it is becoming more & more difficult to make a reservation. On 8/31/14, I entered a request for a Florida rental for March 2015. The request form says an agent would call in 24 hours. After a week, I had to call & leave a message. I received a message yesterday from Caitlin who said "there were lots of people in front of us and they were working through them and they would call me when they got to us, but it was very doubtful that we would get our requested dates (I gave them 3 different weeks) since the places didn't open up until May and maybe we could plan a summer vacation." Wow! When we signed up, we were told that requests for US locations needed to be in about 90 days prior to travel and 6 months for Europe. Sounds to me that GDV has signed up a lot more members, but has not added resort capacity to match. Additionally, customer service reps can't handle the requests in a timely manner. Ironically, I was called by another GDV person to host a GDV party in order to solicit potential members the very same day Caitlin called to inform me of my request. So, do you think I'm going to do that? In retrospect, I wish we never joined GDV. There are other things the sales rep who sold us this package told us that are turning out not to be true…like when I asked if they had resorts in San Francisco or San Diego. He said no, but that wouldn't be a problem because GDV has other ways to access places in those areas. In retrospect, we should not have invested over $5000 in this outfit. How far in advance to we need to plan a trip to Florida…2 years now?

Scam to the Nth Degree

We went to the presentation today. 800 Soth Main Street, Mansfield, MA
Obviously plants in the room. (People whooping it up)
We followed the signs to Premier Travel. Then were introduced to Global Discovery Destinations. So whats the name of the Company???? And who is Infinity Incentive Travel??
Quite long presentation with quirky dumb jokes. Then we were shown computers with big pretty pictures and everything. Oh Boy!
These people thought we were going to give them $4,000 plus yearly fees, and pay for the actual room for the week too. And they were talking about stars like it was some kind of behavior reward chart. C'mon guys Realy. Get a new Act.
Oh and BTW next time you introduce people on your team as being former military.. Make sure they don't weigh 400 pounds.
The free "Airline tickets" are a total joke. US Airlines is not an existing company.
The AAA Rating by the BBB is a complete lie. It is a bait and switch scheme. Be completely aware.
If you have been scammed by these scoundrals.... Stop paying them... Send a cancellation letter to the headquarters in AZ.
Send 3 letters to the credit reporting bureaus and put the charges in dispute. They can not use that info to touch your credit while it is in dispute. Good Luck!!!!

This service is a joke

I wish we weren't pressured into this program. We bought the lowest package, and I feel like we can't go on a vacation when we want to go there are so many rules and its becoming ridiculous trying to plan a vacation of any kind. Everytime I call in its the same answer " Keep checking the website to see if an opening comes up" Im sorry but I shouldn't have to do that.I should be able to get on the website and pick what I want and where I want as they made it sound when we were there for their 2 1/2 hour presentation. And the free plane tickets and free weekend away is a joke as well Ive paid into all of this and am very upset with this. I will not ever recommend this program to anyone ever.

We too we're suckered into this network! We asked specifically SEVERAL times if they had places in Seattle and told YES, of course they have ONE in Washington but it's an hour and a half from Seattle, we too feel stupid ! Nothing has been as represented, does anyone know what we can do ? This is so disappointing because we NEVER get to travel and they made us think this was the answer but instead we are paying a monthly fee for NOTHING!! We would like to be part of that lawsuit!
