air conditioner

My wife suffers from M.S. and has hearing and memory problems. Earlier this year a salesman called to the door while I was out.

She was under the impression that OEG were going to visit to maintain the furnace. Instead I arrive home to find a new central Air Conditioner installed. The previous one was now resting on the front lawn. I called OEG up and told them to re-install our original Air Conditioner. After many arguments they agreed to remove the new one but would not re-install our Air Conditioner. To this day it is sitting on the driveway of our house.

This summer has been very hot and this company has caused my wife a lot of discomforth. The air conditioner was originally installed for her health

Door to Door Scammers

This individual was insistent, and repeatedly tried to barge into my home, claiming that it was "by law", that he had to check my heating and cooling system. I explained that both were brand new and exceeded energy star standards. He then changed tactics, saying that he had to check to see if it was up to code. I told him it was installed by a registered professional, and he changed tactics again, saying that he had to examine the coolants, and exhaust, to see if they were up to government standards. When I was adamant that I would not allow him access to my hvac system, he said that it had to be done, and he would return to talk to my husband.
The problem with these scammers are that they look "official", and they are like rabid dogs with a bone. They try to be nice, then they try being official, and then they switch to scare tactics to try to gain access to your home. I worry about all the seniors, and women who aren't handy, or familiar with their heating and cooling sytems, who may fall for the clipboard, matching shirt/hat, and scare tactics. Somebody needs to put a stop to this!

Ontario Energy Group Scammers

These people come to my door, are extremely rude and try to barge their way into my home after telling them to leave many times. One had the audacity to go into the backyard without our permission and allowed both of my dogs to run away. Next time you come on my property, I am calling the police without hesitation. Keep your scam away from me.

ontario energy group

I have told theses people 4 times to go away and in a month or so they are back. Each person has been different but the story the same, they are working with the Ontario government to inspect furnaces and a/c units to see if they meet the new government safety standards. Each time I tell them I will not allow the inspection but they persist. Is there a way to make them stop?

OEG. Scammers

Hey everyone i use to work with OEG as door to door sales. Everything that i use to say at the door they told me to say it so i can make 5000$ aweek but the only thing that made me leave is that I didn't believen the program. I advice every homeowner to stay away from OEG the sales people are innocent they don't know anything about the company the company is cam. All the numbers that they use doesn't make sense and every word they say is alie they have to pretend to care about the homeowner and they are there to give them the better solution just know that none of the numbers are right the contract is for 15 years your paying 160 a month for 15 years that's about $28,000 how's that saving We have to say is the lost furnace and AC that you ever have to worry about in your home but that's not right because after the contract is done there's no maintenance plan or warranty. my device to all the homeowners be nice to them but don't buy anything from them. They are not from the covermant and they say that they here to inspect the HVAC system but all what they are there for is to get you to sign the contract

Ontario Energy Group

For about the 4th time, this company came knocking on my door, claiming that they are here to inspect my air conditioner and furnace, as the Provincial regulations have changed, as noted on the flyer included in my January gas bill, in that all furnaces and hot water tanks had to be double-vented, no longer could they be vented through the chimney alone. Oh and by the way the good news is that our furnace hits all three qualifications for acquiring a new high efficiency furnace at no charge to me! Amazing! A brand new furnace that they will service 2ce/year, and look after all parts and labour! Not only is it free, but the government will send me a cheque for $250.00 for having a new furnace installed! How wonderful!! They will take away my "old" furnace (only 10 years old) and install the new one for free. This is just simply too good to be true!! So I asked about the charges for this "free" furnace and found they would charge me $80/month rental, but really that's free because my energy cost savings will more than cover the rental charge. And I can pay out the furnace at any time, but oh by the way, NONE of my rental fees are going towards a pay-out, that will be a number they apparently pull out of a hat (or any other orifice) and hit you with down the road. The very nice, friendly gentleman who was here yesterday, his name is apparently Fida Kasi, (according to the business card he gave me) claims to be the supervisor for our area, and was very mystified when I told him we were hip deep in his little sales force, and had to repeatedly order them out of our house and off our property. I also mentioned the recent CTV news Consumer Report on this type of furnace rental scam, and he had "absolutely no idea" what I was talking about. The ONLY way I could get this guy out of my house was to promise to discuss this with my husband, leave me your business card, and we'll call once we have made a decision. Don't be fooled, these people DO NOT represent the Provincial government or any legitimate utility company in any way shape or form. I'm somewhat surprised that given the depths they sink to, that they have not been shut down by now.

Ontario Energy Group

These guys come door to door trying to tell you they are the people sent around by the government when energy standards have changed. They say they are not there to try to sell you anything ... DON'T BELIEVE THEM. Ask them for a letter of authorization from the Ontario Energy Board that proves they have been authorized to do this. It is amazing how quickly they want to leave.

Pushy saleman

Today was the second time this organization came to my door. They claim they are authorized to check the furnace to make sure it is up to code, because there a new regulations set out by the government. Our furnace is new and only installed a few years ago. I asked if he worked for the government, and he would not answer me. I called Direct Energy, who provides service to our equipment and they told me they are not associated with this group. I continue to tell the man at my door he is not coming into my home, but they say until they inspect my furnace he is required to come back. How do I stop these annoying sales people from bothering me.

Poor service/repair

Allowed them to put a new efficiency furnace in my home in August, which leaked water into my basement in Mid February. They said they thought it was a condensation pump that had malfunctioned. I tried to be very accommodating for the technician to come in. They told me a window of 10-2 and they came at 5:30 at night with no call to say they were running late. The technician wasted no time getting to work, but instead of fixing or replacing any malfunctioning part, his solution was to run a 15to 20 foot tubing from the furnace along the ceiling and through my wall into a bathroom sink. It is an eyesore to say the least, and to me an unacceptable solution to a malfunctioning part on a new furnace. They of course do not see it that way although they did say that they understood my upset and could run the draining tube to my laundry tub as a solution. That would just be another 10-15 feet of further tubing.
We have been playing phone tag now, of course, and the service manager is supposed to call me. That will, of course, be at their convenience and it usually takes a week or so for them to decide to get back to me.
I was a big fool to get sucked into a contract with this group. I do not feel that my rental fee is worth my service AND the energy savings they said I should see are non existent and I have my thermostat set at 67degrees which is lower than last
year with my old furnace.
My advice is to stay clear of this company at all costs.

OEG False Representation

Last August two young men came to my house under the false representation that they worked along side the Ontario government to upgrade furnaces and save hydro. I was promised a minimum of a 200 dollar savings on my hydro bill in exchange for an additional 139.00 rental charge on my gas bill for the new furnace and A/C unit. I have saved nothing on my hydro bill (if anything it's higher) and now have the additional rental charges each month. I was also told this includes free maintenance including filter changes but I have phoned several times and have been unable to reach them. This company is getting away with robbery with no one to stop them.

PLANET ENERGY - Gas & Hydro Marketer

I was laid off from my place of employment (Pastor of a church) May 2014. A few years ago, I signed the church up with PLANET ENERGY - ENBRIDGE GAS Supply Marketer - & HYDRO Supply Marketer. Unfortunately my name is on the contract for each. The church building was sold last month to another denomination. I told Planet Energy Customer Service on the phone that I was not responsible for that contract termination because the property was sold - there are new owners. Today I received two letters from Collection Group of Canada (CGC). THEY HAVE PENALIZED ME FOR THE CONTRACTS TERMINATED!! Contracts ($177.89) and ($145.38).These people are out of control. I already explained the problem to their customer service but they insist someone must pay their ridiculous fees. Will Ontario Energy Board, or somebody, some regulatory body of our provincial government, please bring these people in line? I'm a senior citizen - they say my credit rating will suffer and are pressuring me to pay. HELP!!

Do not open your door to these people

Do not answer your door to them. They are pushy and make out that they are with the ontario government they wanted to come in and check all my appliances. And were offering me a bunch of rebates and said they can install a water heater for 15.00 a month. Asked if I was under a contract with anyone else. These people will go to all length to get into your home and sign you into a contract even bully or threats even told me Direct Energy does not supply the rental service any more. And they were going to show me a neighbors sign up sheet showing all their information. I Told if I want to change my service I will look myself. It is very simple don't answer your door or tell them no and shut the door.

Misleading/false infromation

On August 1, 2014, Andrew Dunnette an Energy Efficiency Advisor with Ontario Energy Group (OEG) called at my home and based on the facts that he provided, I entered into an agreement to have OEG install and lease a furnace and air conditioner. The monthly lease fee was to be offset by the elimination of the administration fees by Just Energy who were my gas and electrical provider. On August 6, 2014, the new equipment was installed and in October the first monthly lease payment was paid through my bank. However, no adjustments have been made to either of my utility bills. In late October/early November and again in late November I called OEG's service number but both calls went to v/m but in spite of the v/m message I left, no return calls were received. I contacted Dunnette on three occasions and was advised that follow-up would be undertaken but there was no return call. My last call to him went to v/m but in spite of my message asking for a return call, no callback was received. On December 3, 2014, I sent a registered letter to OEG. I explained that in the absence of their input, I concluded that my decision to enter into this agreement, had been based on information that they provided, which was false and/or intentionally misleading and/or direct fraud. I am awaiting a response.

Miss leading / false information

I had a gentleman come into my home under the impression that he worked with the government to make people aware of grants from the government. I stated that I was not comforitable making decisions without my husband present and I was not employed and my name was not on any of the hydro or gas bills but he assured me that there was nothing to worry about and that I could still discuss things with my husband and I was under no contract to get any work done. I was under the impression that I was signing paperwork to allow someone who is certified to come and discuss the costs of installation and balance out the cost of having the work done not to instal or remove any of my current heating or cooling appliances. Once I noticed that it was actually an agreement I was signing I told the gentleman to please discard the paperwork and I was not interested in being pressured to do something I had not discussed fully with my husband. He still continued to assure me that nothing would be done without my approval after a phone call. I stated I did not want a phone call and I had no interest in anything he was selling.
After he left I called up Ontario Energy Group and let them know I felt bullied into trying to buy a furnace and that I was not interested in and that these decisions should be made with all house owners present. This is not a good way for people to generate business. These practices should be stopped.

furnace btus not enough

my house is 1300 sqr feet and oeg installed a furnace with 45000 btus, where as i have been informed that i require a furnace with 75000 to 80000 btus . I feel that if a professional company is going to install a furnace into a home they should a least know what size and how many btus is required for that home.

misleading/false information

Young man came to door about 7:15 PM, Oct. 6/14, claiming he was there to check furnace to see if it complied with current regulations. Said that all furnaces had to be checked per new regulations, stated I received info with our hydro/gas bill. He insisted he had the right to inspect. After inspecting, he said the exhaust was not correct and new furnace required. I told our furnace was only 7 yrs.old and was inspected and serviced in the spring by the installer we bought from, but that didn't matter.
He explained that the savings of a new high efficiency furnace would pay for itself. I stated NO till I viewed these "new" regulations and asked him to leave. Went on line to discover regulations, effective Dec. 2009 apply to NEW installations of furnaces manufactured after that date. Exhaust also pertained to new installations. Also, found that we can keep our current furnace as long as it works properly.
My complaint is this fellow outright misleading me that he was an inspector and we had to be inspected and his outright lie about needing a new furnace. As of this writing he had not been back.

Furnace and Liner Cracks

2 men came to my door today trying to make me believe that they were checking everyone's furnaces and liner (chimney liner?) for cracks, saying that there were a lot of them, and that if I had it checked I could get a rebate. I told them I have it checked every year, and they wanted to know by who. When I told them, the said that they wouldn't know anything about it or the rebate. They tried to convince me that it should be checked, but red flags went up and I told them I don't allow any door to door people in my house without first checking them out. They then left. They reminded me too much of a company that had been here in previous years. I believe it's the same company, different name. I proceeded to go online and check them out. I was right... same old misrepresentation by a couple of very good looking young men with smooth talk. Hope my neighbours have not let them in, but I am sure some of them will.

Today 2 sales people came to my door wanting to check my furnace air ducts. I informed them everything was fine, that someone from their organization had already tried to scam us on a new furnace. 1 person would not take no for an answer and almost burst into the house while completely yapping, not allowing me to speak. I finally had to shut the door in his face. Please you as the consumer if you see these people at your door, do yourself a favor just ignore.

OEG represention

Two young men wearing OEG jackets, hats and badges came to our house. My husband allowed them into the backyard to inspect our aiir conditioner. I was told they needed to see my hydro bill or let them in to inspect our furnace. When I told them no they insisted that if I didn't at least tell them how much I was getting back(rebate) on my hydro bill that I would not qualify for up to $5000.00 government. I told them repeatedly that I was not going to give them any information. They even tried to show me some formal looking contract. They still persisted and I eventually lost my temper(Wrong thing to do) and had to repeatedly tell them to please leave my yard! I am so glad I payed attention to those comercials about door to door salesmen. Please dont allow them to bully you, firmly and politely shut the door.

gas rates rising

The government of Ontario is totally out of touch with what is going on in this economic environment. They have okayed a 40% increase in natural gas prices and the liberals should be held accountable for this debacle. I have supported the libs in the past but they have completely burned their bridges with this and will never get my vote again. I think we have seen the last of the liberals in Ontario.
