Charge on Telus Bill

I received a $4.99 charge on my phone bill for making a call to a 1-800 number that was out of service which never happened. They claim I used something called directory assistance where they provide you and contact you to the correct in service number but then go ahead and charge you for that without telling you there is a charge. I never made this call and this company just tries to scam you for anything. The lady on the phone was also very rude and essentially told me I am lying.

Took advantage of a mental health clientt

I am very disgusted by the advantage this fraudulent company has taken of mental health clients. I had a client who doesn't even know how to use apps or call out on his phone until I helped him. His phone gets disconnected and we find out they were charging 39.99 a month. The lady on the phone made it clear they won't take responsibility for it. i had to contact a legal assistance today to take it to the next level. Man, I am not going to let this one go. ITS all FRAUD.

Fraudulent charge of $3.89

Was charged $3.89 on my Bell home phone invoice, for allegedly calling 807 788 1246, at Triton Global. When called Triton Global, I was advised that I have dialed a "wrong number" for Royal Bank of Canada and there was a recording advising that I can get directory assistance at the cost of $3.89, by pressing 1. The problem is that before pressing 1, there was no recording advising that it would cost me $3.89, but just: "to obtain the number, press 1" and nothing else.

This Triton Global is obviously a scammer company. I do not know how they are allowed to operate, by deceiving the customer to press 1, without advising them that this will result in a charge of $3.89. Also, this "option" appears when you dial a wrong number, because the Royal Bank number has not been changed - it was the exact same 800-number that I have always used.

This SCAM should be dealt with as soon as possible and this company should be obliged to change their way of operation.

phone charge of 3.89

Received a charge of 3.89 . Alternate long distance provider Triton Global 807-788-1246
Shaw reversed the charge but was told it would be reversed only once. Apparently the charge is for directory assistance which I did not use. Not sure how to prevent it from happening again. Will try to block the number

fraudulent recordings misleading

This is a very fraudulent and deceitful organization. Apparently they are so large they only have one CSR who says she runs the whole office with a staff of one HER. I was provided a 1-800 number from someone when i dialed it a recorded message said the number changed and press 1 to redial the new number. through directory service. Nothing in the recording said anything about a charge. When I tried to bring this to Danielle the one and only CSR attention she refused to acknowledge that I heard anything except a recording she played which was nothing like the one I heard. She refused to acknowledge there was problem, to reimburse me or even show ant interest in the event at all. She continually told me I heard a fee. I have never seen anybody so deceitful and unethical be allowed to be on the phone. As they refuse to do anything and hung up as I was rude (wonder why when dealing with thieves).

As this fraudulent organization has no contact information or anyone to deal with except the supposed Danielle I question what is really going on here and how many people are being defrauded that don't bother to try to resolve. Which is hopeless anyways. I suggest anyone having any dealings with this person who by the way says she looks after all of Canada and the USA , contact the BBB asap. I am and will not stop until my 3.85 or whatever they claimed I was told it was is reversed.

So to prepare my case I asked her to replay the message she so quickly played for me to say I was having hearing problems, would not replay the message so I could record and compare to the message I actually heard. Now she was all of a sudden unwilling to be recorded. Interesting as you all know how many times we hear this call may be recorded for training purposes, guess they don't feel Danielle needs training,

Be Aware this is a very fraudulent and misleading organization. If this is how the work at 3$ level imagine how much they will defraud you if you invest more than that with them.

triton global

these crooks charged me 3.89 plus tax for so-called directory assistance which we never
used.
they say we chose the option to use the service but we never did this.
how can these crooks stay in business?
are there no laws to protect us - they seem to do this wherever/whenever they want,
knowing there is little recourse

Triton global fraud charges

I received a charge of $3.49 plus tax equal $4.01. My service provider Videotron confirmed that the charges is fro triton global. I never used this co. Never request a directory assistance, this is completely a fraud. I see a lot of people dealing with different provider had the same problem. My long distance provider charge me separately. I do not want to wait till I receive a charge for a big amount and my provider will not accept to reverse it. Please check into this matter. It looks like it has been going with different client for so long

Tritonglobal.ca

I received a charge from Triton Global for a service that I was unaware of. I have spoken to the company, but they will NOT reverse the charge.

I am blind and use the internet to stay in touch with friends and colleagues. I did NOT intentionally accept the charge of $ 43.92 on my phone bill.

How can I have this expense reversed?

This is the correspondence that I have received from them.

Good Morning,

The call was 3 minutes long and even being legally blind he would have heard within the first 10 seconds of the call that it was a chat line. Also the call was placed from the phone not to the phone which means he called the chat line service himself. The charge will not be credited.

Regards,
Danielle

suspected fraud

I found a $127.00 dollar charge on my Shaw bill. When I called Shaw they said the charge came from a third party billing company called Trident Global and said they (Shaw) had nothing to do with it. After making several complaints, and saying they mush have something to do with it because the charge is on my Shaw bill, they said they would remove the charge as a one time exception. I do not who Trident Global and why this was on my bill.

Triton Global Assist Services

I have received 2 long distance charges and an operator assist charge totalling $5.09 plus HST from this firm on my Bell invoice. These charges were made on July 16 from Ft. Frances # 807-788-1246 to my landline # 519-942-4382. I never used this service and I will be contacting Bell tomorrow to have them remove these charges.
From my inquiry made on the web concerning Titon, it appears that many others in the past have had this identical misfortune. I sincerely hope that the Commissioner for Complaints for Telecommunication Services can again be involved to rectify this continuing scam on innocent public phone users.
Sincerely,

Triton Global

I had an unauthorized charge of eight dollars by Triton Global. I have no idea who they are or why they are charging me because I have never incurred any charges over the telephone for eight dollars. I asked my carrier, Rogers, to help and they said I had to deal with triton global. Ever from what I have read, they are a scam and do this regularly. I do not know where to turn. They have billed me for something I did not authorize or incur. I do not think it should be up to me to deal with it because I am complaining to Rogers. The phone number given by triton global is 1-866-340-4990.

Phoney directory assistance reverse lookup charges

Two charges just 51 seconds apart, appeared as "Other carrier messages" on my Bell Canada home phone bill. Each $3.99. I never use directory assistance, and if I did it would be Bell's service from my landline, not Triton Global. I cannot tell if the numbers given were the numbers from which the supposed directory assistance call was made (one in Detroit, Michigan and the other Palm Beach, Florida according to some Internet searching I did.) I'll soon be calling Bell Canada to try to get these charges removed, and perhaps some block on any future charges from this <expletive deleted> company.

Ontario Ministry of Consumer Affairs Warning

http://www.sse.gov.on.ca/mcs/en/Pages/Scams_Telephone.aspx

Phony telemarketers cheat Ontario consumers out of millions of dollars each year. While you may not be able to avoid all unsolicited calls, you can learn how to spot the ones that may be a fraud.

1-900 Numbers
Any time you call a 1-900 number, be aware that:

•You are paying for the call — often at a minimum charge of about $35.
•Area codes 1-900, 1-976 and 1-809 have a similar minimum charge.
•The promoter gets a portion of the money from each incoming call.
•Pay-per-charge numbers are used by legitimate businesses to charge their customers for information services; however, such businesses tell you about the fee upfront.
•One scam artist often sells to another the names and telephone numbers of people who’ve lost money.
•If you are concerned, you can order a call-blocking service from your telephone company that restricts your phone from making certain types of calls. Don’t confuse 1-900 numbers with toll-free numbers, which allow consumers to contact government and business offices without paying a long-distance charge. Toll-free numbers begin with area codes 1-800, 1-888 and 1-877.
Two 1-900 Number Scenarios

Scenario 1

His pager alerted the man to call an odd-looking number beginning with 1-900. He called, then sat through a long information message about health. Before he spoke with a live person, the line was automatically disconnected. Shaking his head, he hung up.

A few weeks later, he received a telephone bill for $35 with the 1-900 telephone number he had dialled earlier in the month beside the amount.

Scenario 2

The newspaper ad said to dial the 1-900 number splashed across the page in bright red print to win a trip to Mexico. "All you have to do is call!" It sounded simple enough.

The consumer decided to take the plunge. After all, what did he have to lose?

He dialed the number and waited patiently for the lengthy information message to end. But before he could speak with someone, the line was automatically disconnected. He hung up.

One month later, the man’s telephone bill showed a $50 charge for the 1-900 call he had placed.

CRTC Website about disputed Collect Calls

http://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/info_sht/t1001.htm

900/976 pay-per-call services The service
A 900 service enables customers to connect to phone numbers that start with 1-900 for pay-per-call services. Pay-per-call services include live and pre-recorded services such as adult chat lines, vote casting, psychic consultations, horoscopes, soap opera updates, games, donations processing, sports scores, weather forecasts, translation, and medical, legal or government services.

These services are offered by third parties called 900 content providers. 900 content providers pay the telephone companies to use their networks.

976 service is also a pay-per-call service, which is provided only by Bell Canada in Ontario and Quebec.

Rules for 900 and 976 services are not exactly the same. For example, provincial laws about what collection agencies aren't allowed to do are part of the 976 service rules but not the 900 service rules. Contact your telephone company for more information on the specific rules for the 900/976 services you use.

Consumer safeguards
Charges must be identified
All advertisements for 900/976 services must indicate the charges for making a call.

When you make a 900/976 call by phone or a 900 call via the Internet, you must receive clear and complete information on charges and when they will begin.

If you access a 900 service via the Internet, you must also be presented with an "I Agree" dialogue box or other way to clearly indicate your explicit consent to proceed with the call.

Billing information and practices
Some 900 services bill customers directly. Others bill customers through a telephone company or another third party. No matter who bills you, when you receive a bill for calls to a 900 service, it must fully describe all charges plus the time, date and length of each call.

All bills for 900 service must follow the same rules concerning safeguards and disclosure of information.

First-time waiver
900 content providers and telephone companies providing 900/976 services must waive all reasonably disputed charges for first-time disputes with their customers. Companies must also tell these customers about the call blocking feature that prevents calls being made from their phone to 900/976 services.

Blocking service
Telephone companies providing 900/976 service must offer the call-blocking feature for free the first time it's requested. After that, the company can charge $10 for any further requests to add or remove the feature.

Check with your telephone company for details about call blocking for 900/976 services.

Information for consumers
Telephone companies providing 900 services must include information about these services on their Web sites. Residential phone directories must also include a reference to 900/976 services, including a statement that consumers may contact their telephone service provider for more information about them.

The reference must also remind customers that:

900/976 calls are provided to customers for a charge
call blocking options are available
customers may dispute the charges
In addition, the CRTC reminds parents to caution their children not to call a 900 service without permission.

Other protections for 900 services customers
900 content providers can't link their 900 services to toll-free numbers. This prevents toll-free callers from being billed without being aware of the charges.
900 content providers can't use programs with repetitive scripts, long holding periods, excessive wording or long downloading features to prolong the call and increase charges.
CRTC regulations and rate caps reduce consumer risk
The CRTC has set maximum rates, charges and regulations to help reduce the risks for 900 callers:

the maximum rate for calls to psychic lines is $6 per minute
the maximum charge for games of chance is $5 per call
providers of games of chance must tell callers about any available alternate ways of playing the game that do not involve calling a 900 number
What if you don't agree you owe money for a 900/976 call?
First, contact the telephone company and 900/976 content provider to request that the charge be waived.

If you're not satisfied with the response, you can contact the CRTC. See How to make a complaint about your telephone service.

What if your phone company threatens to disconnect your local service for unpaid 900/976 service charges?
If your local telephone service provider is one of the original phone companies that existed prior to today's competitive market (e.g., Bell Aliant, Bell Canada, Sasktel, MTS Allstream and Telus), the following rules apply:

your local service can't be disconnected if you've paid for the part of your phone bill that covers local service, 911, call display and other calling features you may subscribe to
if you disagree with charges on your bill (for example, 900 services or Internet charges), follow the phone company's dispute procedure; but you must still pay the undisputed charges of the bill
the telephone company may limit your long-distance calls, or use other legal means to try to recover outstanding amounts, but they can't cut off your local service
Do telephone companies have to connect 900/976 services?
Upon request, telephone companies must connect a customer to their networks, according to their terms of service.

These companies must also monitor 900/976 content providers and cut off those that don't comply with all terms and conditions. Connection can also be denied to a 900/976 service provider if it has broken Canadian laws.

For more information on these services, contact your local telephone company directly.
