Crumbling shoes

Just ditched my 3rd pair of Clarks mules. I buy these shoes because I have a bad foot issue and can only wear mules with an open heel. I have learned a very expensive lesson, no more Clark’s for me. How they can continue to sell this junk is beyond me. There are numerous sites online with the same complaints about these shoes. If they know that the rubber breaks down then find another alternative material, that is what a reputable company would do. To have a policy that basically says “tough luck” is not a company I will give my business to. 30 percent coupon is nice but I think a company as big as Clark’s should be able to fix the problem and until then reimburse customers who keep walking around in shoes that can cause injury or even death. OUtrageous that there are this many cases of crumbling shoes and nothing has happened to change it.

Falling apart at the stitches

My Clarks clogs are hardly worn and the left shoe is falling apart at the stitches on both sides. I have always worn Clarks and never had this happen to me before. How can I get them replaced?

Clarks Shoes Total Disintegration

I grabbed a pair of dressy black Clark shoes this morning to wear to an award's ceremony. I slipped them on when I got to location and within just a few feet, I noticed the top leather upper was pulling apart from the sole, within a minute both shoes were falling apart and rubber sole was crumbling before my eyes. I had to return to my car bare foot and grab a pair of black running shoes. How can you sell something like this?

Sorry, no photo they were continuing to fall apart in my car, so I ditched them.

clarks shoe soles fall apart

I have many pairs of shoes. Have always enjoyed a large shoe collection. In the last 5 years, my Clark shoe soles hve been falling apart. Threw away 5 pairs in 2016 and 3 pairs so far in 2017. These shoes have been worn very few times. When the soles fall apart while wearing, it is very dangerous!!!! I will never buy Clark shoes again! It should be illegal to sell shoes that are so hazardous! We should all report this to our Senators and Congressmen.

Clarks shoes

I was thrilled to find shoes that fit me perfectly, and have bought several pairs which I love. I bought a pair of white sandals which I stored in box in air conditioned closet. After the first wearing the soles on both shoes split diagonally in about three places all the way through. Called and was very unsatisfied to hear that they were old and nothing could be done about them. I will never buy Clarks again and have been warning friends about them.

Soles disintegrated

I have a pair of Clarks sandals, that I only wear in the summer months. I got them out of the cupboard to wear in May and, as I was doing up the buckle, I noticed black dust and bits of rubber on the floor. When I checked the other sandal it had also split right across the sole. Both soles have now disintegrated completely and I am left with a perfect pair of uppers, but no soles. I have been told that if shoes are put away wet, the soles are prone to disintegrate, but have also been told that the soles dry out and fall away. Both statements cannot be correct! As I had only worn the sandals last year three or four times (the inner soles are barely marked by my feet), they have turned out to be an expensive purchase. Never again will I buy Clarks shoes, having been a loyal purchaser for the past 40+ years, buying Clarks shoes for my two daughters since their infancy.

Soles disintegrated

I bought a pair of Clark,s ladies sandals a couple of years ago. I have only worn them occasionally during the summer months. Put them on for the first time in May this year, when I noticed black dust and rubber on the floor. On looking closer, the sole on one had split right across and had fallen apart as I was doing up the buckle. when I checked the other sandal, bending it across the sole on the foot bed, it also cracked and fell apart. I now have a perfect pair of uppers and inner soles, but no soles to walk on!

Clarks shoes in the trash

I bought many Clarks shoes (12-15 pairs) several years ago when a favorite store had them on sale. I just got my stash of new/almost new Clarks sandals out last week. Yesterday I threw THREE pairs in the trash. One I'd worn last year; the other two were new. The soles of all of them disintegrated after I only wore them a couple of hours. My floors are littered with bits of black rubber. I still have 7-8 new pairs of Clarks sandals in my closet. After reading these dismal reviews, I'm guessing they are worthless--unless one considers wearing a shoe for three hours before it falls apart as having some value. Even on sale, I paid a lot of money for my shoes. I will NEVER buy a Clarks shoe again. There is no excuse for such shoddy workmanship/materials from a company that charges the prices I paid.

clarks shoes

I'm just so disappointed. In two weeks I've had 3 pairs of Clarks shoes fall apart at the seams. Two pairs were sandals, one pair of clogs. As everyone else here, I spent good money on these shoes. I see where they will only offer a 30% coupon on a future purchase. That's not good enough, especially when you consider the cost of their product.
Won't be buying Clarks again....

Have fallen down twice in one month

I bought a pair of Clarks shoes from QVC and noticed the first time I wore them that the rubber soles caught on hard wood floors and carpet. I have fallen down twice in the last month wearing the shoes from stopping short on carpet while wearing. Not to mention the embarrassment from falling in front of people in an executive position, I was bruised very badly on the palms of my hands, my knees and one hip, and experienced neck and arm pains. I will never put the shoes on again nor will I donate them to have someone else experience what I have gone through.

heel of shoe and the sole of my sandal disintegrated

As I was wearing my Clark's sandal, the sole suddenly disintegrated, couldn't believe it. Thought I must have stepped in something.

Just this week as I was getting ready to leave my home, the heel of my hardly worn Clark's shoe completely fell apart. What good is a shoe without the heel? This should never have happened.

I thought I was buying a quality shoe, obviously not. Reading the above messages, Clark offered a 30% of coupon to a person who had a similar experience. BIG DEAL. They should replace the shoe(s)

Clarks fell apart Only worn 2 times

Hydrolysis is the chemical breakdown of a compound due to reaction with water. Yet my response from Clarks stated my shoes were dried out and they called it hydrolysis. So I am confused, as Clarks is using hydrolysis as the reason for every failure of their shoes -- too much moister or dried out??? Which one is it??

Below is the response I received from Clarks when I told them my shoes fell apart. I am retired and have worn Clarks for years, but now I am scared to buy another pair of Clarks because my funds are limited and they state their shoes will not last if you don't wear them often or if they have too much moisture, or they dry out? My mules are going to be shelved for about 6 months out of the year, because who wears mules or sandles in the winter or when it rains?

Clarks stated:
Thank you for the requested information. We can absolutely tell that you have taken great care of your Clarks shoes. Your shoes are one of our older styles. Therefore, the issues you are experiencing with them are attributed to their age and an inevitable chemical process of rubber called hydrolysis. This means that over time rubber unfortunately dries out and disintegrates naturally, especially if they have not gotten much wear.

Since you are obviously a Clarks fan, as a token of our apology, I have attached to this email a 30% coupon for you to use on your next purchase online at Clarksusa.com. To redeem online, simply type the online code into the box labeled "PROMO CODE" and click the "APPLY" button at checkout.

We are grateful for your continued support of the Clarks family of products and look forward to hearing from you!

soles of shoes

Clarks uppers perfect, the apparently thick sole is really a thin layer of durable material covering a spongy material. Thin layer has worn out and now I'm walking on sponge, which will not last.

Heels Fall Apart

I've worn Clark's for years and never had a problem with the heels falling apart until a year ago. Now I'm almost afraid to leave the house in them. Like someone else mentioned below, in the last nine months, I've had THREE pairs fall apart on me--two pair I wore quite often, but my burgundy mules didn't get worn as much. While the other parts of the shoes looked almost brand new, the heels on my burgundy ones collapsed before I could get back home from work last Friday.

So, did the company change the composition of the heel material? If so, you/they might want to rethink that decision. You're losing lots of faithful customers. Look around. There is competition out there. We don't have to put up with shoddy workmanship.

Sadly, I will not buy Clark's again either.

clark shoes crumbling

I have many pairs of clark shoes and keep them in the original boxes. They are all falling apart. They literally fall apart when I walk in them. The soles are coming apart and I will not buy clarks again. I paid top dollar and thought if I took care of them they would last a long time. I am so wrong.
Clark Shoe Co.needs to do some explaining. I may take my 20 pairs of clarks and put a sign on them in front of Belks where is purchased most of them.

Quality has gone way down

I used to love Clark's and wore them daily as a teacher on my feet all day for over 20 years!

The last two years, I have had THREE different new pairs fall apart on me. The heels just denigrate.

This week I was wearing a pair I really liked and by the end of 2nd block class I started walking funny and couldn't figure out what was wrong. I looked down and one heel had completely smashed and pieces of black rubber were all over the floor. I had to walk on them the rest of the say with one heel in tact and the other completely flat and coming apart.

I will not buy Clark's again.

Everlay Elma

I recently bought a pair of Everlay Elma's size 11w, I do convention work and am on my feet 8 to 10 hours a day and a friend recommended these shoes to me, I bought them wore then 2 days, on the 2nd day the shoes (left one) the stitching was actually coming apart, I couldn't believe it, I had bought the shoes via Ebay new in the box and wrapped up spent $80 on them, and to have them only last 2 days OMG !!, that is so sad, the quality of these shoes are terrible, I have no recourse as Clarks will not help me even though I have the box and packing from them, nor will the seller on ebay, who sells many Clarks, all new shoes.
Definitely not a repeat !!, I'm terribly disappointed in the quality of the shoes, .. and the lack of Clark for not standing up to back their own product.

Ckarks heel is coming apart!!

Yes I have a part of Clarks #71400. I paid $65 for these at Belk.
I of course do not wear them all the time. My soles are not even scuffed up bad. They are open toe so I only wear in the summer with my semi dress casual outfits.
I noticed while vacuuming and dusting my closet these black rubber pieces. I discovered it was coming from my Clarks shoes. I took them down off my closet shelf to see they are falling apart at the heels!!!!
I need an explantation for this manufacture defect.
Thank you

Shoes coming apart at the stitching

3rd pair of Clarks shoes that have literally "came apart at the seams", 2 of which happened while I was actually walking in them!!! The 3rd pair, I just got out of my closet last week to wear, and when I put my foot into the "slip ins", they instantly fell apart...so disappointed. The first 2 pairs was replaced w/ out any questions, but after reading other post, sounds if they are not standing behind their products any longer. If this proves to be true concerning my 3rd pair, I will never buy Clark brand any longer. A business worthy of their shoppers interest SHOULD ALWAYS stand behind their products!! Photos on my cell phone if needed for replacement.
