Class action suit against Walden University

I am also a seven year Ed.D. student who is at the proposal stage which I completed and revised 5 times. I even had other Ph.D 's reviewing my work. I'm paying $5400.00 a semester to sit around and wait, I'm was given recommended changes and when I complete them I'm given more changes to be made. I've revealed on several opportunities their lack of guidance, direction and support and their mistakes, yet I'm still sitting here waiting. I want and will join the class action suit against Walden. No one should be subject to this type of treatment.

Walden University

I enrolled in a doctorate program at Walden University in 2011 and I am still working with my chair to revise and edit my project study. Each semester, I may have two to three opportunities to receive feedback from him. According to the project study guide, the committee members have 14 days to provide feedback. My chair takes all 14 days to provide feedback and the feedback is inconsistent. I contacted the advisory team and was told it often takes multiple years to complete the project study. However, when being recruited, I was told it was a 3-year program (most students complete in 3 years). Even after contacting the program director, little has changed, with the exception of upsetting the committee members. I think I was misled.

Walden University Purposely Prolonges Degree Programs

I have many of the same complaints listed below. I enjoyed my coursework at Walden with a high grade point average. However, after almost 2 years my proposal still is incomplete. My committee chair gives pitiful feedback, and I usually have to request it be sent back after 14 days. When I raised concerns, nothing was done. It is unacceptable to be spending $20,000 a year for an advanced degree when staff are not fit for helping students succeed!

Unresponsive Faculty and Administration

I was enrolled in Walden for two semesters. Despite have been very successful in traditional graduate programs, I was unable to get my initial proposal approved, but never received clear rationale for the rejection. It took my first "mentor" 6 weeks to respond to me and when he finally did his communication skills were so circular that I could not understand what he was saying. I asked for a transfer. Several months later I was assigned a new adviser, but this one was no more responsive than the first. So - I paid for two semesters through student loans that were completely useless. I made numerous efforts with the administration to resolve this issue, with no success whatsoever. I've had this loan on my back for 20 years. Walden's promises are fraudulent.

Financial Aid from Walden University

A part of my financial aid has been held back this semester without any foreseen cause. I have been waiting on this money to come in, but it has now been almost a month since my classes started and I still have not received a valid reason on why the larger part of my financial aid has not been processed. What has been processed, was just slightly under what I owed the school this semester for the term. The remainder was supposed to be refunded to me, but that has not happened. As a full time grad student, I am putting all my effort and time into graduating so I am not working at the moment, therefore money is a necessity, not a luxury. My anxiety level is through the roof. How am I supposed to concentrate on my courses when I don't even have food in my fridge? The worst part is that they don't even have an answer as to why it hasn't been released. Every time I call, "they are looking into it." Now, after reading these other posts, I am also worried that when I complete my program, it may be worthless if this school is not accredited as they stated they were. We need a class action law suit against Walden University.

Walden Faculties abuse PhD students

Walden faculties keep me for 12 Quarters in PPPA-9000 which I have passed satisfactorily every quarter. The university abuses students who are paying out of pocket because they don't have to report any financial gain to the Department of Education. They take pride in keeping students just to make more money out of them.
I have a serious case against them. I would like to be part of the current class action. I am planning to register a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education against Walden.
All supporting document are ready. I have sent a last communication to them complaining about their injustice.
As soon as I have a reply I will be looking for justice.
Please let me know who I can contact to add my name.

Walden University

I would like to join a class action lawsuit. I had to take time off due to health issues. I have used all student loans so asked if there was a discount for senior citizens and if I could get help because of my health, chronic myeloid leukemia. I received an email wishing me luck with health issues and there were no senior citizen discount as any help given to me would be unfair to other students. Seriously??
I was writing chapter 1 and 2 and have paid thousands and thousands of dollars.

Prolonged process for completing Ed.D program

I am a 7 year Ed.D student at Walden University. I started this program in May 2009. I failed my first class because I did not know how to work in an online environment and the instructor never reached out to me via email, or the telephone to inquire about my lack of participation. I thought that I was successfully completing the class assignments. I took the class over and passed it with an "A". I have been at level 2 of the 5 part Ed.D program since January 2012. I completed the required course work in December 2011. I passed every class, I have rewritten my doctoral proposal 23 times, the URR has not pass the proposal onto the IRB so I can start my qualitative phenomenological transcendental research study. I am registering a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights today. I would also like to be a part of the class action suit other Walden students have filed with this agency.

Walden no accreditation

I completed my MS in psychology after much turmoil. I first enrolled in the MS Mental Health program and completed all coursework. Then I switched to Clinical Psychology and completed all coursework. I could find no facilities in which to do my practicum that met the Walden standards. Walden advisors would not help me at all. I called the Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board to see if they could offer me some advice on where to do my practicum. I was informed by the Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board that they do not recognize Walden as an accredited school and I will NEVER be able to get a license to practice with my degree. I then switched to the MS in Psychology with an Ed Psych. specialty. I recently sent my transcripts to a local major university to see what additional courses I would need to take in order to be a school counselor. The reply was Walden is not recognized as a valid school therefore I would need to take the entire program. So, here I sit with over $100,000 in student loans and a degree I will NEVER be able to use.

There are so many of us in the same boat. We got cheated out of years of our lives, staying up late, not attending family functions so we could study or write a paper, etc. Most of all we were cheated out of large sums of money and a chance to pursue the career of our choosing. I will never be able to go back to college and become a school counselor or a mental health counselor. I attended Walden in good faith truly believing that in the end I would be able to help others. Walden spouts "social change". How will any of us ever be able to bring about social change when we can do nothing with our fake degrees?

Who do we contact for legal advice?

Accreditation SCAM

1. Was told when I initially entered Walden in 2007 that the APA accreditation was going to happen, 3 semesters later while sitting at a residency in Virginia with over s hundred other students that the APA accreditation wasn't going to happen, try to get liscensed in New York State without the APA accreditation, a $85,000 piece of paper with Dr B. On it, worthless.

2. Once I realized the scam, I dropped 2 courses spring semester, emails validating the dropping of the classes, Walden never withdrew me from the classes and I ended up with 2 F's and a larger bill, which at the time was $25,000, today it totals over $55,000.

Ripped off by Walden

Let's make Walden the next Corinthian. Please contact me at Ken [email protected]. It is time to make Walden pay. I also was a student at Walden, accrued massive financial debt to obtain a degree that stalled once I hit the URR process.

Walden DNP student

I completed my MSN through Walden and was very satisfied with that degree. I decided in 2012 to go back and get my DNP. I have completed all of my academic classes and have been working on my project for over a year. It sounds like many of you are in the same boat, I have to enroll in a 3 credit course each semester I am not done. I get little to no feedback, or I am told to rewrite the whole thing which I did and turned in. In May I received an email telling me that my "committee members had changed as well as my chair person." I have been working with my new chair person since then and really felt I was making some advances. This week I sent an email to her asking to review my updated project, and she emailed me back stating that "she is not my chair person."
I will not recommend this program to any other nurse. A co-worker started a year after I did at the University of Maryland and just graduated in December, I should have listened to her and went the traditional route where I would have had support and face to face conversations. I am really tired of the dangling carrot -- I just want my degree and no more school loans. (Which is obscenely high).
I would appreciate any help, and would love to join the class action suit.

Thank you,

LITTERLY IN TEARS!!!

I am was a student at Walden Online, which like others, in a HUGE AMOUNT OF DEBT!!! I was a 3.83 average and made it all the way to the practicum and was totally kicked out of Walden because no one actually wanted to deal with an intern being able to literally practice counseling actual clients! I could not locate simply because most of the centers in my state ONLY REQUIRE SOMEONE WHO IS LICENSED TO COUNSEL CLIENTS, WHICH IS PRIMARILY DURING THE INTERNSHIP NOT THE PRACTICUM!!!

I will say that God will have JUSTICE for EVERYONE who have ever been wronged by this university! My good name has almost been ruined, not to mention the years that I have tried to complete my degree!

I believe that something will be done for all of us going through this turmoil!

Starbucks coffee Chain helped Ivy Bridge College of Tiffin Unviersity Sold 1,000 students Fake Degrees

In 2008, I enrolled to Tiffin University's online college program for my Associates Degree, Ivy Bridge College of Tiffin University. I recieved my Associates, Bachelors, and was short three classes of graduating with my Masters in 2013 when Tiffin University's Accrediting Agency, The Higher Learning Commission, submitted their official Staff Summary Report to the Department of Justice, to shut down Ivy Bridge College for their illegal joint venture with Tiffin University. The Ivy Bridge College program was found to be non accredited, and The Department of Justice released their online investigation of the school, determining that Tiffin University's online college was fraudulent, and guilty of Consumer Fraud (selling over 1,000 students fake degrees), deceptive marketing practices and enrollment, Financial Aid Fraud, Privacy Invasion, and more.

The students are all in debt and unable to work with our degrees. We are now banning together to seek justice for our non accredited degrees. News outlets such as The Chronicle, The Washington Examiner, The Blade, Forbes Magazine online, and more have written articles and interviewed some students regarding this. Billionaire Investors Maveron, Charles Rivers Ventures, and Spark Capital knowingly invested in this program and are equally liable for the damages accrued by the victims of Ivy Bridge College.

These Billionaire investors own TUMBLR, TWITTER, STARBUCKS, SEATTLE'S BEST COFFEE, PINKBERRY, AND MORE!

We, the students, are requesting the participants of this scheme be held legally accountable, via another invesitgation and legal penalties. Many of us have become homeless, severely in debt, depressed, with our lives completely ruined because of what these greedy Billionaires did to us. Ivy Bridge College students also need an attorney and are looking to be interviewed again so shed light on America's White Collar Fraud Epidemic.

Walden University

I was in a PHD public health program for 4 years and completed all but three classes and took a leave of absence with a sick parent and when I returned they had totally revamped the program and I was told that I needed to start the program over. This was after almost $60,000 in student loans.

Got out but want my money back

I obtained my Ed.S from Walden, which they told me had to be done before the Ed.D. Then enrolled in another program for my Ed.D, boy wish I had not. I got all through the Ed.S portion of that program (which my coworker was doing for her Ed.s) and then hear about this law suit. Why was I taking classes that an Ed.S student was with no extra work required, but yet I had to do that before the Ed.D with my first go round? After hearing of this suit I dropped the Ed.d and transferred into the Ed.S and completed the capstone and all major assessment. However they are now in two portfolios and they rejected my graduation with the Ed.S degree because they only looked at that portfolio and not the previous coursework for the Ed.D program I was in. Academic Advising told me back in November the graduation team would review all portfolios. So no Ed.D and now no Ed.S after 113K in debt and the first Ed.S is basically useless. I want the last two years of student loans back at least, although their tactics should be criminal and all debt repaid! Get out, warn others, I know others are still enrolled in this scam.

Walden University

I enrolled in Walden's PhD program after participating in an open house type of event being held in Charleston, South Carolina. I excitedly enrolled in the program that I wanted. After completing 3/4 of the program, a Walden representative called me at my house and told me that my particular licensure program was not accepted in the state of South Carolina and basically I would have to change programs. I asked for this in writing and was told that it was a "sensitive" matter and that there was another student in SC that had the same problem. I have copies of all the email exchanges after that conversation with that particular lead professor. I eventually changed program, but it was not what I wanted. I attended the residencies, but the staff was hesitant about talking to me about my problems with the PhD program and I received no help, even after completing all of the required courses.

Doctoral program cant finish

I am stuck with having one mandatory class to take and they only have one professes or for this class The instructor failed me I filed every petition and gave full documentation but all were seined the real problem is that they want me to take the same class same syllabus from the same teacher I feel he was rasict and had a problem with me for not having taken the resdency due to lake of funds he systmactly made sure I did not pass I was only .something away points away from a 70 the grade point was 69. This teacher took off points for anything he could find as well as when it said I exceeded the expection of the ariteria he still did not give me all the points also he did not expalian or document his reason on the comment section but when I brooght it up he said there were grammer errors and it was his desicsion wether or not to give me all the points, The professor also took points from me becasue he said he reformated my paper and it wasnt long engouh after refomationg but he never showed or posted the reformatted paper. Secondly I used the example in the syllabubs for my formatting to make sure I had formatted it properly. The main issue for me is paying and taking the same class from the same teacher who failed me and we have a disagreement there is no way he will be able to grade my work fairly and I not trying to waste more money for this teacher to fail me again this school is very unethical and needs to be shut down I am sending all my info to all educational out let a school that big that doesn't have another teacher for a mandatory class is not right they may just be lying . I cant finish my Doctor without this class

Unable to complete MSN-FNP Program

I am very interested in legal advice and possible action against Walden University. I have 3 clinical courses remaining to complete my MSN-FNP (Master's of Science in Nursing - Family Nurse Practitioner) degree. However, after personal expenses exceeding $60,000 to reach this point in the degree program, I am unable to complete these courses because I am being given the run-around by the Walden Field Experience Office, who is in charge of administrating items necessary to enroll in these courses. I contacted the Academic Advising Office who replied, "there is nothing our office can do to help you". I am out thousands of dollars, 2 years of invested time in completing course work, and have no possibility of transferring completed work into a comparable program. Basically I am unable to complete the MSN-FNP degree because of the Walden staff incompetence and varied versions of what it is Walden needs from me to do so. Deadline after deadline have gone by, and I am still no closer towards that goal despite many phone calls, Emails, and attempts to progress towards degree completion.

Class Action Lawsuit Against Walden University-Yes

I enrolled in Walden University in 2009 with the intention completing my Ed.D degree within the allocated time specified within the program advertisement, as I was already employed as a college dean in the education department. I completed the course work with and excellent grade point average and in a timely manner. I immediately filed my proposal for approval. This is when the play on papers begun. The first paper needed only minor corrections. I would make the minor corrections and the paper would be returned correcting the corrections that the URR ask me to correct. This went on for approximately 3 years and an program that was advertised to cost $35,000 turned into costing $97,000. The cost became so overwhelming on my finances and student loans that I could no longer afford to continue. Therefore, I am paying high student loans without a degree.

I would like to join the lawsuit against Walden University for unnecessary prolonging of my doctoral degree, lack of guidance and responsiveness to students. I feel that I completed my obligation to the university even after struggling with the death of my mother and three brother in the same year, I persevered. But, Walden has failed me in many ways and now I am saddled with a huge debt without any positive results. I feel that I have been swindled.

PhD holdup Walden University

Working on PhD for years, kept having to rewrite, get approval, then told to rewrite what was all ready approved a few versions back. Finally, after a year with one advisor and approval, I was told by a new member I would have to start over again because it wasn't a PhD type of study. Now, I'm continuing the process and $250,000 in debt which I will never get back in promotions, etc.
They say it costs $43,000 to get the PhD which is a lie. It also takes a long time to get 4 residencies and all of the credits needed THEN years more for the rest of it.
Nightmarish. Was a great school until the PhD itself began, then horrible and a rip off. Biggest mistake of my life, time and money lost with no gain. Need to finish it now, I'm stuck and cannot transfer and have to just play the waiting game registering for one 6 credit class each semester until I'm done. (6 credits is a lot of money)
Hope this helps someone.
