3 month old Elite frig DEAD

Our Kenmore Elite Refrigerator died after 3 months, 1 week on August 23, 2018. We called the repair number and were told that there were no available appointments for a repairman and we would have to wait 72 hours to get a call back. After calling the next day, were told that they would get back to us within an hour. No call. We did get an email that told us our service was scheduled for 13 days later.
It sounds like we will have to pay the service man anyway. Two weeks waiting for service is unacceptable. If there is a class action suit against Sears, count me I only wish I had seen this long list of complaints before buying my frig at Sears.

Kenmore Elite

I too bought a Kenmore Elite remembering the reputation for quality Kenmore once had. Our refrigerator is less than three years old. It stopped producing cold air. After a 9 day wait for a Sears service appointment, the technician said the compressor was bad. It would take another 14 days for the parts to arrive and to schedule the replacement. Finally the compressor was replaced. Three days later, the refrigerator stopped producing cold air again. This time, a technician came within a day. Our Kenmore Elite has an internal leak that cannot be fixed. Thank goodness we went to RentACenter and rented a refrigerator. If you plan on purchasing a Kenmore Elite, I suggest becoming familiar with your local RentACenter. You will soon need a temporary frig until yours is either fixed or replaced.

Poor Quality Elite Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

Seems like there this a common theme with the Freezer Compressor and Refrigerator Compressor parts going out after a year with the other one going out aft two-three years. I purchased the Elite Bottom Freezer in June 2015. Less than a year the Freezer Compressor went out that created a huge amount of ice that collected in the back of freezer and within the Freezer compartment. In July 2018, the top refrigerator compressor went out and needed to be replaced. Ice appeared at the bottom of the drawer. Another $575 spent. This time I selected a LG service provided as Sears would not replace the compressor at am economical cost.

The other complaint I have is the extreme poor quality of the stainless steel on both compartments. I've tried everything from Kenmore Creme Stainless polish and spray and practically every other cleaner on the market. Stains come back within a day; water marks, uneven surface marks that seems to come from the cold of the freezer, striations that don't go away . It takes me forever to polish up the stainless which makes me want to go back to white appliances.

I figured after paying $2,500 for an Elite, that I would enjoy the refrigerator everyday, but it's been a thorn in my side and I would not give it way to my worse enemy.

Kenmore Elite Refrigerator

Kenmore Elite 33 cu ft. French Door Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator (Model 72099) was purchased May, 2013. (5 years old now) Recently large blocks of ice were forming inside the freezer compartment. Repair company said the door gasket needed to be replaced. The refrigerator is black. But Sears (LG) no longer makes the gasket in black - just grey or white. The problem is the gasket is visible on both sides when the door is closed so the freezer compartment looks like an oreo cookie - chocolate cookie with cream center. Not exactly the look we purchased at a cost of almost $3k. Love the refrigerator, but we purchased black because we wanted black. Not black and grey. Can't count on Sears anymore.

Looks like I'm the next victim. My Kenmore Elite is
apparently made by LG which if I had known when I purchased I wouldn't have bought in the first place and now less than three years later I have a fridge that doesn't work. Just to add insult to injury the repair guy won't even work on LG. Hmm interesting. Guess they treat the repair guys like they do unsuspecting customers

Kenmore Elite Refrigerator Compressor Failure

Well, add me to the list on a 2 year old Kenmore Elite Refrigerator compressor failure. I've been a loyal customer of Sears appliances for many, many years. Sears had someone come out 2 days after we called. Serviceman was very nice. Ordered the compressor which we received in 5 days. Sears automation called and advised that someone would be out to the house on 8/10/18 between 1 and 5 (twice they called). Yesterday evening at 5:20 I called the service department to advise no one has shown up nor did anyone call. I was advised that unfortunately my service call didn't wind up on a service tech's calendar so they wouldn't be able to come out until 8/15/18 to replace the compressor. I was told that there is nothing that they could do. I then spoke to the manager after being on hold for quite some time. He appeared to be reading from a script and there wasn't anything he could do either except put me on a list as an emergency. I someone cancelled, then they would send someone out sooner. I then decided to go to the Sears store where I purchased my refrigerator. I spoke with the application department manager who was very helpful and was going to escalate the situation. There wasn't much more he could do from his end. Apparently there are issues with the LG compressors and Sears outsources their service. STAY AWAY FROM SEARS PRODUCTS!! There service and products are no longer what they used to be. I've bought Sears appliances for over 35 years and I will NEVER buy another product from them again after this experience.

Kenmore Elite French Door Refrigerator

I purchased my Kenmore Elite refrigerator in July 2014. I had purchased other refrigerators from Sears in the past, and always appreciated the quality of their products until now. My refrigerator stop cooling in April. Since that time, a plethora of technicians and parts have been ordered for the refrigerator. Only July 9, 2018, a compressor was installed. The refrigerator cooled for one hour and suddenly stopped. As a result, I have been without a refrigerator since April. Currently, I am home recuperating from surgery last month. I have inundated customer service with calls concerning this matter. I have also contacted LG. LG is waiting for Sears to input what services were provided, so that they are able to proceed. On July 14, 2018, I explained my plight to a respectable customer service gentleman at Sears. He input the information I conveyed to him that LG requested. The information was input while we were on the phone. He assured me that Nakita-Case Manager would be handling my files. Approximately two weeks after having surgery, I was feeling well enough to follow up concerning my plight. I contacted Sears Thursday, July 2, 2018. The customer service agent informed that they were searching for my information, and someone would call me later that night. As one would guess, I did not receive a call from anyone. Friday, July 3, 2018, I contacted Sears again. A customer service rep by the name of Alejandro took the call. Once again I explained to him the situation I have been experiencing. He placed me on hold for awhile. Upon returning, he claimed that none of the information was contained in my file. The only thing they are willing to do is compensate me with $500.00 to purchase another refrigerator. I refuse to accept that nominal amount considering the cost of over $2000.00 for the refrigerator. I am tired of going through this hassle and plan to seek further action against Sears and LG.

90% of the complaints read exactly my problem. My Elite French door broke down after 2years. Then it was 2 weeks for a tech to come out. 2 weeks to order the parts. Two weeks for the tech to come out to install the parts. It broke down that night. 2 tweets for a tech to come out,2 weeks to order the parts. Now 3 weeks before the tech can come out to install it.
I have tried to keep things cold with dry ice and ice packs. (Which means I have had a $3000 ice box). Then after losing food, I bought a refrigerator to keep in the garage until the repair. We have been without a working refer for 2 months now. If I attach a chain to it, I would have a very expensive anchor.
It's no use to call or text customer service. You get shuffled around, never to speak to a supervisor or you are out sourced to Bombay or Manila! I frustrated and feel helpless. Sears is bad news!!

Kenmore Elite Bottom Refrigerator

After 3 years of buying this expensive refrigerator, the compressor died. I came home to a puddle of water and the inside of the refrigerator at room temperature. We called July 18th and the soonest appointment we could get was Aug 2. Thats two weeks without a fridge and hundreds of dollars worth of food gone! They said we can possibly get an earlier appointment if there was a cancellation but the only way to know is to call them to find out. So if my timing wasn't precise, it would go to someone else, which is whoever was on the phone I would think that a better way to do business with people who purchased a $2500 refrigerator (that the salesperson pushed on us btw because of its high quality and 10 year warranty) would be notify them instead of making them follow up. I am infuriated with Sears by the lack of service and lack of desire to make it right. Its just not right. How are they still in business? From reading all the complaints from people who have gone through the same exact thing, how are these people still in business? More shocking is how are they getting away with. Sears sold us a lemon, refuse to put any effort in providing a better solution and is making us pay out of pocket for labor. This cant be right. There needs to be a lawsuit!

Kenmore Elite Refrigerator

We have had this Kenmore Elite frog for under 2 years and every 30-60 min or so without fail, there is a loud sound from the compressor and a loud pop. I called called service and after they tried to up sell me on extended warranty for the 6th time asked to speak with manager as I just wanted a tech to come to house to fix it. So after agreeing to the $89 service call, tech was scheduled for following week. He came out and said he wouldn’t be able to fix unless he heard the noise - he said he couldn’t really sit there for an hour so asked me to record the noise. He advised the LG frig’s are junk! No kidding. He left and didn’t charge me - I think he felt sorry for us owners. So what do I do now? Horrible.

Kenmore Elite Bottom Regrigerator

After 3 years of purchasing from Sears, the the compression broke. We have lost hundreds and hundreds of dollars worth of food. We have a scheduled appt for Aug 2 which we made two weeks ago. I am so scared that this is not going to be resolved on Thursday. We cannot afford a new fridge. Sears is no help at all and this warranty seems useless.

Kenmore Elite French door Refrigerator

Bought this refrigerator in summer 2015 for $3,000 died March 2028. It is now the end of July 2018 and after six service appointments with sears tech service it is still not doing its job, neither cooling nor freezing.
What a scam from sears and LG to put such products into the market place.
It has been a very frustrating experience.
There was a defective refrigerator class action against LG, but the court dismissed the claim.
What a slap in the face of consumers.

Kenmore elite French doors / bottom freezer

After 3 years the COMPRESSOR DIED .. called service dept.
Serviceman who comes to evaluate problem , tells us “ many problems
with this refrigerator, don’t put any money into it , get a new one “
This refrigerator cost $ 2300 ..
We were appalled , had to get it fixed ( hot summer in Florida )
And leaving on vacation next day.
$ 500 dollars to replace compressor on a 3 year old refrig .
Is there a class action suit in progress ?

Sears Kenmore Elite Model #74027

Bought this fridge in Aug 2017 and it has gone out 2 times already. My husband was able to fix it the first time when the ice maker stopped making ice. The 2nd time, the unit stopped cooling and I came home to a big puddle of water. I called Sears and they told me it would be a whole week until someone would be able to come out and look at it. In the meantime, we will have food loss. This is ridiculous. A company so big as Sears and they don't have an emergency repair department? I spoke to 5 or 6 different people and of course no one was of any help. Completely disappointed and upset with the service of Sears. Why hasn't this been recalled if it's a known issue? SEARS STINKS!!!!

Kemore Elite

We purchased our Kenmore Elite may 2016. We paid $2800 for it. It lasted exactly 2year and 1 month. RIGHT THIS VERY MINUTE Sears offered TO COME NEXT WEEK no help. We have always trusted sears and have purchased many appliances from them. They were not even nice. They know that the refrigerator is junk, yet continue to sell. I wish I had seen this board before I bought mine I don't know how to get the word out I had no idea. I will urge everyone that I know to stay away from Sears. If I wasn't 70 years old I would go and stand outside the store and tell everyone what had happened after reading this board I think I should go to my lawyer. I am a diabetic and I guess we bether go buy a new refrigerator cause it looks like I'm not going to get any help. I will put this up on Facebook and where ever else I can think of.

kenmore elite

I purchased mine august 2016. they replaced the entire door containing the ice maker in april 2017 after multiple attempts to fix it which meant many days and time off work to wait for repairman. last night I lost everything in frig and freezer. more than $600 worth of food. when I called Kenmore they put me in for an emergency apt---first available is august 9. how is that even possible to expect someone to live without a refrigerator for a month???? and I have to pay $90 for a service call plus repairs. this refrigerator was $2200 and doesn't last 2 years?? how do they get away with that?? why are we as consumers allowing this? is there anyone that can advise what we can do? please help. where are the consumer advocates

Sears Kenmore Elite Refrigator

I purchased a Kenmore Elite refrigerator in November of 2015. The compressor went out in October of 2017. We were left with over $300 worth of spoiled food that we were never compensated for, even though the extended warranty claims to cover lost food. It is now July 2018 and the refrigerator has gone out again! It's been 9 days since we called to put in a claim to have the refrigerator repaired and they have not sent out a tech who can diagnose the issue. We are now dealing with another refrigerator full of spoiled food! In talking with the tech who came in 2017, he said that the Kenmore Elite refrigerators have had many issues with the compressors failing and that Kenmore and LG are aware of it! I've never paid as much for a refrigerator as I did for this one and I've never had any issues with any other refrigerator that I have ever owned but this one! THIS THING IS A LEMON! Kenmore/LG are aware of it and they need to replace these units!

Very Poor Engineering

This Kenmore Elite Refrigerator is the absolute worst thing I have ever purchased. It had a service call less than 30 days after purchase and it has been a non-stop problem ever since. We have lost all our food in the thing at least three times. We paid a lot of money for it, ended up buying the extended warranty, and we have it repaired at least once a year including ice maker, ice maker fan, control board, two stage compressor, second control board, second ice maker fan, etc. We are about 3.5 years into the thing now, it has just gone into yet another error code and we did not renew the $378 annual warranty. I will NOT return to Sears to purchase an appliance, that is for certain. This refrigerator should have been replaced long ago after all the service calls. Also will not consider an LG appliance (this model is made by LG). Hoping that we can thaw the thing out and get the error code off of it and maybe get another year out of it. Both my wife and I have had surgeries in the last year and there is no way we can easily replace this thing at this time. We are so sorry we ever bought it and feel completely ripped off by Sears.

June 25, 2018 it stopped working ( less than 18 months), I lost everything in it. I phoned Sears and found out that it was no longer under warranty and I will have to pay full price

Sales clerk at Sears in Rancho Cucamonga, CA on Friday June 29 2018 around 6:45 p.m. – “she told me that KENMORE does not make refrigerators to last, that is why you have to buy the extended warranty which cost $499.99 and keep it current for any future problems. NOTE.. it only covers 25% cost of parts.
I was also told by her that Kenmore is not a Sears Brand. Funny when I look up Kenmore all phone numbers lead to SEARS

November 2016 I purchased a Kenmore Elite 795.74093.411 / Seri # 607R00046 Bottom Freezer Refrigerator. today it stopped keeping my food cool and I lost everything in it because it was not keeping the food cool enough. I phoned Sears today and found out that it was no longer under warranty and I will have to pay full price so I went on line and looked at the reviews (which i should have done before I purchased it) This refrigerator at best is a 2 star with 85% giving it a 1 star Consumer Report - out of 54 reviews - 38 are 1 Star Sears - out of 55 reviews - 37 are 1 Star Amazon has 2 reviews- 1st is out of 3 - 3 are 1 star / 2nd review is 2.5 out of 5 stars with a 67% i star rating. All complaints that is the same as mine refrigerator stopped cooling and the ones with the warranty still had to pay because the warranty did not fully cover that problem, not only that but they had to have it repaired several times in a short period of time and be without a fridge for long period between repair appointments. I have had this fridge for less than 2 years and today I lost everything inside in which I will have to replace and have the expense of my whole family eating out until I get another one. You know this is a very serious matter WHY did you not pull this out of the market?? All my appliances are Sears. Is this how you treat your loyal customer now? I would like a refund or another model of equal value that will work and not break down in less than 2 years.

LG Refrigerator Compressor Failure

Will only cover parts but backlog of repair parts have had us waiting, currently 14 days. Lost $590 of food and will have close to $1,000 in repairs (excessive heat from from failed compressor damaged the main circuit board which also needed to be replaced). ALSO . . Cannot assure me replacement compressor has had defect re-engineered so as not to fail in the future.

Kenmore elite french door refrigerater is a waste of money!

We purchased our Kenmore elite refrigerator after the problems we experienced with our 1 month old GE refrigerator. We got the GE from Sears as well. We paid $2800 for it. It lasted exactly 1 year and 1 month. Sears offered no help. We have always trusted sears and have purchased many appliances from them. They were not even cordial. They know that the refrigerator is junk, yet continue to sell them. My in laws bought one also. So far theirs is ok. I urge everyone that I know to stay away from Sears. Their products are not reliable anymore. There are so many complaints concerning the same identical problem, there should be some consumer action initiated. We ended up purchasing a whirlpool from Lowe's. We do not like it (its very noisy) but at least it runs.

Sears' monopoly on Kenmore distribution with awful customer services and compressors available within the next 2months for repair. A brand new Kenmore Elite fridge costing +$2,000 suddenly stop working cause a malfunction of the compressor, which will cost almost $700, one-third of the total cost. I've seen so many similar entries about something that I call "manufacturing defect" which should be somehow compensated or replaced at no cost. Anybody wants to work together and file a lawsuit against Sears and/or Kenmore ? This is obviously a hidden fraud: you buy the refrigerator and within the next 2-3 years you have to spend additional money in pieces and technical service. Sears is the only certified tech support company for Kenmore. Please write me to luis.garma@iese.net if you think we can file a lawsuit against Sears/Kenmore for bad practices. Thanks !
