Kenmore elite 74023

Had to replace all kitchen appliances due to hurricane sandy. Spent thousands on washer, dryer, oven, refrigerator and dish washer.
We were put through a lot due to the storm but installing appliances was a great accomplishment as House was almost done. Brand new appliances should last 10+ years. We paid $2300.00 for this piece of crap refrigerator that worked for approximately 8 months, 8 MONTHS! It slowly started to not stay cold until one weekend, that was it. It was done. We used this PIECE OF CRAP REFRIGERATOR FOR 8 MONTHS!! My husband is handy so he researched a bought some parts and nothing worked. We had no choice but to move it to the garage and buy another refrigerator. Sears was NO HELP AT ALL! I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER KENMORE PRODUCT!

Refridgerator Nightmare Me Too!!!

Worst refrigerator ever!! Thought I was buying a real honest to goodness Kenmore product. Good old reliable Sears. That's a joke. It's an LG product with a Kenmore sticker on it. Purchased in Oct 2015 from Sears. Have had nothing but problems. The ice maker failed within a month the replacement part they sent the tech said was a rebuilt one, but we had no choice bc we had already waited a month!!!Had a technician out at least 4 times for various problems. Warranty expired this June 2018.
Ice maker quit again!!! Freezer not working Fridge Wasn't cooling very well on this service call.Technician checks it out. It has a freon leak very corroded Needs a new compressor, electrical board and filter dryer. Trashing it!

Kenmore Elite Refrigerator

Worst refrigerator ever!! Thought I was buying a real honest to goodness Kenmore product. Good old reliable Sears. That's a joke. It's an LG product with a Kenmore sticker on it. Purchased in 2015. Have had nothing but problems. Had a technician out at least 6 times for various problems. Warranty expires this June 2018. Wasn't cooling very well on this service call. Technician checks it out today, 2/19/18. Needs a new compressor, electrical board and filter dryer. Might be a month before I get the parts. Thank goodness I called before the warranty expired. Guess next time something fails my warranty will be expired and I'll just take it to the garbage dump. Decided to Google on this refrigerator and read lots of reviews, just today, on how many consumers have had problems with the Kenmore Elite compressor going bad and other multiple problems. As a matter of fact, the technician was going to his next call with the same exact model refrigerator I have and the same cooling problem. Technician stated he had replaced a lot of compressors in these refrigerators. LG needs to ante up and be responsible for all repairs and labor for their defective compressors, regardless of warranty or not. I will never make another purchase without checking out what consumers have to say about a product. Oh, and by the way, I think Consumer Reports gave this refrigerator high ratings back when I purchased it, as I am a subscriber to their magazine. Well, not good enough. Let one of them actually purchase one and put it in their house and lets see what happens in a month, 6 months or 1 year and see how they feel about the refrigerator then!!! Just wish me luck that it will last a while longer after repairs. And maybe I'll have enough time to save up money to purchase something else.

Kenmore elite bottom freezer piece of junk

I too have purchased a Kenmore Elite bottom freezer ( piece of junk ) in July of 2016 ,The compressor made by LG

Water from the ice maker all over the floor and temps in freezer and fridge rising . I called Sears and they said the first avaliable date

for service was FEB.O6 then they tried to sell me a warranty plan.Never will I buy another thing from Sears !

Jan 24 called a local repair service who came and said

this is ! 1/2 year old fridge and is under warranty . Sears should fix it ! I then called local Sears store and told my story of first available

appointment being three weeks away.

The lady put me on hold and said she had contacted the emergency repair and they would call me in two to four hours ! No one

called . I called back the next day and they said Sears repair man would be here on Jan. 26th. He came and said it was the compressor and

dryer (that were under warranty) however

were not in stock and would have to order them and would be delivered to our home on jan 31 . He said we would have to pay the labor

and charged us 320.00 dollars . It is now FEB.06 and the compressor arrived but dryer did not ! When I called Sears repair they said it is

backordered and should be shipped on Feb. 23 2018

I too have lost all my food and havent had a refidge for three weeks and have to wait another three weeks ! ., More than a month with

out a a fridge. This is Insane ! Why is there not a class action suit ? with this many people that have paid hard earned money for JUNK

Kenmore Elite Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

I bought my piece of junk Kenmore Elite fridge with the LG compressor in Jan 2015. In June 2015, it stopped working. The entire thing was covered in ice in the computer area. The tech came out and replaced the mother board - he said this was a common problem. Part and labor was covered under the warranty but I was seriously upset - this is an expensive supposedly top of the line fridge and 6 months in it craps out with something MAJOR? It worked fine for about 1.5 years then the compressor went out...right at Thanksgiving 2016. Part was covered but had to pay over $200 for the labor. Now it went out again in Jan 2018. Had a tech out last week who came and said he thinks it's the compressor but then when he tested it he said this is not the compressor. So he basically unplugged it and plugged it back in and said that should fix it. I wasn't convinced and he said that this fridge has had a lot of problems so I bought the protection plan for $381 because that is a heck of a lot cheaper than replacing the compressor or the mother board. Called service again the next day and waiting for the guy to come now....he already told me on the phone though that he doesn't have any compressors on his truck. At least the fridge has the courtesy of going out in the winter so I can keep my stuff outside in coolers. There have got to be some class-action lawsuits about this piece of junk!

Kenmore Elite Botyom Freezer

Er If: Error code Ice Fan . . . Tech came 2 months ago taught me how to remove ice and charged $190.00. Fridge is 2 years old. Same error code again today. Turn off power for a couple of minutes to reset for use until the error code comes back on. Then when you have time you can disassemble the bottom drawer and back panel to melt ice. Sears should step up and take care of this defect!

Kenmore Elite Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

My husband & I bought a Kenmore refrigerator from them only about 4 years ago, and two of the parts (still under their warranty) failed around Nov. 25th. The first repair person they sent out on the 27th was only able to diagnose the problem, but couldn't fix it as he had to order the parts. The second person spent most of last Friday at our home working on a fix which failed over the weekend. They were supposed to send him back this coming Monday (12/18) but are now telling us there's been a "scheduling error" and they can't send anyone out until 12/29.

We've been living out of a cooler for the last two weeks and are supposed to host family on Christmas Eve. We've spent hours on the phone with Sears (mostly on hold or being bounced around to different people/departments) and have gotten nowhere.

Elite refrigerator

It seems to be the normal with Sears not fixing there appliances. Fridg went out in October they keep putting it off. They can't get the part. Bla bla bla. The service man that finally showed up said it was not Elite compressor in it it was a lg. That sounds like fraud. They still have not fixed it. This is the reason they don't have the business anymore. I heard they were going to file bankruptcy . There is a thing called lemon laws for things you pay over 25.00 for. I think I'll sue. Take the refrigerator back and set it right in the door. How is people suppose to go months without a refrigerator .

Kenmore Elite Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

Another 2 year old Kenmore Elite that has quit working. The repair guy came, and had to order parts. Parts haven't fixed it and now waiting another week for the repair guy again. Funny thing is the repair guy said that even if he gets it fixed it's just a matter of time until it quits again. He said they have a full schedule fixing the LG made Kenmore. Sears is useless and I will never buy anything from them again.

795.74025.410 just over two years old and Dead!

The compressor is toast according to sears. The parts are under warranty, but not the labor. I am not about to shell out $400.00 on two year old fridge to have to do so again in two more years.

I'm not even going to get into the details of the multiple calls and visits

I have found two other class action law suits against LG who makes this fridge.

I think it is time for another. Does anyone know how to get one started??

Kenmore Elite Refrigerator NIGHTMARE

I purchased a Kenmore Elite Refrigerator Model 74023 (with LG compressor) in June 2015. Fast forward two years later, October 17, 2017 found the food in my fridge was warm and my all freezer food was defrosted. All of the horror stories on this site are true. Most have happened to me in the last few weeks. Multiple calls to Kenmore and Sears; multiple technicians have come out; parts on backorder with no ETA; have taken multiple days off of work to wait around for the technicians to show up; telling Sears you don't want to purchase any other service plan they try to sell you every time you call them because they are desperate to make money. I'm being told that to next available day for a technician to come out is Nov. 14th - yet the parts have not arrived and they cannot tell me when the parts will be available. Neither Sears nor Kenmore care about their customers!!! I purchased four Kenmore appliances from Sears at the same time when we remodeled our kitchen in 2015. This is not what I expected from Kenmore or Sears. Do not purchase a Kenmore, especially from Sears. I wish some someone (a smart lawyer, the state attorney general, Superman) did something about this - and at least get Sears or Kenmore to reimburse customers for multiple bags of ice purchased a week to keep the little amount of food you can in a small ice chest, all the "going-out to eat" money that has been spent because we cannot provide a meal for our families; and all the days off of work we have had to take. SOMEONE HELP US!!

Kenmore Elite Refrigerator

We purchased the Kenmore Elite refrigerator with bottom freezer about 1 1/2 years ago and already have a problem with it. The ice maker stopped working. We had a tech come out and the assembly valve had a crack in it. The tech stated he sees this often with these types of refrigerators which to me sounds like a defect but he said he didn't have this as a recall. Of course our warranty was expired and he proceeded to tell me the total cost tor repair would be $370.00 of which $250.00 was labor costs!! I was outraged that an almost brand new refrigerator has this type of problem and they expect us to pay almost $400.00 for a small part that will literally take 20 minutes to install. I tried calling Sears to complain and I got the run around and then tried to contact LG because they are the ones who supply the parts and got the same response that it wasn't their fault, well I'm here to say DO NO BUY THIS PRODUCT!! Not only is it a piece of junk but Sears and LG were not helpful at all! Like they say, "they don't make things like they used to" .

Frustation with Sears poor quality product and poor customer service

I purchased the same Fridge back in November 2016, The first fridge they delivered, never worked. They delivered a new one the following day. The second stopped working within 1 week of delivery. Since then, we have called and scheduled repairs 5 times at this point. They schedule repair appointments 1month out. Every single month food has gone bad. Most recently the tech sent out said it was a thermostat issue.... He ordered the part (it showed up within a week), but the tech wasn't sent back out until another month. When the tech finally came out, he indicated that was not the issue and he ordered 2 additional parts. Those two parts came it took another month for a tech to come out. That tech put the parts in, the fridge still did not work. That tech indicated that the first part was what was needed not the additional parts. 

With every issue we have called sears. Each time receiving a different story as to why they could assist us. Twice they refused to let me speak with a manager. Once they told me the manager was on another call and would call me back to address the issue. They never called. I called again after 48 hours. They attempted the same drill. I refused. Stayed on the call. They finally let me speak to a manager who seem to be reading from a script. They all say the same thing. Last month we were told that if they had to come back out, they would replace the fridge. We've explained this to both techs that have come out since, both indicated that they could not deem the fridge irripairable for fear of losing their jobs. It's clear that although Sears indicates that the techs have to indicate whether or not the fridge can be repaired, it's clear that they encourage their techs to refuse that responsbility and bounce the customer back to them, who in turn bounce it back to the tech. It's all a game for these people.

They take your money and refuse proper services. I really do wish I saw and did my research prior to pruchasing from Sears (which I will never do again). All they tell you is that they're sorry and that they understand. Neither of which is true, because here I am almost a year in and I have yet to have a working fridge. At this point it should be a refund and they can take their crap back. I would also suggest to rotect your rights you need to record (let them know that you're recording them) because what they note and what they say are two different things and they never play out what they promise.

Sears Kenmore Elite refrigerator

Purchased my Sears Kenmore elite refrigerator 4 years ago. It has never worked right. The freezer compartment always has ice on the back wall. Mold grows on the seals. It quit working a week ago. I want my money back!

Sears Kenmore elite fridge by LG

Bought new fridge model 795 74029 , less that 2 years old , sears repair comes out and says , compressor is bad a debris is plugging the pencil lead thin lines. He can't blow it out and says fridge is not fixable. So I spent 200 dollars a month keeping my lettuce cold. He said buy Whirlpool. 531.00 minimum to try and fix it up to 1000.00. And only 99 day guarantee! It cost me 100.00 to find this out. Can you say rip off! After 4 hours of calls to LG and Sears no help.

Poor Quality LG Sears Elite Fridge

Bought new Kenmore Elite fridge made by LG. In less than 2 years the compressor failed sending debris up into the very small Freon tubes blocking the flow of Freon. This was told to me today by Sear repair guy , 40 years experience, says hes has seen hundreds of these fridges compressors fail and they just are not fixable . Minimum was 431.00 labor and max around 1000.00 So I have paid 200.00 dollars a month to keep my lettuce cold, and now need a new fridge. Reading many many of these same stories on the net. Guess how many people don't complain and don't use the net. DO NOT BUY SEARS OR LG .

Kenmore Elite model# 795.74025.411

My fridge is less than two years old and just stopped working. The service tech came out and didn't even look at it and said right away that the compressor is bad. I asked how did he know that and he said they are being replaced in the unit an alarming rate. Now they cannot locate a compressor to repair the fridge. I've lost total confidence in this model refrigerator and not sure what to do, this was an expensive item and I think Sears needs to replace them with a different model that is not experiencing these problems.

I would be interested in hearing about any class action suits, it appears one is justified.

Kenmore/LG Refridgerator

We also purchased the Kenmore Elite Refridgerator in June of 2015. Almost exactly 2 years later the fridge stopped working! We called out a repairman who told us right up front that the Refridgerators are crap! He ordered 3 parts on July 27th, 2017. One part came within 7 days. The other two are on backorder. The gave us an estimate for the parts to be delivered August 11 and August 22nd and to call when they have arrived at our home. We called yesterday to get an update to find out that they couldn't see any shipping numbers on the parts.
We have talked until we're blue in the face to several people on the phone and online chat.
In addition, Sears won't honor the warranty that described in the manual on page two. We would have to pay around $1.000.00 for parts and labor. That sucks!
The frustration and wait isn't worth, so we bought a new GE Refridgerator yesterday.
And, about 18 months ago we had to buy a new stove. Well, we purchased the Kenmore Elite. The salesman told us to look at the handle on the oven door, if it matches the fridge then it would also be the LG. Now we're wondering when it will quit working!

Sears kenmore refrigerator 795.74025.411

I am having similar issues as many other people with this model fridge. a year ago I had a horrible noise from my almost one year old fridge and I got a er rf issue with my fridge. Which was suposably fixed. And here we are less then a year later I am having the same issue but now my warrenty is expired. I have called a few months ago when I heard the same noise and was told Sorry you will have to pay for the service. How does a fridge that cost 2600 dollars not even last 2 years. When it finally died yesterday I called again and now am being told if I pay almost 700 dollars they will warranty it for another year and fix it. This is such a rip off they just keep stealing money. I called 2 tech outside of sears they told me it would be close to a 1000 to buy parts and they wouldn’t do it as they won’t guarantee that would fix the problem since it had already been repaired before.

Kenmore Elite Fridge 795.72053.111 model

The Fridge and Freezer stopped working, and the ice maker leaked all over the floor.
Supposedly there is a class action lawsuit for the ice maker and fridge issue. I filled out that paperwork over a year ago.
Look at all the complaints on this model! I expect a new refrigerator if it doesn't get repaired the very first visit by the technician.
I purchased all brand new Kenmore Elite appliances and expect Sears to step up and solve these issues for all of us.

Kenmore Elite Refrigirator

I purchased a Kenmore refrigerator in 2013 from Sears. In June 2015 my refrigerator stopped cooling. I had lost 200 plus dollars of groceries. I contacted Sears warranty department and it took them several weeks just to come out and diagnose it. They ordered the control panel and took 1 week to come out to install. After replacing it it was not the panel they than ordered the compressor and that took several weeks. The technician came outing it still did not work. After 3 months I went to talk to the manager at Sears in Montclair, Ca. he than exchanged our broken refrigerator for a newer Kenmore Elite Model.That was delivered in August of 2015. July 4th 2017 I woke up to serve milk and my refrigerator was networking. Now after having the warranty expire in October of 2016 there is nothing Sears nor Kenmore will do. Why if there are so many problems has there not been a class action law suit? Sears is nothing but thieves! Taking peoples money selling Lemons!!! Sears only offers 1 year warranty and a extended warranty. Why does Howards Appliance sells LG which is pretty much a kenmore have a 10 year warranty on compressor. And 6 year warranty offered at 499.00. I had to go out today and purchase a new refrigerator. Sad that there is no control on selling such expensive necessities at poor workmanship! Sears does not stand behind there products!!

5+ month nightmare - Kenmore Elite French Door Refrigerator

In August 2011 I purchased all new appliances for my home following a devastating house fire. First time ever I would have all new appliances, wanted to make the best decision, my parents always bought Kenmore, and I got there hand-me-downs as they upgraded, never had a problem one throughout the years.

So with that being said, I purchased all new Kenmore appliances for my home, one of them being a Kenmore Elite French Door Refrigerator, which in 2011 was an expensive refrigerator, over $2,000.00 .

Now onto present day, on July 9, 2016 my Kenmore Elite French Door Refrigerator just quit working, woke that morning to find my refrigerator warm, all the food warm and thawded, and water from the ice dispensor in the door all over the floor. I was leaving town to welcome my new grandbaby to the world the following day, so I call Sears Home Services told them the issue, they were not able to help me over the phone, so they wanted to schedule service. But of course they sold me the Service Agreement, because my original service agreement had expired. prior to any scheduling, and since I was going to be out of town for almost three weeks, they suggested I call back to schedule the appointment once I return.

Well I call to schedule an appointment for service after my return and of course it was 3+ weeks out, so in August the tech comes for the 1st service call, they give you a time of 8am - 5pm for arrival, so I took the day off to wait for him. The tech arrived, he was not pleasant and was rude, didn't seem to want to do his job, he looked a the refrigerator said he was ordering parts and to call the 800 number when they arrive.

So the parts arrive in a few days, I call the 800 number, well the next appointment available is over 2 weeks out, so ok I wait. He comes the 2nd time, he is mad because I had to leave work to meet him, 6 minutes away, and was not there when he arrived, isn't in my home but only 7 minutes, picks up the new parts, says he has to order more, takes the new parts to his van, tells me he will be back in two weeks, but to call the 800 number again when the parts arrive to get a sooner appointment. So the parts arrive in 2 days, I call and the soonest appointment is two weeks, the original date he had already given me, so I wait.

So we are now on the 3rd service call, he doesn't call before his arrival, luckily my adult son was home, my son calls me to tell me the tech is there, the tech comes in, picks up the new parts, opens the freezer and refrigerator and leaves before my son and I can even get off the phone. Leaves a receipt with more new parts ordered and a scheduled service date for next service three weeks away!!! I call the 800 number and complain about this techs service, wanting to know what he is doing just taking the parts and not fixing or attempting to fix my appliance. Sears Home Service has no response because they had nothing from the tech.

Well the latest parts arrive, I call the 800 number and what do you know I finally get through to someone who speaks english, and she is trying to be more than helpful, puts in an emergency order and gets me an appointment for in 2 days!!! By this time, I have am losing patience, it has been over a month since we started with service calls and over two months since I have had a refrigerator.

Now onto the 4th service call, well I took the day off work to make sure I did not miss the tech, I had questions and wanted answers as to what all he had done to the frig. Given I am a single woman, no knowledge of appliances, so I am trusting this tech to do his job and do it correctly. Well to make this already long story shorter, I set my phone down it rings one ring, then nothing, I tried to call back, it goes to the sears tech's voice mail, then I get a text message from sears, your technician has arrived. hmmmm I must have been blind that day, but I don't see him. So I call the 800 number, they actually argued with me that he was there LOL!!!! Anyways by this point I am totally frustrated, I just want my refrigerator fixed!!! So the following morning I go to my local sears store where I bought the appliances, well I find out they have nothing to do with nor can they do anything regarding Sears Home Services, they are not part of Sears. So back to the 800 number I go. It took 6 phone calls to get through to someone who seemed like they could help, they took my complaint and noted to not send the same tech to my home, and scheduled another appointment, Ha Ha, guess what .... yes two weeks out.

So 5th Service call, new tech, very nice and professional, can't believe what I have gone through with the previous tech, can't believe the tech took the parts, so now we are back to square one. So he spends time diagnosing the refrigerator, has to order more parts, and wow they are the same ones the 1st tech stole from my home. So we go through Service calls 6 & 7, on service call 6 the tech was confident the new compressor was the fix, so he orders the compressor, which I had to pay for because it was over the allotted amount allowed, so on service call 7 he replaces the compressor and it did not fix it so he orders a new board, now this brings me to yesterday, service call #8, YES I SAID 8!!!!! and 51/2 months later, the tech arrives, he is still professional and helpful, installs the new board, but still will not work, he has no idea what direction to go with this refrigerator, so he calls STACK again, finally he get another tech on the phone who seems to know what to look for, so the tech did the testing he suggested, and they have determined there is a breach in the sealed refrigerant system, on the interior of the frig, and can not be repaired. But the tech informs me that the sealed system has a 5-year manufactures warranty, and that it has to be a manufacturer's defect and they should replace it. WOO HOO Awesome, right??? Well no, not as of today.

As of today, I have called, been transferred, asked to call this number and that number, basically spent 5+ hours on the phone trying to find out how and who to contact for the manufacturer's warranty.

Well what I am being told is that even though the refrigerator died prior to the end of the 5-year warranty, because the first service was not done prior to the expiration there is nothing they can do, but honor my service agreement contract, and possibly offer me up to a $500 credit with Sears or Kmart towards a new refrigerator which has to be used within 90 days. I don't have the money to replace the refrigerator, I was not planning on having to do that when I spent the high dollar amount for a so called "high quality refrigerator" so what happens to that credit after 90 days, and after this I unsure it I want to buy from sears.

So we will have the 9th service in two days, it's amazing how now they can get someone out in 2 days, and it's just to take photos of the refrigerator. The tech assured me yesterday the warranty coverage would go back to the date that it actually quit working, that is not the case, Sears you found the loop hole I guess.

I have done some research on this refrigerator and there are hundreds of complaints, and people having the same issues with their's as I did mine, not only with the appliance itself but with the service provided by Sears with their warranty program. Why hasn't there been a recall, why not a class action suit, why will they not stand behind their products and warranties, we as consumers are expected to hold the bag. It is unethical business. Sears/Kenmore is not the Sears our parents and grandparents purchased everything from, I have no faith in them as a customer any longer, which is sad because I live in a small area and Sears here is locally owned, and I believe in supporting small business, not big box stores if possible, but I don't think they have left me a choice. Sorry Anne, I know your store is struggling but I am not the only one dissatisfied and left with a lemon that i can't make lemonade with. Maybe as a store owner you should do something.

Totally frustrated in Arizona.
