Lack of Diversity

This channel isn’t in your face racism. They go above and beyond to exclude non white actors in their holiday movies. Everything is white washed! It’s so obvious with the Tom Cruise look alike and blond hair blue eyed women! They rule the channel. If it’s not that it’s some city gal falling in love with a cowboy on a damn farm. When you see Santa you don’t even see a black elf. They should change there channel name to from The Hallmark Channel to W E T, The White Entertainment Channel.

older movies

I enjoy watching hallmark, at Christmas time, every year, but this year, it has been different. A LOT of the older movies, you are not showing, and the ones that are being aired are very early in the morning, between 12 am and 6 am. I have only seen one new movie that was ok, and they are filling up the prime time slot every night and, it seems, half the early evening. How about mixing it up a little for next year, I know that the lineups have already been made for this year

Real men please

Hallmark if you want us to enjoy your romance movies get real men that's not afraid to kiss a woman. Don't get men that is more feminine than the lead actresses. Your movies are fun, light, and endearing. But I can't stand to see an obviously gay man in the lead role pretending to be straight.

Fake/Repetitive actors/Poor Romance

I like Hallmark movies, however after watching several of them there are three big problems.

1. Stop re-using the same lead actresses. Yes, they were good in their own movie but I'm tired of seeing them over and over again. It kills the magic. Sometimes their movies get played back to back so it's really ridiculous. Give other actresses a chance.

2. A lot of the movies are too "plastic" aka fake. The stories don't have a lot of development, everything is too perfect. Everything is happy happy smiles, with minor struggles or sadness thats quickly resolved. It'd be nice to see more facial expressions, more realism in the emotions.

3. In a lot of the movies the romantic leads don't have a lot of alone time getting to know eachother to make their new found love to be believable. I think a very merry mix up is the only movie that it's believable. They bake cookies together, look through old photos, his hobbies and hers match up, he makes her laugh, they truly have stuff in common and can relate. The other movies are a disappointment. Usually their "love" grows from trying to solve a problem together, competing for the same thing, kids/family bringing them together. It needs more "getting to know eachother" and connecting on a deeper level.

Sound

I downloaded tikilive so that I could watch the Hallmark Channel. It is never clear and today on every show the words don't match up with the mouths. You hear them say something and then their mouths move. Is there anyway to fix this because it's really hard to watch shows with it like this.

DIVERSITY

Wow! I thought that I would be the first one complaining on lack of diversity; however, I see numerous complaints. Okay Hallmark, please enhance in this area.

Sound problems

Lately there has been sound issues with both the Hallmark channel and Hallmark Movies and Mysteries channel. It's is very annoying when words are not heard because of the problem. I hear a static noise and the words cut out. I haven't called Charter because they will just tell me it's a Hallmark's problem. I've turned the movies on on both of my TVs and get the same problem so its not my TV. Watching "Christmas at Holly Lodge" as I write this and the problem is occurring throughout the movie and I'm this close to not finishing this movie. VERY ANNOYING as I said. Please check this out ASAP. Thank you.

Need more diversity

I am extremely disappointed with the lack of diversity in your Christmas movies. Please change this. There is great value in diversity and your are not showing an accurate representation of our country.

Sincerely,
A white woman who sees the beauty, strength and value in diversity.

Hallmark movies

These are worse than "B" movies. Scripts are pretty much the same and I am tired of the actors saying "What are you doing here?" The stories are so predictable. I looked at them cause there were not better ones on at the time. ALTHOUGH National Geograpic and the Alaska shows are better. And to make it worse, they are reruns of bad movies.

Hallmark Channel

I love Hallmark Channel movies but I am really tired of the lack of diverse lead characters. People of other races fall in love too. We are a diverse country and Hallmark doesn't even try to reflect our diversity. I am not talking about having a token minority secondary character but a lead character. I am not going to watch Hallmark movies until this changes. I hope they listen to the feedback about this topic!

Actors

I tune into the Hallmark Channel all the time. I am a real fan. I want to see movies that make me feel good...to escape the craziness in the world.
The stories are great and actresses believable. My problem is with the majority of the male lead actors. They are not believable. I find them to be too gay for a romantic heterosexual role. Please cast more believable real MALE actors for the lead romantic role.

Movies

I love your channels and Christmas movies, but this year the new movies can't compare with the older ones. Dog named Christmas, Christmas in Conway, Season of Miracles and many of the older ones, please run them again this year. The best one this year is Bramble House Christmas, really good movie. Thank you.

Diversity

I use to watch Hallmark everyday and when you let Christina Ferrera go, I stopped watching during the day. I love the Christmas holidays, therefore I watch the Hallmark Christmas movies and even the reruns. I do get tired of all the repeats. I know its fantasy and designed to really get people into the holiday spirit which is great. However, my other problem with this chanel is to let you know African Americans fall in love to.

Enough with the empty coffee cups

Kindly put liquids in your cups, and make it believable. Apart from that, the cheesiness is why my wife and I watch Hallmark, brings the holiday mood.

Diversity

My wife loves Hallmark movies. I don't - but by association I've seen a few. It's apparent that the cliched formula works for Hallmark and the lack of diversity does too. After reading the amount if complaints addressing this, it's startling that Hallmark rather stay true to their core audience. Business as usual! Too damn bad.

Too fake and poor acting

I normally enjoy watching Hallmark but lately the actors they have chosen are far too cutesy and fake. Candice Cameron leads on that issue. Her twin movie was awful and I change channel on her commercials. It may sound mean because on the most part Hallmark is medicine at the end of a horrific day. Totally enjoyed the 2 movies about the man who was a stock broker and female who was a baker that inherited a house and turned it into an inn. The 2nd movie to that was a different house which was a bummer. It would be nice to see a series with these 2 actors they blend well. Anyway, be more real and spend $$ on better actors.

Christmas Movies

I remember complaining last yr. about the 24 hrs. of nothing but Christmas movies starting at the end of OCTOBER! Since our current cable co. (ZitoMedia the horrible) took over, we have only a few channels, and unless you are a sports fan who would enjoy 10 sports channels and lots of crummy choices, there are no family shows. They even took off the Hallmark Movie & Mystery channel, so the ONLY channel I have to watch (besides a news channel) is the regular Hallmark channel. These silly Christmas movies are just that - silly, mostly I guess for the 20-30 yr. old crowds. So many of them are the SAME story with little differences - boy and girl meet, discover their affection for one another until one does or says something to make the other no longer trust them, but then it all turns around and they kiss at the end under the fake falling snow. One more thing on this topic, is the prime time movies are all the latest repeats. In the middle of the night when I can't sleep, I've seen some old ones from the past. Why can't these at least be mixed up with the new ones so the same ones aren't on every other night???

It was bad enough before Christmas movies when the whole evening is nothing but one of the absolutely worst shows on TV - The Middle for the whole evening and after that, The Golden Girls! These must be CHEAP, and are reruns day after day after day. And I would argue they are definitely NOT family oriented or for children who already have enough bad influences. If they are on again after the holidays, I'm finished with Hallmark! You may not miss 'me' but I'm not the only one who is this disgusted with it all.

And I totally agree with another poster below (CAMB) who mentioned the real reason for Christmas, and it's NOT Christmas magic! The value system of Hallmark seems to have disappeared. I'm so sick and tired of all the females being blonde with such noticeable enlarged lips, running around with skirts so short they barely cover the underwear, and as well, all the terrible V-neck tops exposing their breasts. I would never have expected Hallmark to turn into what it has. Several friends have already quit watching this channel, as it's no longer the wholesome family programming it was in the past and I think I'm going to be boycotting it as well, as it's upsetting me rather than being enjoyable programming. On Home and Family (a.m.) they all talk about the Christmas movies because they are interviewing the stars who are in them. However, I can't believe they really enjoy watching them over and over and over!

Adding another complaint - like some of the others here, I'm not happy with the constant repeat of females, Danica McKellar, Lacey Chabert, Alicia Witt, and a couple others. And when a friend showed me Lacey Chabert in her practically nude photos modeling underwear, it turned me off completely. She seemed like a sweet, innocent young woman, but now I don't want to watch her movies at all. We used to love the Hallmark channels.

Hallmark Channel

Boy CHarris, you must be giddy as you watch the Donna Reed Show and ecstatic with a Leave It To Beaver chaser! No diversity in Mayfield, right? Of course, they were on network television from 1957-1966, over 50 years ago - a time for which your observations are better suited. Your issues are very revealing : "diversity is shorthand for fewer white people"; "....now every white female lead has to have a black best friend"; ".... interracial couples jammed down our throats". (You gotta really be lovin' Prince Harry about now!)

Quick reality check- it's 2017. Yes, no one makes us watch the Hallmark Channel. And if any Hallmark execs read the opinions of their consumers, no one makes us buy their greeting cards or set foot in their Hallmark stores either. Clinging to the whiteness portrayed in the world of the Cleavers in 2017 makes as much sense for Hallmark as eliminating sexual harassment rules from their human resources department.

So while you may be clueless about the strengths and advantages of diversity, let's hope for their sake, that Hallmark realizes how adding people of color to their casts AND crew adds GREEN to their revenue stream..... resulting in a fiscal year in the BLACK!.

Movie Concerns

I have been watching the Hallmark Christmas movies for many years. In fact, I look forward to them with the hopes of finding more diversity in the new season. But sadly that has not been the case. Each year seems like a repeat of the previous year. I am an African American who wants to see stories and leading actors portraying not only my race but that of Hispanics, Asians, and other races besides that of the constant Caucasian families and stories. In some cases even the towns seem totally white. You might see a "token" character of another race but that's all. As much as I enjoy what I call the "feel good Christmas movies", my disappointment in not seeing more diversity outweighs the joy I hope I'll feel in watching the movies.

Our country is a melting pot of all races, not just one. I find it interesting that Hallmark sells greeting cards focused on various races. Why is that? To increase sales? Your movies reflect one race and yet your greeting cards try to be diverse. They should all be equal.

I'm also concerned, as other posters have stated, that in so many of your Christmas movies the true meaning of Christmas is not even mentioned. I realize and appreciate that the viewers are of many religions, but there seems to be no focus on any of that. I recently watched two movies where the characters were dancing to "Silent Night" in one and "O Holy Night" in another. With all of the countless Christmas songs heard throughout the Christmas season, why is it necessary to use spiritual carols to dance to? I find that to be very offensive.

My hope is that Hallmark will pay attention to our complaints and remedy these concerns. It would make a lot of viewers happy.

My very best wishes to all of my fellow viewers.

Movies from the past years

Where are the older Christmas movies from the past years, I'm really sick of watching the same movies this year over and over. Where are the Mrs. Miracle movies, or the movie of the girl that's been engaged three times and runs away from the church or the Henry Winkler movie? I'm sick of seeing Danica McKellar in so many movies. How about the movie with Alan Ladd buying the Lodge. You're just keep playing the same movies over and over, I usually look forward to Hallmark running Christmas movies, but not so much this year. What happened to Matchmaker Santa, in the past the movies have been excellent, but this year they're just dull. Bah Humbug !!!!! Not watching anymore unless you bring back the older movies, get your act together.

In Praise of Romances, Lack of Diversity

Quick reality check: It's a free country. No one makes you watch Hallmark movies. If you don't like them go find the remote and change the channel.

I like Hallmark movies. Why not? They're light. They're fun. It's entertainment that can be counted on not to disappoint. And there is always, always a happy ending. If you're looking for deep plot lines and unhappy endings you don't understand the basic plot of the romance novel.

I'm not the least bit bothered by this so-called "lack of diversity". If you want diversity - which is shorthand for "fewer white people" - go watch BET. Blacks make up 13% of the population, so one black actor in a cast of 10 is about right. Made for TV movies have small casts. Don't believe me? Look at any of the 'crowd' scenes and count the extras. So it's actually racial overkill now that every white female lead has to have a black best friend or colleague.

It's bad enough that we have to have interracial couples jammed down our throats in every TV ad as if this were the norm. Take your social justice warrior crap over to CNN and let the rest of us enjoy our silly, shallow romance movies.

Family Friendly?

I enjoy the Hallmark movies, but when watching The Most Wonderful Time of the Year recently I was disappointed in a moment of violence that I saw.
When the snowbound stranger in town challenged a store owner to a fight over a bicycle in his shop, they went out doors and the stranger hit the store owner in the head with a garbage can and knocked him out! The woman that was with the offender laughed! They ran away laughing and left him there. That was all wrong!

Still no diversity

Last year I watched Hallmark around the clock during the holidays but it took my 13 year old to point out to me the lack of diversity in the movies. I sent a message about it in January, and while I don't expect my one request to open a floodgate, I don't understand why after a year you still only have ONE movie that features African Americans. You can have over a dozen new movies but still can't address the fact that no black/brown/Asian folks live in Christmastown? Considering that I am obviously not the only one who is looking for more diversity from you, I now think it's a choice for Hallmark to not cater to people of color. Very disappointed.
