lack of diversity

I love the Hallmark movies to escape from the reality of the harsh world around us, I imagine that anyone who watches this channel understands that no evil will ever be seen or heard and all ends well, one can't possibly watch, expecting anything other than this. I do have one major complaint, total lack of diversity in all Hallmark movies, except possibly as minor characters. This is shameful Hallmark and I'm getting to the point of switching to Life channel for their movies as at least they have more diversity. I am a caucasian female but am getting to the point of feeling a sense of complicit racist attitudes by being a participant in watching and never seeing any changes.

Not playing older hallmark movies

I love hallmark movies. But, we couldn't wait to see the older movies, whether it be Christmas or any other time of the year. Hallmark has a lot of great older movies, so many of us are missing them. Please play them!!!! Also, we and so many other people can't believe cedar cover is not coming back. Such a great show and great actors. What are you thinking. Ugh!!! Also, so many of us miss the other woman co-host of home and family. She was warm and sincere. She made you want to watch. We miss her!! It's not the same without her. We only watch once in awhile now. We wish she was still on. Bring her back. Thanks for listening. Merry Christmas!

Movie "My Christmas Love"

I enjoy most of your movies and have done so for more than a decade. I especially look forward to the Christmas selections. That being said and the fact of having never written a comment letter, plus being so annoyed--- here goes. These comments are directed to the intonation and pitch of the voice of Meredith Hagner. I had to turn off the Movie "My Christmas Love". I liked the male casting in the movie, which added to my irritation. Meredith's voice was like razor blades on my nerves. I listened to the first 15 minutes and had to turn it off as the pitch was giving me a headache. The phrase "Chipmunk on Speed" comes to mind. She deserved and NEEDS to be sent to an elocution teacher before being cast in another movie.
Respectfully,
SR Cantwell @ cableone.net

Movie selections

My family watches Hallmark continually and they provide uplifting entertainment in a world of discord. The only thing that could be improved is the fact that several movies of the past were completely or almost completely ignored (Pete's Christmas. Mister Miracle, A Star For Christmas) and others were in overkill mode. Please spend more time "mixing" up the movie choices.

same new shows over and over

I was always a great fan of Hallmark channel, however in the past 2 years you show the new movies over and over. Plus they are all just remakes of old movies from other channels. You only had one good new movie this year. the magic stocking. What happened to the movies like Season of Miracles, Christmas visitor, Fallen angel, and so many more which had a great story. Now they are too fake and with no heart. Plus you hardly showed any of the old ones. Please try and improve.

Lack of diversity in Xmas movies

I absolutely love the theme of your Christmas movies. The movies really touch my heart around this time of year and inspire me to be kinder throughout the year. My concern is that minorities are not well represented on your channel. It is Necessary to include EVERYONE in your Christmas messages. Your movie themes are about Love,Giving,Sharing and Caring. It's about striving to be better. Please let your network be an example of this by including everyone in these storylines. I want to continue watching your heartfelt movies but if this doesn't Change I will no longer be interested in tuning in. Do the right thing Please

Need more diversity

I love the Hallmark Channel and the Christmas movies except I never see any black actors/actresses. Is there a reason why?
Please give me diversity to watch on this network. Also, please upgrade the snow to look more authentic if possible.

Thank you!

loud music

I want to listen to dialog, not senseless background music. What a relief it was to watch :Holiday Inn" which had music onl when it counted.

No Diversity

Hallmark Channel add diversity to your movies. People of color do exist in this country as upstanding citizens. You must work really hard to keep diversity out of the movies you present. Your refusal to show characters of color in everyday roles promotes racism.

Hallmark Channel Haters

Hey all you Hallmark Channel haters! If you can't say something nice, then don't say anything at all. What a bunch of Christmas party poopers! Change the channel already and put yourself out of your (and our), misery. Geez.

Would LOVE to see LORETTA DEVINE as main character

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE HALLMARK CHRISTMAS MOVIES AIRING NON STOP!
I've read others comments of the lack of diversity. I agree, although I've seen some diversity lately, what I would love to see is actors like Loretta Devine play a main character.
Airing tonight has actress, Alicia Witt and to be honest, I have to change the channel when she comes on. I'm not sure if she's overacting or doesn't have the genuine, sincerity like Candace Cameron or some of the other regulars.
Also, if possible, shorten the length of commercials. Some last for 5-8 minutes.
Oh, is there a reason why they're filmed in the summer? I'd have to agree with others comments on the fake snow. Maybe start filming in Colorado or other cities which has snow.
Well, thank you for listening. Hope you have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Length of commercials want Loretta Devine

I absolutely LOVE the Christmas movies running nonstop! I've seen everyone and I've read other comments and I also agree about diversity. I'm a white female and have noticed every main actor is white. I'd lOVE to see Loretta Devine play a role. She's genuine and captivates her audience. Unfortunately, Alicia Witt is very hard for me to watch. She seems to be overacting or she doesn't have the sincerity like Candice Cameron or the other Actors. So, please create a story line with Loretta Devine!
I loved the one with Henry Winkler too. The Bridge was a great one as well!
Thanks for listening,
Merry Christmas!

Other holidays

I have watched the Hallmark channel for Christmas for years. I am a single black female and I do like seeing diversity in the program's now, and I'm old school. The movies are actually.....Harlequin romance stories, which I loved reading, with a sprinkle of Christmas on them. I love watching the program's every year and yes the old ones such as; A very Merry Mix-Up, A Princess for Christmas, which is my favorite. "Just saying" there are other holidays. There is Easter, 4of July, Thanksgiving, etc....
I have directv my channel 312, what's the other Hallmark channel???

LOVE MY HALLMARK MOVIES YEARLY.
And may God Bless all...

Playing the same movies over

Why do you play the same movies over and over. I'm watching "The Sound of Christmas" now which I will be turning because it is boring. I also noticed that it will be on tomorrow at 1pm. Why the same movies over and over? You have a whole year to hire actors for a new show. Maybe a fresh face needs to be brought in to help solve the problem. I'd rather you not show the Christmas movies than show the same ones over.

Christmas movies

Two months is too long to go not watching Golden Girls and Frazier. I don't watch the Hallmark Channel at all until they come back on January 2. The Christmas movies are on 24/7.

Lack of Diversity

I googled "hallmark movies lack diversity - and this forum came up. I'm really glad others have noticed this too. I agree with all of the comments that say there is a lack of diversity in EVERY Hallmark movie. Its not that difficult - use people of color, gay people, etc... for more of the major roles. I used to watch HM movies all the time, but I will be dropping Time Warner and Hallmark.

Hallmark movies

No Diversity. I started watching their movies last year. I enjoy the wholesome quality of the movies I have one complaint There are no Black, Asian, Hispanic on any of these movies. I would like for them to make some changes. I will give them until next year if no changes are made I'm going to stop watching. I am a black female who enjoy your movies but it is time for some diversity.

Hallmark Christmas Movies

Hi. In general i'm Ok with your Christmas movies. However, i only see African Americans in lesser roles or even demeaning roles.
This needs addressed. It is a concern among many people. It saddens me and takes away from your movies.
PLEASE- Correct this... I am a white conservative American....

No diversity at all!!

I love watching Christmas movies, so I decided to watch the Hallmark Channel. After a week of watching I realized mostly the same actors were being used in many of the movies and there were no diversity appearing in any of the movies. I called my husband up and said there is something wrong with this channel. There is no diversity at all in any shape or form on the Hallmark Channel. I was shock to see Christmas only consisted of mainly one race. I thought very interesting and why would a channel on play movies using one race. Hallmark I think we got the message and with that message you have sent, I will no longer watch your channel. Diversity is all around. Open your eyes and see there is talent in every nationality if you just give change an opportunity. Merry Christmas.

Absolute Fantasy Land

I have read several pages of the complaints towards the Hallmark Channel Christmas movies and i have to add my comments about how ridiculous most of the plot devices are. In addition to how poorly staged most of the movies seem.

Every town has their tree lighting a few days before Christmas.
Stores don't start their Christmas sales until the week of Christmas.
People decorate the day before Christmas.
The fake snow has entered the level of absurd.
Everyone is white.
Everyone is straight.
People with children are widowed.
Children are cute and almost perfect.
Women all want to be married and hate their career choices.
There is always snow.
Small towns have all kinds of fabulous Christmas events.
Big cities are bad.
If you're poor you look like a homeless person.
If you're a working woman you look like someone out of a fashion magazine.
Some of your Santa suits are horrendous.

The story is always the same. Try to let the woman have her career. I never see a male on your movies give up his dreams.

Total lack of diversity

I have seen the emails about lack of diversity and felt I needed to add my complaint to it. Numerous movies added this year and NOT '1' had a family other than White! Really this day and age! I love watching the corny movies every year and this year I just didn't bother as I went from one white family - with the occasional minority neighbor or friend. I guess whomever is making these decisions still live in those lily white towers. Here's a tip - people of color and other life styles celebrate Christmas also - ask around 🤔

Sound is off

Why is the sound off on most of the Hallmark Channel movies. I am a film maker and this is just inexcusable that you show these movies and the sound does not match their lip movements. Please find out why and fix it. I can't enjoy these movies when I sound is off. They are great movies and this is a disservice to the filmmakers and the audience. If you don' know how to fix I will be glad to share that editing technique with your editor. Thanks.

Christmas movie plots

I agree with many of the posters complaining that there's a lack of diversity in the Christmas movies... however, I'm going to go beyond that and state that there is a lack of diversity among all the "white" characters.
This will undoubtably fall on deaf ears, since if their "formula" works, Hallmark will keep using it. It's the "imaginary America" where wholesome well-monied families only interact with other wholesome well-monied families in rural small towns that haven't existed since 1960.
None of these Caucasians seem to live in a world remotely related to reality. Nobody is poor. Oddly, all the young unmarried single women seem to make enough money to own their own businesses and have large stately homes, or to travel the country on a moment's notice. I know of absolutely no single woman under the age of 40 with this kind of wealth, and no men either. I know of very very few "hard core career women" who are seeking marriage or are unhappy with their lives. They get dogs and hobbies and hang out with friends. Men come to them, because they have good credit and own their own apartments.
None of the men seem to have beards, with the exception of Santa. None of the male love interests look older than 40.
There are an inordinate number of widowers and widows with young children. Is divorce too ugly a topic to touch? Is there some plague going on that I'm not aware of? If these movies were cast during a different time period, say prior to 1950, the number of dead spouses dying at a young age would seem believable.
I also hate the "forgiveness" message repeated in conjunction with the death of a loved one. Don't go there. I lost a parent last Christmas, had to deal with an ugly family fall-out, and I absolutely despise the incessant "SO WHAT IF RELATIVE DIED---BE CHEERY AND JOLLY!" mantra.
No thanks, I'll keep my mourning. Perhaps even Christmas deserves some levity. My school-aged kid can handle the idea of mourning around Christmas, why can't Hallmark?
Sometimes families aren't meant to be fixed or forgiven.
Sounds like the people who write these scripts never experienced that kind of loss during a holiday.
