NTTA double billing

Since 2012, NTTA has charged me for ZIPCASH on all 3 vehicles. Even sending former owner(FAMILY) notices that they paid in fear of getting in trouble. In March 2015 I brought the state in, NTTA finally retracted fees. After paying 1 vehicles toolls I realized they are still charging me cash rates. They ignored that one and re added all fees onto my 2 other vehicles and now sent me a ltter to go to court for habitual violater. The State of Texas proved I ALWAYS had a toll tag. Especially since each day, both agencies(TXTAG/NTTA) were charging me for various booths. I have emailed, mailed, faxed for years and get written letters saying they do not deal with the other company and take it up with them.
So, I guess I get my vehicle impounded and may go to jail over there error numerous times? Luckily, I am detailed and have all discovery to go to court. Then can file a counter for thee years of time and money I have spent.:)

Class action lawsuit

What you are doing is wrong and you need to be stopped. There have been many companies from very large to small that have sued for over charging fees. You are smiling now because the money is pouring in (millions) but let me tell you, that smile will turn to tears as soon as the lawsuits start!
Your fees are not proportionate to the bills. You cannot charge $25.00 for a $2.07 charge, then $60.00 for a $2.07 charge

Overcharging

I received a late payment bill from NTTA for 36.18. I never received an initial bill. This has been happening since 2007 when I starting getting bills for hundreds of dollars that included 25.00 charge per unpaid toll. I never received an initial bill then either. Ithe most recent bill has no dates or specific amounts, only a total of $36.18. Im not paying anything considering this system is so screwed up I don't believe my payments would be credited.

Ridiculous threats and abuse of collection tactics

This company is appalling. Are they a private company or not? I ask but cant seem to get a straight answer anywhere. How can any company hold your car registration hostage for unpaid tolls? I share my car with friends and family to use when they need to borrow it and my 2nd car is in the control and custody of someone else who is making the payments. It seems as if it should be ILLEGAL for this sham of a company to hold me legally accountable for unpaid tolls others incur in my car. I can't control anyone else. Whether people owe tolls or not should not get them sent to jail or have their car registration held hostage. There are other ways they could handle the matter. First of all maybe not charge such obscene fees for tolls. This is a gross example of abuse and for some reason they continue to get away with it. Why do we all allow them to even make a dime off of any of us? They are a sham of a company and their roads are always clogged up anyway. I have called for police assistance while on the toll MANY TIMES when I have spotted a drunk driver or a reckless speeder and NEVER has anyone even responded that I am aware of.... It is a death trap it seems and I refuse to drive it after 10pm for that reason alone. Now I will never drive it again. How has there not been a huge class action against this company and how does anyone allow them to continue to have such an enormous amount of power they have no business having in the first place. Maybe we all need a place where we can discuss in more detail and vent our frustrations. Who knows maybe even start a movement against them. You all do know that even something as small as a "blackout" day would hit them in the pocket book- even if only just a little bit.

Everyone must decide to just stop using the toll roads and to cancel their toll tag accounts. This is the only language NTTA will understand. I have already done it. Join me and spread the word! Together our voices will be heard.

ZipCash

NTTA your are literally the worse kind of people I have dealt with. How is it that your can charge 35 of admin fees for 10 dollars. I'm not satisfied at all with this service and on top of that threatening to take it to court and block registration for 45 dollars that are owed. I hope people read this message and consider whether to get a toll tag or just ride the free roads. I missed getting 2 letters from these people and now being punished with the 3rd letter. This seems utterly uncaring and reminiscent of what greedy company is like. Good job NTTA you do not care, your not customer friendly, and on top of that your like to threaten patrons with court threats.

ONE yr later

I travelled from Arkansas to TX on business over a year ago. I, just this month ,received a bill for those TOLLS at a cost of $.33 a mile for the short trips around Dallas. I asked why they finally decided to bill me and they told me they use a third party company to provide information about vehicles and this is when they decided to bill me. WTF. How do these people think this is ok to bill whenever they want. The Supervisor told me there is not statute of limitations on these bills and they can bill for as long as they want. Someone needs to oversee these jokers.

the vehicle was not my own anymore after I sold it to him last year

I was received the letter from NTTA that I was owe toll tags last feb that I never go through Dallas because I sold my vehicle to a young man that who brought that was already broke down that was no good . It was a year ago on January of 2014. The guy was responsible for his action who was not pay for toll tag bill recently on Feb.17 th, 2015. And I already filed TxDMV Titles and Registration twice on April 6th and May,2015 online! I already called NTTA about this problem that was not me who responsible for toll tags,not my exist time of that happened but the young man was responsible for it. Because the vehicle was not my possession no longer since Jan.2014 ! They says I must pay for his bills that was not me and threat me to charge me for fine that I was not do anything for this happened that was not my intention do that ! But I will not pay for his bills that I am not be responsible for his action but himself ! They were the abuse of harssament and crime that they continue to sending me the letter. They really waste of their time to harssament me from the letter that I did not do anything wrong or never drove this vehicle through Dallas. But they let him get away with his wrongdoing for not pay his bill and force me to pay for it but I still refuse to pay for it bec it was my right! So, I really need helping from someone who had an experience of this problem and to solve or what can I do about this?

NTTA auto charged my bank card for Unknown tolls

I made the mistake of providing my bank card for NTTA to auto charge $40 as necessary for future toll usage. Previously I would just call to pay my balances due periodically. I relied on the NTTA representative to provide me with my total balance due. Time after time I was told that after my payments were made that my account was paid in full. But once I provided my bank card for auto charge, all of a sudden I was charged $40 at least 12 times in a 6 week period. When I called to inquire about the excessive charges they saw that I was being billed for tolls from over a year ago! They said that they were not aware of the charges because they were not showing on my account. They said that the computer system sometimes moves charges to another place they do not have access to and when funds are available (when a credit card it left on file) the customer gets charged. They couldn't even tell me if there were still outstanding charges left. Their solution was to create an account because they didn't have any way of knowing if it would happen again. They had no problem admitting to me that their computer system was completely screwed up. The manager I spoke with researched the charges and said that I owed them but was never billed for them. She advised me to dispute the charges. So my bank then had to incur the cost to submit the reversal to NTTA. Then I found out that NTTA declined my dispute! They should have never charged me for tolls that NTTA themselves were not aware of. I can't even research the charge history myself because their online account system is beyond ridiculous!! But the bottom line is that I did not provide my bank card for NTTA to abuse. I did not agree for them to randomly charge my card for mysterious tolls without my consent. The card was provided to credit my account for future toll usage only!! That is exactly how the auto charge program was explained to me!

Charging Tolls after the vehicle was sold

I bought a vehicle from my sister in law and transfered the title at the Dept of Motor Vehicles the very next day. I rode the tollway and I dont have a toll tag. My sister in law is still getting ridiculous charges for my tolls. Somebody needs to figure how to link the NTTA to the DMV because a toll fee is the least of my worries when buying a car. An $11 million dollar a year business in collection fees and excess charges. I find it unfair as a tax payer to still has to pay for roads with credit card mark ups and interest rates higher than any bank can touch for a returned investment.

NTTA - exceessive fees and late invoicing

I visited Texas in September 2014 from KC. We drove to Dallas and returned in one weekend. In FEBRUARY of 2015, I received a zipcash invoice with no real explanation of what it was for, only a picture of my vehicle and license plate, as if we had neglected to pay something. Thinking it was just a marketing letter for toll tags since it was mailed over five months after our visit, I ignored it. I received another letter later and called. I was told that it was from our visit in September but we did not get any billing/invoice until February because NTTA 'must have been updating their computer system'. However, I was told I could not have any late fees or administrative fees waived. So my $7.85 toll is now $42.85???!! This is a ripoff and certainly an unfair business practice, even for Texas. Certainly there would be a class action suit filed in the near future.

Overcharges and Rude customer service

NTTA is ridiculous! I noticed on my bill that they had started charging me $80 each time instead of $40. I called only to be told that because I had an increase in usage that they can double the amount charged to cover it??? Since when can they charge you whatever they want? Also I told the rude idiot customer service girl to just cancel the whole damn account, and was told " Don't take this a threat, but if you can't afford the tolltag account you will never be able to afford the zipcash bills you will get!!" ABSOLUTELY insane they can get away with speaking to PAYING customers like that! I am trying to find out how to file a formal complaint but I'm sure that will go nowhere...

TOLL CHARGE FRAUD?

I was charged for using a toll in Texas but was never there this year. 2 years ago we rented one which was not the same model as the one we now own.. They have a picture of my car and it shows the dealer name. Looks like my car and it was my dealer. I don't know whose license plate number it was . . . but it wasn't ours.. Another thing. . . they sent the invoice to me alone. The car is in both my husband's and my name. My social security number (not my husbands) was stolen one year as someone tried to get my refund. The IRS caught it OR they covered themselves because they leaked it out in the first place. Now I am dealing with this attempt. What the hey???? When we called the toll road CSR he didn't want to listen. So my husband asked for a supervisor. The CSR we talked to got back on the phone and said he would take the charge off. We asked why all the coincidences. He didn't know. We called back to try to get to the bottom of it and the next CSR stated "it was an honest mistake!" My husband said he did not feel comfortable with all the coincidences with our car. She didn't have an answer. I am going to the DMV to get to the bottom of this. Will it happen again?????????

No way to contact a human by just calling

I have a zipcash invoice for a vehicle that was sold over 3 years ago but NTTA keeps sending me a bill..worst part is that NOW i have to take time out of MY VERY BUSY day for someone to CALL ME? Where is the CUSTOMER SERVICE in THIS? JUST REDICULOUS. NTTA takes in millions of dollars a year. Cant they have a customer service line who you can actually RESOLVE answers without having to resort to MAKE an appointment to have someone remove the invoice that OBVIOUSLY doesn't belong to ME!

Double Billings from over 2 years ago

The NTTA needs to get it together. I received a bill in 2014 that was from 2012. After I negotiated the amount due down due to NTTA's billing mistakes, I paid the amount due and bought a toll tag. Now a year later, I receive ANOTHER bill for the SAME invoices from 2012. This is absolutely ridiculous. I was told that my only option was to pay the amount due or suffer any penalty charges that may come with not paying. Something needs to be done about this. I looked up the audit information and I am very surprised that NTTA is getting qualified opinions. Bottom line, something needs to be done and there are a lot of angry people out there that are being swindled by NTTA's lack of accounting skills, record keeping, customer service, and ethics. Sadly this is not the first issue I have had with NTTA. I will be taking legal action against the NTTA and its abuse of power.

NTTA

I have a toll tag. My toll tag has never been deficient in funds. All of a sudden I get bills from this scam organization and told essentially don't even try to fight it (I talked to some very pleasant people that did nothing but play the shuffle game). I do not get replies from the "meetings" I set up. In my case the total, for using a road when I had an ACTIVE TOLL TAG(other instances on the same road a day apart no - NTTA bill) is about $120. The, it would be funny if it were not true part, is that the bill says "you would have saved x$ if you had a toll tag". I am worried about driving on the toll roads in North Texas even though I have plenty of money in my account. The worst part is this is our government doing this crap to us and telling us you can not win. I will try and find every politician, no matter the party, that has issues with the NTTA and plans to address this monstrosity, and donate to their campaigns and try and get them elected. There were plenty of stories from the press a few years ago that seemed to get some miniscule response from NTTA but they seem to have faded away. I wish there were more reporting about this scam we have no control over. If you use the roads, sure you need to pay (not with outrageous late fees either), but if you use the roads and have complied by having current toll tag accounts and get scammed and can get no relief - it just proves why people are so cynical about government. This is an embarrassment to the state of Texas!

received a toll fee that occurred 2 1/2 years ago.

Traveling through Georgia in the HOV lane when it turned into a toll lane. Upon exiting the lane I noticed a police officer behind me, so I changed lanes thinking he may need by, as I was not speeding. As I moved over he continued to follow, buy with NO LIGHTS. I was confused, at no time ever did my speed exceed the posted limit! I decided to pull over and he again followed. He discussed the toll lane and issued me a card instructinge to call the number. He took my info and left. When I returned home and called I was told I owed $100.00 fine, which I payed. Now, 2 1/2 years later I am receiving a toll photo bill in the mail. This is total BS, and seems to be a case of DOUBLE JEOPARDY. The whole act is criminal if you ask me!!

Billed After 1 Year

I was sent a bill for $135.55 for 05/26/14 to 04/12/15. Since I am on disability and don't have enough funds to pay, I called to see if could make arrangements. I was told that they couldn't do that. They sent a bill for a one year period and expect me to pay within 5 days. No one there is willing to work with the us the so-called customer. If I can't or don't pay they will charge me late fees. They even told me to wait till next month to pay, that I didn't need to make arrangements. I told them 'what about the late fee, I was told me that they could not waive the fee. This NTTA is the most disrespectful company that I have ever dealt with. I'm not trying to avoid paying my bill, but please give me a break. You send me a bill for a year billing period, and you want me within (now down to 2 days).

Did not get a notice

I received a 2nd notice of nonpayment in the mail,so I called Ntta to let them I never received the 1st notice. I spoke to one lady and she basically told I that I had to pay it because they had confirmation that I had received the notice. I told her that I did not receive it and if I had received it I would of paid my bill. Anyway,I asked for a supervisor and she wasn't any better. My toll went from 7 dollars to 42 dollars, she waived one one of the fee's but I still paid over twice the original toll. Ntta is ripping off their customers, I will never use the toll roads again!!! This company is a big scam!!!

UNAUTHORIZED CHARGES

I HAVE NOT USED MY TOLL TAG SINCE MAYBE JANUARY, AS I FEEL THE FEES ARE A RIP OFF. THEY STARTED OUT LOW, BUT NOW ARE OUTRAGEOUS. ANYWAYS, AS I SAID I HAVE NOT USED MY TAG IN MONTHS AND STILL HAD A $9.00 BALANCE AND THEY TOOK $40.00 FROM MY ACCOUNT BECAUSE I WAS BELOW THE $10.00. I CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SHE TOLD ME THEY CAN DO THAT AND THEY WILL NOT REFUND MY MONEY. EXCUSE ME, THAT IS MY MONEY. I AM NOT USING THEIR SERVICE, SO HOW CAN THEY LEGALLY JUSTIFY CHARGING MY ACCOUNT. IT IS LIKE LEGAL THEFT.

IF ANYBODY ELSE HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM, PLEASE REPLY, AS I AM THINKING OF FILING A LAWSUIT AGAINST THEM.

wow wow

Just reading all these stories ! I'm just shocked how what everyone saying is true, I don't understand why we can't boycott this, why can't we do anything about it, back in the days this was never a issue, but they decide to get cameras and the fees ! Fees ! Fees ! I would love to pay exactly what I owe! For driving on the road I have no problem! Absolutely no problem paying for what I owe when I did drive on the toll, but the fact is 44 cents on your way home and back you rack up a 4$ bill and if you just forget about the bill you end up owing 800$, it's just ridiculous that we have to deal with it, they at NTTA have to deal with, I can imagine the verbal abuse their customer service gets on a daily basis, just a negative chain period.

Getting a bill 2 years after the fact

Have a toll tag and a credit card on file with a positive balance. Their computer detected my license late as a O instead of a number 0 after 2 years later they send me a bill. I have had a toll tag on my truck since 2008. But they can't seem to care and take responsibility of their mistake. Can never talk to the same person twice nor will they call you back. They say they are a governmental ran business and have no time on sending out bills. It could be 10 years. I believe they are double billing! They said I cannot take them to small claims court due to they are a governmental ran.

Administrative Fee's

I have a total of around $5,300 in tolls due to the NTTA. I have contact the NTTA to open a new account with my credit card so no tolls go unpaid in the future. These unpaid fee's were from my lack of responsibility in my early 20's, and living right off the DNT didn't make it easy to avoid driving the toll road when I worked right down town, and had to drive to school every day. When I contacted the NTTA to see what kind of payment arrangement I could make to pay off my tolls due, the lady on the phone was very rude and in a sarcastic voice said I don't just owe the $5,300, but instead owe $24,700 due to the $19,330 due in administration fee's. How is this possible I asked!? She smirkingly said well thats what happens when you don't pay your bills one time. It is frustrating and demeaning to me, to want to make better decisions in life and pay off debt, but instead am taunted and put in a position where (if I choose to make payment arrangements with the NTTA on the total due) will have to pay a downpayment of $2,000 just to start a payment plan, and then pay $370 a month for 5 years. That is a car payment people!! It seems unjust to charge citizens of a great state, outrageous fees who are trying to make amends. Even credit card companies or medical bills do not have outrageous fees for not paying on time. Where are the state senators who care about the people and not just the money made off the toll? I have contacted an attorney to see if there is any hope in trying to save money by having a legal team look into this for me. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.
