NTTA bandits

Been dealing with NTTA for years and still can not be explained that when I'm on the phone ready to do whatever it takes to get current then they can bill my card. We have hundreds in fines and fees because they " COULDN'T CHARGE MY CARD" which is never the case when we are on the phone. No one ever at customer service can take away the wrongly charged service fee. Transferred to another 3rd party billing and then say only customer service can refund and of course the merry go round continues. Class action law suit I'm in and from the looks of it so are many other people. Their billing and business practices are fraudulent at best and completely criminal at worse.

I find it a rip off when NTTA send you $10 and then $25 in addition for a late fee

I did went to Dallas and do remember seeing the toll sign of one of the road. However, on exit there was no toll booth and I did not see any sign of exhibiting method of paying.

Several months later I received a bill of $43.57. Upon calling them I found out that the original bill was just $8.57 and then they added two late charges one of $10 and another of $25.

I feel the late charges are quite steep and they do not make any sense.

Not sure how the legislatures could allow such a rip off??

Billing

I just received a notice from a collection agency for 40.44 of unpaid tolls. We recently moved to Texas and haven't purchased a toll tag yet. The bill was for 2 dates I drove in Dallas in August 2015. The dates were correct. However after talking with the collection agency and the tx tag office they said there were 6 different bills sent to my address. I never received one of them. They told me they can confirm that the post office sent them out. I don't know how it's possible that the PO messed up 6 bills. I have not had any issues with our mail and received the notice from collection agency just fine. Absolutely ridiculous! Someone needs to get a grip on what's going on in their billing. Something is obviously wrong!

New License Plate

I set up a toll tag and new account when moving here in 2009. I do not use the toll tags very frequently. I purchased a new car with a new license plate January of 2013. For the past three years, I have been receiving paper ZIP CASH bills. I assumed these were current bills for my account. I have made several payments over the past years not realizing I was paying the ZIP CASH customer rate. For those that have a toll tag and account, you typically pay 50% less than standard zip cash customer rate. I had absolutely no idea what Zip Cash was and how this is different from my account.

I began receiving emails in June of 2015 about updating a credit card on file to process payments. I am still unsure whether or not the company was able to recognize my new license or not was connected with my account and License Number. Most people I'm sure would think that a new license plate would be connected to their account.

I called in today and spoke with a representative for close to an hour, he was pleasant to speak to but kept referencing, "they are not going to be able to refund you or remove fees" and "they can only pull a call from 2009 to determine if the rep told you you would have to call in and update your license plate" I pulled my bank statement and found previous payments made to NTTA. He could not find them and had no way of knowing what and why I paid.

After being transferred to a Supervisor, things went downhill. Granted it is Saturday, but this Supervisor, Monique, was very unprofessional and rude. She blatantly told me they cannot help me or refund any money. I was willing to negotiate and have them remove my current charges $33 and call it even. I finally got it out of her that the Manager's name is Denise. I will be following up without a doubt on Monday.

I am very very frustrated with the lack of information and professionalism. I'm sorry but the general public is not in the know about zip cash vs. toll tag membership. I will most definitely be following up with whomever I need to to address this situation. Based on reviews below, it seems like a lot of people have had issues. It should not be allowed…. we are FORCED to work with NTTA. What can we do about this company? They need to be stopped.

TollTag but got Zip Cash

I received a zip cash bill when I have a tolltag but only received a 3rd notice and it stated it was due Jan 19 but 2 weeks before it was due it was sent to collections. I am buying the vehicle from my sister and now they are telling me they cannot talk to me to try and pay the account unless she releases everything to me. The vehicle is on my tolltag, I have charges on my tolltag for this vehicle since April of 2015 to now and the bill was for July 2015, which makes no sense. NTTA NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN, Constitution states that we are free from paying TOLL on any road, so why is TEXAS or the government in any State allowing citizens to be screwed by Toll Roads.

highway robbery

first time receiving a bill of 2. 43 from them I don't live in Dallas but I went to the airport one day, got lost and got into the tollway and I had to exit as soon as I can. I intended to pay it as soon as I can but I misplaced the bill because it looks like one of those mail flyer ads and I had so much going on right after the holidays like burst water pipe, trees falling down on my fence . The next thing I saw was the pink bill that says I was supposed to pay by 1/9/16 and now they are charging me 10.00 as late fee for second notice and just a few days late ( received letter on 1/15/16) . So I called right away but there was nobody to talk to. Today 1/19 /16 finally talked to a person . and I asked her to remove the charge since it is my first tollway charge and I did not realize what it was at first and I lost the bill but it is just a few days late and I am willing to pay the 2.43 but the charge was unreasonable for about a week late OF A $2.43 BILL. She said the only way to remove the 10.00 charge is to to pay the membership fee of $20. i SAID THERE IS NO WAY ID DO THAT SINCE i DONT LIVE THERE. THE CHARGE IS UNREASONABLE AND IT IS HIGHWAY ROBBERY! OF COURSE i DID NOT GET ANY DISCOUNT FROM THEM. LOOKING AT ALL THESE COMPLAINTS, THEY MUST BE RACKING BILLIONS OF DOLLARS ENOUGH TO PAY OUR COUNTRY'S DEBT. THESE CROOKS DESERVE TO PAYUP AND VOMIT BACK THE MONEY THAT THEY TOOK FROM UNLAWFUL PRACTICES, THE BEST THEY CAN DO FOR THE COUNTRY THEY RAVAGE IS TO PAY UP BILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN FINE. FOO OUR DEBT! i CRINGE AT THE STORIES i READ HERE. iMAGINE HOW MANY MOTORIST PER DAY THAT THEY CHARGE 75% TO 750%!. mY CHARGE IS A SMALL AMT BUT IT IS OVER 300%. IN 1 WEEK TIME OF LATE!

I have called several different times and waited on the phone for approx 20-30 minutes a call. After going though all the prompts and waiting the system simply gives me a busy tone and then hangs up. Ive signed up online and also cannot access my account as it tells me i must contact customer service......but i cant contact customer service. It's an endless loop of bad customer services and irritation.

Please Take Action

I just spoke with escalation supervisor regarding an invoice delayed over a year. I am being billed over $42 for $7 toll fees, and she states next month it will increase to $70. According to her, even if everyone stopped using toll roads, NTTA will "still be there". Let's prove her wrong. Please, please, please kindly stop using the toll roads, cancel your toll tag accounts and tell everyone you know to do the same. Let's see if over 3 million people stop using the toll roads and cancel their toll tag accounts if NTTA will "still be there". We have the ability to change this situation, I don't understand why we are not doing it.

Bill sent to 3 year old Address!!

Texas now sending out Bills to Mississippi residents.

I really have no problem with paying the $11.10 bill.

I moved 3 years ago from the address that the bill from NTTA was addressed to. What would have happened if I had not left forwarding information with the tenants that moved in after me or if they had moved.

Bogus Charges

I recently had my license plate changed due to the Texas 2 step program upon completing my car registration. Shortly afterwards, I received a zip cash bill from NTTA due to the fact that my new license plate was not registered to my current toll tag. Now granted, my tolltag has been charged every time I drove through a toll, they were not able to link it to my license plate so I was informed I must pay for it ANYWAY. Then it was followed up by, do you realize that you have an outstanding citation for $3200? I'm like WHAT??!!. This woman went on to explain that back in May of 2012, had unpaid citations for about 8 months. Mine you, I had a tolltag since 2009. I asked how did you come up with $3200 & you would need to supply me with supporting documentations. I asked have I received anything in the mail in which she said, NO. I owe $3200 and there's a citation out but I never receive the notice? Fast forward after 4 hours of being bounced around and arriving at a 3rd party collection office for NTTA Dallas who stated that they have nothing on me and they are not sure why the NTTA would transfer me to them. So I start again. NTTA was so nice til they stated, sir what we will do for you is waive your late fees and additional fees if you can make a payment of $620 today. Are you kidding me lady? I need to know what are these charges for? Fast forward again, I finally get a manager. Ok, this should be very helpful. I explain the situation and she comes back to say, well you actually owe way more than the $3200 that they quoted you and also whoever gave you a quote of $620, they are not authorized to waive those charges. WHAT???? I am now forced to go back to pull my bank statement from 2011 to present and highlight every toll tag charge to fight this. This cannot be right.

North Texas Tollway Authority

I just found out that NTTA has been double billing me for tolls. I can't wait for the class action lawsuit against NTTA which is coming soon! They had better be prepared, because they cannot get away with this forever.

Counterfeit Plate?

I have received an invoice for a vehicle that has not been operable for 3 years. We have not registered the truck, and it is basically trashed. The vehicle has set on our property for roughly 3 years, and has 0% chance of being in the area at the time of the supposed violation. I checked, and both license plates are still on the vehicle, but are even a different design than the one pictured. The license plate in the picture appears to be attached to the vehicle in an illegal way, obstructing the numbers on the plate. I am very concerned that this is a fictitious plate, and if it happens to me, how many other people are victims of scams like this??? Please advise how I can move forward in resolving this issue. Thanks in advance for your help!

Over Charging

I have a TxTag account and back in October received a bill from NTTA for $4.43 for use of a toll road that I already paid for on my TxTag account. I called TxTag and they told me they sent a dispute to NTTA on October 23rd twice. Since then I have received two additional bills each with late charges. Called TxTag again, I was told that I have done everything right by reporting this and they were waiting for a reply from NTTA. I called NTTA to be told they haven't heard from TxTag and they needed a dispute from them before they can remove the charge. I called TxTag again today and they was nothing the lady said that made any sense whatsoever. For the second time I faxed them all the invoices and TxTag account detail. What am I supposed to do? .I guess next step is channel 8 investigating report. I will contact them.

North Texas Tollway Authority Zip Cash toll Bill

Recieved a 2nd notice for non payment - it looked like junk mail. I almost threw it away. I visited Dallas 6 months ago and if there was a toll i would have paid it. How do you drive thru a toll and not pay for it ? $46.78 cents for a $4 toll ? Failure to pay this and your Vehicle is ban, blocked on registration and class C misdemeanor. Ridiculous...
Is this for real ? Many others on this site being taken advantage of. Need to take a stand and not let these NTTA take advantage us. Treat people fairly with proof. Seems pretty crooked. I Would support a class action against these folks.

Charging 10x toll amount scam

You people have such a scam going there should be a criminal investigation into your procedures. My complaint is this. If the total amount of your tolls does not exceed a certain amount, you simply do not send me a bill. As a very infrequent user of the toll roads, I do not use a toll tag. Since you do not send me a bill when it is less than a certain amount, I do not know how much to pay or even where to send it. How can I pay anything not knowing that? When I get a bill, I pay it. When I do not get a bill, I don't hear anything until you have racked up late payment charges, fees, and processing costs that amount to at least 10 times the original tolls amount. The first time I usually get anything in the mail is notification from COLLECTION AGENCY! I am not someone whose debts end up with a collection agency. What got me fired up enough to find this complaint board is I just got off the phone from yet another harassment call from a collection agency. This has been going on for YEARS.

I have tried to go down to your office to resolve this. I was told you are not responsible for the mail. Yes you are if you did not mail the bill. I was told buying a toll tag to automatically charge a credit card would avoid this. If your policies cannot get bills mailed properly I would have to be a complete fool to give you access to a financial instrument. I paid the toll amounts spread out over years, but I told them I would not pay any other charges that were added due to a faulty billing policy. One that seems designed to inflate revenue or force drivers to give access to bank accounts.

If these calls or notices from collection agencies do not stop or if I find out my credit rating has been affected by their actions I am beginning to think civil action will be required. At the very least, I will request an investigation from the state attorney general's office into your business practices. The outstanding amount that I have is actually very small. But this is about the principle of the matter. You cannot overcharge drivers 10 times the toll amount in arbitrary fees simply because they do not want to come into compliance with what you demand.

I really hope some class action lawsuit lawyer looking for something to do reads this post. They can keep everything they can get. I don't want anything except to be left alone. The issue for me is the principle of the matter.

Theft of car results in huge unsolveable bills, these people are crooks

I personally HATE the NTTA. I used to work with a fellow employee for almost six months and agreed to sell him my car on payments. I believed him to be trustworthy. I sold him my car with 200 dollars down and he left with it. Literally the next week, time for the next payment, he quit his job.

I contacted Kaufman county Sheriffs department who told me cause I accepted any form of money that I was basically a car dealership and I would have to repossess the car myself. They would not allow me to make a police report.

I spent months looking for my car. Driving to every know address, paying for monthly services to keep looking for any new information, anything.

I keep getting bills, I keep telling them I really don't have the car, it is gone, and yet they keep piling in. Now debt collectors are calling me sometimes 2 and 3 times a day over this. It is affecting my credit and for me, there is no point in paying it because the idiot who has my car just keeps running these tolls and making more and more and more tolls.

I only have one income. I already lost the car, I lost the potential income on that, then I get fines in the mail for wherever he is parking, tolls, it goes on and on.

I kept going back to the Sheriffs department, showing them all this stuff and asking for help, just to get told the same thing over and over. It's not fair. I tried to do something on good faith and I am STILL paying for it, with no end in sight. I wish NTAA would go away.

Auto-Charge

A few days ago, I checked my bank account statements and noticed had been charged $40 every 3 or so. A total of 16 payments that equal up $560. I never gave them authorization to take payments out of my account. This is clearly not right! I will be speaking with a lawyer about this situation. I have printed out my bank statements and also ntta transaction were have I have been charged. I've been trying to get in contact with someone and have yet to get a hold of someone. And no I don't want to talk to a automated system. This is ridiculous!!

Taking Out Extra Money/ Never Received a Bill.

I have never received a bill at all! I give them the correct address three times and yet I have a received a bill. My grandmother called In September to find out what my balance was. While doing so she gave them the correct address again. So that makes it four times they were given the address. After doing so, they informed her of the balance. I purchased the $40 toll tag. Since then, I checked my bank statements on 11/26/2015 and noticed that they have been taking $40 every 3 days from my account. I did calculate the number of times I've been charged which is a total of 16 payments. The total does come out to be $560. The thing is I never authorized them to auto-charge my account when they felt like it. I've been trying to get in contact with someone about and have yet to get a hold of anyone.

Did NOT Receive Notice

I received a 3rd notice and never received any before that one. I called to explain to them that I had not received any other notice and that I do not drive my car on highways and could not understand why I was receiving this notice. After checking into it on their part on the date, I realized my car was in for service at the time and must have been driven by someone in their service department on the toll road. They told me that it was my responsibility since it was registered in my name and I had to take it up with the people at the dealership. As for not receiving any notices until the 3rd one they also told me that it was my responsibility and I would have to talk to my post office about it. They take no responsibility for any of it and I ended up having to pay over $45 for something that was in no way my responsibility. There needs to be a better way of running the toll authority in Texas than this. I never drive on highways and if I did, I wouldn't now.

Current Customer

I have a toll tag associated with a license plate. The tag was given to NTTA after it came in the mail and the temp was removed. Between that time there was a toll charge of $1.07. Instead of NTTA charging the card associated with the vehicle, like they do every day of the year, they sent it to collections and included $37 worth of interest and charges.

Then I get a bill for a trailer that I owned. The vehicle towing the trailer has a toll tag and was charged. The trailer was charged $2.10 for a toll and then NTTA bills me for $35 for fees and interest. All this time I am spending hundreds of dollars on tolls every month for three other cars. My name and account number are on the record but instead of billing my account for the $1.07 and the $2.10, NTTA decides to send me to their collections company for additional fees.

When I call NTTA about the charges, they said they have to send me to their collections to have those fees removed because they can't do it. Then the collection agency says they are unable to remove the fees as well. This process took over one hour.

Here is the worst part, we are stuck driving on NTTA roads and there is nothing we can do about it. They don't care that their systems doesn't work because they know they have our backs against the wall. I only wish I had the time to drive down back roads and stay off their empire that they are so happily building across the metroplex.

Unfair business practice

I had a zip cash bill due on Friday.

I had a death in the family out of state last week and had to leave. When I returned on Friday I tried to pay it 'online' as your statement suggests you can at the hallowed (worthless) NTTA . unorganized web site.

That doesn't seem to be the case. I couldn't find any way to pay online. I downloaded the app for mobile to attempt to pay and surprise, you can't pay there either. I called both the listed service lines on Friday to no avail. I was on hold at both lines until after 5 pm and no one ever answered either. This morning I called at 8:01 and was left on hold until almost 8:40. At that time a representative (polite and professional) took the info and said I had a $10.00 administrative fee. Then tried to sell me a 20.00 tag which I'd never use because I live 60 miles from your 'roads.' I declined and paid you, what I owed you in good faith and what you also decided to steal from me.

You should have just taken a gun and robbed me. You are unethical in your business practice. You should be ashamed of yourselves for operating in the manner you do. I will do everything in my social presence to tell everyone I know nationwide what kind of business you really are.

Fair is fair. I owed you. I tried to pay in faith in good time. You made it very difficult to do that. Now I know why, so you can steal from your customers and basically mark up a toll 75% to cover your inept operational standard and deceitful business practice. Thank you for proving to me that there are indeed still companies that believe that it's better to disregard good faith for profit.

Bill Fisher

And my response. We're open, you didn't pay blah blah...
Mr. Fisher, we allow 30 days to pay, which it appears you did not do. When a bill is past due, it collects late fees. While it is unfortunate to hear of the death in the family, the bill is still owed. We've had no outages on the website for the month in which you had to pay. Our offices are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, giving you ample time in the 30 days you had to pay to contact us. It appears you did not do this, and you received a late fee. This is not robbery, it is business. While we hope that you continue to enjoy the clean, safe and well-maintained roads on the NTTA network, we do know you have a choice when you drive. Drive safely, and have a good day. Goodbye. -VPB

You're thieves. It's obvious from your public comment pages I'm not alone in my deduction. Even you are to ashamed too give your name. That says it all. Bill Fisher

FEES

I too, was not given proper notification I even called them settled the amount to only receive another bill exactly 30 days later with seventy dollars in new fees in collections. I'm a Firefighter/Paramedic and have been one for over ten years. I pride myself on ethics, excellent personal conduct and honesty everyday I'm at work. I had to deal with NTTA on several occasions and the service personnel on the phone is very good. I feel sorry for the people that are employed by such a corrupt company. I'm also disappointed in the State of Texas to allow this system to fine, penalize, and administer citations to fellow tax paying Texans at an unruly amount. This is nothing but a LEGALIZED form of entrapment. [email protected]

Never Received First of Second Notice

This is the second time I have not received the first or second notice, but instead, get an outrageous bill on 2.42. for $51.94. They are criminals! They purposely do not send out the first notices just so they can gouge you later. When are these crooks going to be shut down? I avoid the toll road whenever possible. I hate that NTTA is getting away with this disgusting practice. It is theft, and that's all it is.
